A Case for a World Traveler

Ever notice that SIM cards keep getting smaller and smaller? You know that they will eventually end up about the size of a pinhead or something ridiculous. The small SIM card does not prove a problem for most of us since it pretty much just lives in the phone. But there are a batch of international travelers out there who do see their card on a regular basis. Whether going from the US to Uzbekistan, Malaysia to Malta, Australia to Argentina or anything in between those of you that travel know the importance of 1) getting a SIM where you are going and 2) keeping track of your SIMs.

Currently receiving backing on Kickstarter is a perfect solution for the iPhone 5-owning world traveler to conquer the SIM card challenge. SIMPLcase™ provides a sleek, protective case with SIM card storage and more. Made of an engineering grade polymer, the case provides low profile but durable protection. When you take off the case however, you notice storage for 3 SIM cards and a SIM card eject tool. How logical is that? No more need to use a paperclip, earing, staple or other random objects to eject the SIM. Now when you travel from India to Italy your SIM awaits in your case. And one other great feature of the SIMPlcase? Get your wallet out when you need to Skype or want to watch a movie. The back contains a credit card sized slot so you use your card to prop up your iPhone. Get in on their Kickstarter campaign now for as little as $12, which will get you a case (estimated in June). And with 23 days to go and over 50% funding it appears that is a reality. Holding on to your iPhone 4/4S? Visit their website to put in a request for one of those cases. And never let yourself get caught off guard when traveling abroad.

How Lamborghini Celebrates a Birthday

Happy 50th birthday Lamborghini! Yes, these sleek speed machines have graced roadways – and garages of the rich – for five decades. In very Automobili Lamborghini style they are pulling out all the stops to commemorate their anniversary. And I mean ALL the stops. Unveiled this week prior to the start of the Geneva Auto Show was the Lamborghini Veneno, a $3.9M supercar. (And you thought your friend's 50th surprise birthday party was a hefty expense.) Only three Veneno's will be produced for sale. Once you get done dropping expletives read on to get the details of what a $3.9M supercar entails.

First look under the hood. Patterned after the Aventador, the 6.5liter V-12 engine and 740hp will get you 0 to 60 quicker than a sneeze. It tops out at an impressive 221mph. The design definitely turns heads. Carbon fiber galore means emphasis on aerodynamics and downforce – afterall the last thing you want is your multi-million dollar car to fly off the road when you accelerate. Even the interior contains carbon fiber. Trim accents will be in green, red or white (get it – Italian flag). So each of the three produced will be completely unique. Now hold on to your checkbooks. Three lucky buyers have been confirmed and the model in the picture is museum bound. Sorry to burst your bubble. But the Veneno sure provides a fun way for us to "oooh" and "aaahh" and is certainly a fitting tribute for one of the most technologically advanced auto makers.

Full Immersion Professional Racer's Simulator

You know something? It is a whole lot easier to be a backseat driver, as you tend to be able to make all of the correct decisions that the driver him or herself was seemingly unable to make when they are at the wheel. Same goes for high stakes Formula 1 racing, where being in the comfort of your living room, you can cuss at the driver's decision, but you have never really placed yourself in such a high pressure cooker situation, have you? Perhaps it is time to change things and give you a tiny taste on what could be – with the $58,500 Full Immersion Professional Racer’s Simulator.

Yes sir, with that kind of money, you can buy yourself an exotic race car (on the low end side of things, though), but at least with the Full Immersion Professional Racer’s Simulator, you would not have to worry about stuff such as insurance claims, folks scratching your car out of jealousy and the ilk. The Full Immersion Professional Racer’s Simulator is said to be the only racing simulator in the market to come with a 180°, 106″-wide HD screen which will keep you immersed in a high-speed virtual car race of unparalleled realism. 7 million-pixels will wrap themselves halfway around you, showing the window net, side mirrors, and passed cars in your peripheral vision as though you are in an actual vehicle. 57 renowned race circuits, including Daytona International Speedway, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and Laguna Seca, have been recreated from 3D laser scans. Talk about extravagant!

Tequila Guns

Now here is a Tequila shooter that lives up to its name – the £29.99 Tequila Guns. The next time your mate asks you whether you would want to go shoot some tequila right after work, all you need to do is give a knowing nod, open your drawer and pull out the Tequila Gun that has been sitting in there for this opportune moment. No need to wait until after work, although your boss might not approve of a little tipple during the day. You will be able to pick from the classic cowboy 6-Shooter, or the more contemporary Glock 9mm and shoot – not people, but rather, tequila, as you end a particularly strenuous day at work.

Of course, it goes without saying that these are not actual guns, but rather, they are tequila bottles which were made south of the border. These beautifully realized glass bottles have been filled with high-quality tequila, and each purchase comes with a pair of shot glasses as well as a display stand. Definitely not the kind of glass bottle that you would discard once they are empty.

Taser Sword is certainly one menacing weapon

Which would you prefer to be on the receiving end of? The razor sharp edge of the sword, or being tased to the ground, having jolts of electricity course through your body as though you were wrecked by Force Lightning by Emperor Palpatine? Well, come to think of it, isn't being hit by a lightsaber somewhat a similar feeling like the Taser Sword? After all, it cuts through just about anything, and is made up of pure energy? The Taser Sword is actually the brainchild of a certain YouTube user known as Jonathan, where he was experimenting with a double-bladed Shock Mod Ninja Sword in order to imbue it with Taser-like functionality. Sounds as though it is one of those science fiction weapons, but it is very, very real.

Needless to say, since this is a DIY project, it will obviously lack the finesse of a particular weapon that was fashioned out from the fires of Mount Doom. I digress, Jonathan obviously does not have the advantage of an actual weapons factory that churns out precisely tuned weapons, but at the very least, the sword's practical function works as painful as its namesake. On the Taser Sword lies a utilitarian but functional "On" switch which can be activated to turn on the shock function, and since tasers run off a power source or battery, it will require a regular wall socket plug located at the end of the grip which was specially designed to charge the weapon.

According to Jonathan, he was inspired to come up with the Taser Sword after he saw another YouTube user by the name of GreekGadgetGuru. What is the whole point of this DIY project if it was not tested in the real world? Jonathan decided to play the role of guinea pig, and had a friend of his touch him with the sword, which should be demonstration enough to avoid one of these when unsheathed.

Datamancer rolls out Executive Keyboard

Are you in the market for a spanking new keyboard at the moment? Assuming you have answered in the affirmative, then you might be on the lookout for the usual suspects from Microsoft, Logitech, or even Genius. Well, how about taking a few steps off the well worn path, and settle for a totally different trail instead? Surely you have heard of Art Lebedev's range of insanely priced computer peripherals, but fret not, we are not asking you to blow your year's vacation budget on one of Art Lebedev's tech installations. Thing is, you will still need to fork out a rather hefty amount for the Executive Keyboard from a certain Datamancer. The asking price for the Executive Keyboard? We are looking at $750, and that is without the custom add-ons and what not.

Why would a keyboard warrant such an insanely high price tag? Well, you have got to ask the good people over at Datamancer, who have put up their ware on Etsy. The Executive Keyboard will ship with an aluminum body that is always stunning to look at, even if it does not carry the "Apple" logo, while the presence of mechanical switches and typewriter keys will surely make every dollar of the $750 you put in well worth it.

The Executive Keyboard attempts to justify its price tag by being a hand-crafted keyboard, and the default layout remains a standard US ANSI 104-key QWERTY, although for folks who happen to live in Europe, you can always settle for an European layout. Needless to say, it would be the keys in the layout which function as the actual centerpiece of this computer peripheral, all done up in the style of antique typewriter keys. Since it connects to a computer via USB, expect the Executive Keyboard to play nice on any PC or Mac. There seems to be only nine for sale at the moment, so get them while they're hot!

Bartendro robot is an interesting mix, pardon the pun

Your local bartender might have a thing or two to say about the Bartendro robot mixologist, especially in these economically trying times, and to be made redundant at the workplace because of technology is definitely quite a bummer. The thing is, the Bartendro robot mixologist does not look as though it is going to replace the bald man behind the counter, wiping glasses, anytime soon, considering how one of the main draws of a local pub would be the bartender himself who lends a shoulder to cry on during times of trouble among its clientele, as well as offers some sagely advice from time to time.

Still, to see a robot function as a bartender is something else, but do not expect the Bartendro to be some sort of protocol droid like C3PO which you see in Star Wars. No sir, it will seem to be more of a contraption, but is a robot at the very base. Thanks to the presence of a Raspberry Pi processor, it is capable of crafting up a wide range of cocktails, as long as it carries the relevant information in its database.

The Bartendro robot is said to be able to handle up to 15 bottles of booze and mixers simultaneously, and is capable of dispensing precision cocktails in a swift turnaround time of under 10 seconds. Of course, the lack of a human touch will not see the Bartendro take over the human bartender duties anytime soon, but I suppose at clubs where folks just want to get a shot of their favorite poison without having to go through the motions of talking to other folks, will find some solace in the presence of the Bartendro.

Other than the Raspberry Pi processor, the Bartendro robot mixologist will also comprise of other parts such as peristaltic pumps, custom electronic dispenser boards, and food-grade tubing. Capable of churning out 200 cocktails in an evening, you can be sure that this is one robot which will not hit on your girlfriend, but neither is it capable of breaking up fights. Fancy getting the Bartendro? You will have to fork out a rather handsome $2,499 for it.
