Halo 4 – Where have you been Master Chief? Posted: 18 Jun 2012 10:45 AM PDT I’m sure you might already suspect that I’m a huge fan of video games. It all started with my first game of “Pong” and my addiction has continued. I have to say that holding a special place in my heart, since its beginnings in 2001, has always been Halo. Since Halo first exploded onto the scene it has grown into one of the most beloved and successful video game series of all time. Wonder why that is? Well, the debut of Halo 4 this November is likely to excite a whole army of folks that have been left wondering, just what the heck happened? We last saw Master Chief lost in space aboard the wreckage of a USNC frigate near some mysterious Forerunner planet. This 8th installment of this popular series will confront some unanswered questions about their fate and the fortune of the universe itself. Microsoft has developed a new “Infinity Multiplayer” experience where players can customize their own Spartan-IV soldiers’ weapons and strengths and explore the UNSC Infinity ship. The level of discovery and storytelling will allow players to immerse themselves in the multiplayer experience more than ever before. I know, hard to believe, right? Halo 4 is already available for pre-order exclusively for the Xbox 360 in both standard and limited editions for around 59.00 and 99.00 respectively at amazon.com with a release date of November 6th, this should give you plenty of time to get ready for one of the most anticipated gaming experiences of 2012, and the beginning of the new Halo “Reclaimer Trilogy”. So where do you weigh in? Halo, Deus Ex, Call of Duty? Are you really looking forward to Halo 4? or are you already engaged with something else? Crosley Revolution Ultraportable Record Player Posted: 18 Jun 2012 06:30 AM PDT Sure, most of us have taken the MP3 route these days where portable music is concerned, and our smartphones have proven to be quite the capable portable media player as of late. How about vinyl records? Those might sound “warmer” to audio purists, but they are also a whole lot harder to maintain, and offering true blue portable freedom they do not. Not so with the $149.99 Crosley Revolution Ultraportable Record Player though, as this portable record player can be powered by half a dozen AA batteries, or you can always hook it up to a nearby USB port whenever possible. It will play back the music of yesteryears through the built-in speaker, but if you want to enjoy the music personally without anyone else interrupting your session, there is always the built-in headphone jack to help you out. An integrated FM transmitter makes the entire set up all the more versatile, especially if you have a killer sound system in your home or car, and you can also perform USB transfer straight to your computer. Posted: 18 Jun 2012 06:00 AM PDT The world definitely does not feel as safe as it was back compared to the past – just open up your newspapers these days, and chances are you will be greeted by bad news, page after page. Murder, theft, you name it, it is all there. Not only that, thieves seem to get more and more bold these days, so extra care needs to be taken to make sure that you do not end up being a victim of yet another snatch theft. Well, I am quite sure the $99.95 Theft Recovery Microchips might be able to help somewhat. These microchips will rely on radio frequency identification to verify the ownership of stolen items, which is pretty much the same kind of technology used when identifying lost pets. Each chip is registered with an item thanks to a proprietary global database, where any item that is recovered after a theft will be able to reveal a chip’s hidden presence, thanks to a scan by law enforcement personnel or dealers. Braven start to ship their wireless speakers Posted: 18 Jun 2012 05:30 AM PDT We have long talked about a paperless revolution for many years now, but it does seem as though paper is still an indispensable part of life. After all, the change is gradual, but there is still something about paper that works great compared to portable electronics – you will never have to worry about running out of power, and reading on paper under direct sunlight is not an issue at all, with your eyes relishing the additional light to boot. How about the fabled wireless lifestyle? Is that piece of utopian imagination worth looking into? Perhaps, with wireless mice, keyboards and speakers proliferating the market, here we are wit Brazen’s wireless speakers. Brazen is a well known Tipping the scales at approximately 12 oz., measuring about 6 inches in length, these Brazen speakers might be small in physical dimension, but they are more than capable of delivering room-filling high-fidelity audio for those who love nothing better than to enjoy their music – on the go. The speakers will also sport a built-in speakerphone, charging capability, and the option to combine multiple speakers together. The SIX Series will comprise of the sleek aircraft grade aluminum 600 model that will come in Moab Red or Mountain Ash shades. As for the high-end 650 model, you can opt for classic aluminum and it will boast APTX for today's modern audiophile. The 625s, however, will be housed in a rugged shock-absorbent rubber that is built for durability and outdoor adventures. First available in Stealth Black, the 625s will now be released in a new Summit Green shade. The speakers themselves will feature a couple of custom extended-range drivers, where each of them have a 3 watt speaker output to deliver high-fidelity stereo audio. Alongside that, you get extraordinary battery life that range anywhere from 12 to 20 hours, where the speakers can also double up as a portable charger, juicing thirsty devices via USB. The Braven 600 retails for $149.99, the 625s for $179.99, and the 650 for $189.99, so it is time to take another look at your account books and see if you can accommodate them this month. LG Optimus L5 marks global debut Posted: 18 Jun 2012 05:00 AM PDT In the early days of most hardware, functionality comes before form. After all, what was important was to make sure a particular device or machine worked as intended – no more, no less. After that, you are more or less free to think of ways to not only make that functional machine smaller and more efficient, but also nicer to look at with your own two eyes. Take the smartphone for instance, Apple’s iPhone was clearly head above shoulders from the other QWERTY-sliding smartphones back in 2007, and this design idea has filtered down to current day smartphones, too. LG did work hand in hand with fashion house Prada in the past to reveal their LG Prada and LG Prada 2 devices, but those did not really take off in a big way. This is not to detract from all the hard work put in, the whole idea just did not really jive with the mass market, although I do admit that LG’s Prada handsets were definitely works of art, and worth taking some time off to look at. Well, there is another new device from LG which was announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, earlier this year – the LG Optimus L5, and we are glad to say that the smartphone has finally made its way to the mass market – starting with Europe first. The LG Optimus L5 is said to be one of LG's stylish, high fashion L-Series smartphones, where it will debut globally in key European markets later this June. Starting off with the U.K., Germany and France, the LG Optimus L5 will continue its worldwide debut in the CIS, Middle East and Asia markets before taking the long ride across the ocean, arriving on Central America and South America shores after that. In order to maintain the L-Style's elegant design philosophy, the LG Optimus L5 sports a seamless merger of style and technology. It comes in an extremely slim body that measures just 9.5mm (although this is not the thinnest smartphone to date), the lack of physical space within should not be seen as a betrayal of its capabilities. No sir, those living in Asia, CIS, Middle East, Central and South America will be able to get a model that has dual SIM support, while folks in Europe and North America will receive a model that does NFC "Tag & Play". Other hardware specifications include a Cortex A5 800MHz processor, a microSD memory card slot, 4GB of internal storage, a 4″ HVGA touchscreen display, a rear 5-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, and an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
