Bike with Confidence

With the push to be more eco-friendly or even just to stay in shape, more and more of us are biking. Whether going to work, home or fun there appear to be more bikes on the road every year. Yet our thirst for technology, tunes or telephone when we bike also seems to grow.

Satechi, a company we have written about quite a few times in the past, make some quality protection and accessories for phones and pads plus Bluetooth, computer and camera accessories. Their Bikemate Slim 3 provides a perfect, easy-to-install pouch for a variety of devices. How many? Try iPhone 5, 4S, 4, 3GS, 3G, BlackBerry Torch, HTC EVO, HTC Inspire 4G, HTC Sensation, Droid X, Droid Incredible, Droid 2, Droid 3, Samsung EPIC, Galaxy S II, Galaxy S III. Whew.  And most of those phones can fit in the pouch with their protective case on. The Bikemate is designed for touch screen operation through the see through protective cover. Easily access inputs and cables from either end of the case. And installation is a cinch. Put the coupling around handle bar neck, adjust the zip tie and you are in business. Mount your gadget vertically or horizontally too. Note that the materials used to construct Bikemate are water proof, but the device itself is not. So it will protect you long enough to stop and put your phone away before the torrential downpour. The Bikemate Slim 3, just $24.99, is shipping from Satechi's website.  So if you believe in pedal power, secure your smartphone before you go.

And now "Gangnam Style" by PSY is close to arriving to gaming systems.

Available now are both Dance Central 3 from Harmonix and Just Dance 4 from Ubisoft – the latest iterations of their addictive dance game. And reliable rumors state that "Gangnam Style" will soon be made available as downloadable content for either game. Between the two games that makes this song available for Wii™,Xbox 360®, Microsoft Kinect™ for Xbox 360®, Sony PlayStation® Move for PlayStation® 3, and Wii™ U.

So whether you adore the song or bang your head against a wall when you hear it – now you know. Either prepare yourself for the download – or if your kids love it and you cringe – prepare yourself with some earplugs.

Pure ROK might help address global drinking water crisis

We might take clean drinking water for granted in the country that we live in, but to put things into perspective the next time you complain that there's nothing to eat in your fridge, and the only drink you have is water, bear in mind that over 1 billion folks lack regular access to safe drinking water, and this figure is not shrinking. On the contrary, it is growing all the more. Apart from that, around 6,000 children die each day no thanks to disease associated with lack of access to safe drinking water. The news does not get any rosier though, as it is estimated that by the time 2025 rolls around, over 5 billion people will not have access to regular and sufficient supplies of safe drinking water. There is a bright ray of hope, however, as we take a closer look at the Pure ROK.

The Pure ROK will incorporate state-of-the-art design alongside low-cost manufacturing techniques, where the Pure ROK units do not carry any moving parts at all, and not only that, there are no pumps nor filters as well. It does not need any lithium ion battery source, but rather, it relies on the sun itself in order to convert fouled water. Even better news is this – seawater too, is not exempt from the Pure ROK's transforming capability, turning it into clean, pure drinking water via an innovative and highly effective evaporation, condensation and collection process.

A snap to operate and not only that, the Pure ROK is easy to maintain, individual Pure ROK units are capable of churning out an average of between 6 to 10 gallons of pure water per 24 hour period under normal to high sunlight conditions. Of course, when winter comes, the amount of sunlight available in a day drops, so you can expect less amount of water than that. 6 to 10 gallons should be more than enough to equip a family of 8 with adequate amounts of safe and pure drinking water.

Withings Wireless Scale WS-30 arrives Stateside

We did take a look at the Withings wireless scale in the past, and needless to say, living a wireless lifestyle is always worth looking into. After all, don't you think that there are more than enough wires and cables going through your home at the moment? Not only that, most of these cables tend to have a life of their own, ending up in a tangled mess at the end of the day when you leave them alone long enough. With the Withings Wireless Scale WS-30, it is now available in the US, where it is connected to the Internet thanks to WiFi connectivity.

Just how does the WS-30 scale work? It will merge Bluetooth Smart technology and WiFi connectivity, delivering a seamless and computer-free experience straight from the install stage, all the way to everyday use. It is so simple, that even you might find it difficult to believe. Coupled with the most recent Withings technology, users will be able to enjoy an ultra-intuitive experience, where among them include Withings Position Control technology that delivers on-screen visuals so as to properly position a user's body on the scale – resulting in high-accuracy weighing.

Once you step on the scale, the Wireless Scale will take note of your weight and body mass index (BMI), showing it off on a large backlit display. Once a weigh in is complete, the scale will rely on its built-in connectivity, automatically transmitting the data to the user's Withings Health Companion App and personal Withings webpage. Not only that, as a user, you are able to decide just where else you would want such information to be sent to – including your physician, Twitter feed, and over 60 Withings compatible applications such as Lose It!, Runkeeper, MyFirnessPal, Daily Burn, Zeo, and Body Media.

The Wireless Scale WS-30 would set you back by $129.95 a pop.

Boogie Board Jot Paperless LCD Tablet

Forget about Post It notes and fridge magnets that you leave at home, nobody in the family seem to be as interested in them as you are. Perhaps if you were to introduce to the tablet generation something that jives with them, they might actually take the trouble and time to see just what you have jotted down. Enter the £39.99 Boogie Board Jot Paperless LCD Tablet, where it will continue where its predecessors left off by looking far more sleek and professional. Of course, since this is a revised version of older technology, do expect your fair share of additions into the mix.

The stylus on the Boogie Board Jot Paperless LCD Tablet has been integrated for easier storage, and not only that, it doubles up as a stand. The magnetized back-plate allows it to hang happily on the fridge, making it the ideal tool to write down your shopping list or a love message to the missus so that she is greeted by some tender words when she arrives home. With 8.5" of writing real estate, this battery operated device is simple to "reset", where pressing a button will ensure whatever was written will disappear as the screen starts from a clean slate all over again.

Dota2 Inflatable Donkey

Hmmm, how many of you out there still play Defense of the Ancients (Dota)? Assuming you have answered in the affirmative, do not close this window as you read about the $39.99 Dota2 Inflatable Donkey. I am not trying to pull your leg here, and we are well aware the Halloween has already past, but then again, who could resist this rather adorable looking, super mythical donkey that plies its trade in the skies? Sporting three feet of winged glory, it has its value that comes in the form of a Zonkey digital unlock code.

Needless to say, the Dota2 Inflatable Donkey will come deflated, and it is up to you to play the role of a deity to literally breathe new life into it, and when filled to the brim with your inner winds, all you need to do is toss him through the air, and he will take "flight", albeit for the shortest of moments. Standing 3 feet tall, he carries the aforementioned special promotional code in his satchel, letting you be the proud owner of a Zonkey Courier in DOTA 2.
