Posted: 28 Apr 2010 05:32 PM PDT Sci-fi movies are extremely fun to watch, considering they tend to tickle the imagination with stuff that aren’t available (mostly anyways) in the real world. Star Wars has done a whole lot to capture our imagination over the last few decades, and among the more impressive vehicles within would be the AT-AT walker which was a staple land-based attack vehicle used by the Empire. This Star Wars AT-AT model is fully painted and detailed right out of the box – all you need to do is to make sure you can follow the assembly instructions within, and good news since there is no glue to worry about as everything snaps together into place. You can pick up the Star Wars AT-AT model for $49.99. Tech Cult – We cover the latest tech news, but always with a funny twist. [ Star Wars AT-AT model copyright by Coolest Gadgets ] Related Posts: |
digiZoid zo personal subwoofer Posted: 28 Apr 2010 05:15 PM PDT
The zo itself is based on digiZoid SmartVector sound contouring technology, and while that might sound rather confusing to the layman, it is actually a fusion of intelligent electronics with advanced materials which will dynamically adjust and present tailored sound energy to a speaker as well as the ear for optimized audibility. As a result, your ears will be treated to an unprecedented listening experience, which is somewhat akin to installing a subwoofer and upgraded speakers into your home audio system, although with the zo personal subwoofer, this is achieved through a device that is no larger than an iPod nano. Some of the features available in the zo are as follows :-
Expect each purchase of the zo to come with a mini USB cable, a couple of 3.5mm stereo cables (10cm and 100cm long) and a SmartStart guide. Initially priced at $99 to kick things off, the zo readily available and can be purchased online. Cool Gift Idea: Digital Picture Frames, check out our reviews. Vodafone UK customers able to get their hands on the Nexus One Posted: 28 Apr 2010 05:00 PM PDT
It is also nice to know that Vodafone UK has made the Nexus One to be inclusive for many people, since it will come in a range of great value Vodafone price plans, where you can also choose from either 18 month or 24 month contracts. Depending on your budget, you will have to fork out anywhere from £25 a month on a 24 month contract to more for a shorter time period. Apart from that, Vodafone UK customers with the Nexus One will also receive 1GB of data usage on their price plan while enjoying unlimited access to Wi-Fi in the home and free, publicly available services throughout the country. If you feel that 1GB isn’t enough, there is always the option for an additional 1GB of data at premium BT Openzone hotspots throughout the UK. Just to refresh your memory, some of the features that are available on the Google Nexus One would include the following :-

Frenchman climbs Hong Kong building, for some reason Posted: 28 Apr 2010 04:51 PM PDT Remember how I mentioned yesterday that Hong Kong is one of the most populated cities in the world? Man, some people must be feeling so crowded that they are climbing walls. Or, in the case of French Alain Robert, climb skyscrapers. Mr. Robert apparently decided to take it upon himself to climb a 290-meter skyscraper without any permission. He had no safety cable, no ropes, not even a single suction cup. You can watch the video of it after the jump, and you can see all the worried cops along with the people who wanted to take his picture. Too bad the video does not show the reason why he wanted to climb this thing. It also doesn’t show him being hauled off to jail for violating some law. I am assuming that it is illegal to just climb a building, right? Instead, he just comments about how great the view is. By the way, you may have noticed the big print on his chest advertising GoldenPalace.com. I checked, and it is an online casino. Was this his sponsor, or something? In this man’s defense, you shouldn’t build a skyscraper with an exterior that looks like a playground’s Jungle Gym. I mean, this was just begging to be climbed. Maybe someone should hire Mr. Robert to be a Window washer. Tech Cult – We cover the latest tech news, but always with a funny twist. OLED technology helps glass see in the dark Posted: 28 Apr 2010 04:28 PM PDT About a week ago I talked about how some OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diodes) technology could turn an ordinary pane of glass into a display called a T-OLED. Today I would like to talk about how OLED could turn ordinary glass into a night-vision screen. This tech comes to us from both DARPA and the University of Florida. It is a new material made from seven OLED layers, which have the ability to get “excited” by infrared light. Once light passes through these layers, they get amplified by the next layer, which turns what was once dark into light. Sounds very cool, doesn’t it? Too bad that the only sample of this tech that they have is one square centimeter. I’m guessing that you would have to squint really hard to see the image from the photo. I’m also guessing that the best use of this technology would be on eyeglasses, windshields, windows, and any other place where seeing in the dark is necessary. I’m sure that this tech is by no means cheap, just like the aforementioned T-OLED. Now, if only there was a way to combine the T-OLED tech with this night vision tech. That would certainly be something to see, all right. I swear, the future is already looking brighter at just the thought of that. Cool Gift Idea: Digital Picture Frames, check out our reviews. Post-It Assualt Rifle: Not as cool as you might think Posted: 28 Apr 2010 04:05 PM PDT I think what you are seeing here is a dream of any disgruntled office worker: a gun that can shoot Post-its. I hope you aren’t too upset when I tell you that this is merely a concept, and I’m guessing that the gun in the photo is nothing more than some sort of mock-up. So you can forget about your dreams of shooting post-its until you have covered up a man. (Think about the poster for Office Space if you need a visual aid.) This is what the designer Alex Marshall does want to do with it:
I believe this would shoot rolled up Post-its, really. Nothing that you could really write on, maybe. I guess I just have a dream of stalking people with a gun that would allow any message I want to be stuck to them. Of course, I would have to write those messages in advance, wouldn’t I? Yeah, this Post-it gun is just not as cool as I wanted it to be. Cool Gift Idea: Digital Picture Frames, check out our reviews. Posted: 28 Apr 2010 03:00 PM PDT We all know of the days when owning a pet rock was actually cool. Not so shockingly it was in the 70’s when weed was also popular. That’s not what I’d call a coincidence. Well for those of you that miss your pet rock, but you’re now a respectable adult you should pick yourself up an iRock. You can talk to it just like your old rock, but it actually has a function. Just pop your iPod or iPhone into the dock and it can be charged or synced up to your computer with the included USB cable. The dock is made out of a rock with Eastern Red Cedar Wood in the middle. These are created by an individual and sold through Etsy. Which means that these will come out in very limited quantities. You can pick up yours for $70, which is a bit steep for a rock. At least it’s an electronic rock though. Wii PowerV Quad Charger And Dock Posted: 28 Apr 2010 01:53 PM PDT When you prefer to game with your friends, it becomes difficult to keep your controllers up and going. It also means that you usually have all of them dead at once. Instead of swapping out controllers and charging only a couple at a time you could pick up this Wii PowerV Quad Inductive Charging and Storage Dock for 4 controllers. Plus as an added bonus this is compatible with silicone covers and the Wii Motion Plus. This dock will match your bright white Wii well, especially since it was meant to look more like a sculpture than a random charger. It can wirelessly charge and store up to 4 of your controllers at the same time. Plus of course it won’t allow any over-charging that would damage the controllers. The Quad also comes with 2 rechargeable battery packs. You can purchase one for $49.99 from Amazon. Source: Crunchgear Tech Cult – We cover the latest tech news, but always with a funny twist.
