Oceanographer’s Video Camera

Posted: 05 Mar 2011 01:42 PM PST

Professional dive videographers used to be the only ones who had access to some serious underwater cameras, but with the Oceanographer’s Video Camera, you too, will be able to snap underwater activity in high definition at depths of up to 300 feet. That’s some serious depth for casual folks, and here’s more information about it.

Encased in a marine-grade ABS and aluminum housing which delivers a watertight seal that protects the included 1080i HD video camera, the housing comes with a couple of handles which also boast zoom, record, manual white balance, auto/manual focus, exposure, and photo camera buttons that are easily accessible at your fingertips.

There will be two 14″ long flexible LED lights which will adjust themselves to illuminate undersea features with 2,200 lumens, where each of them provide adjustable light intensity. The camera itself can capture up to half a dozen hours of 1920 x 1080 high definition resolution video courtesy of its 10X optical zoom, autofocus, and advanced image stabilization which will narrow in on an underwater subject while doing away with camera shake.

All video footage is a snap to monitor, thanks to the housing’s external 2.7″ color display. As for storage, you need not fret as the Oceanographer’s Video Camera already comes with 64GB of internal memory to get you started right out of the box, and to make things even easier for editing purposes, all video will be stored as an MPEG-4-AVC/H.264 file format. Just in case – you never know when Murphy might strike – that you run out of the 64GB of alloted space, fret not, as there will be not one but TWO SD memory card slots to further expand its storage capability.

If video isn’t the only thing you’re looking for, there is always the option to use the Oceanographer’s Video Camera to shoot 8.59-megapixel stills. The camera itself can be mounted easily within the housing securely, where it remains sealed thanks to a redundant double O-ring. It comes with all the relevant cables required for connecting to a TV or computer. This doesn’t come cheap though at a whopping $7,000 a pop, where your order is expected to ship on the 25th of March 2011.

Verbatim Wireless Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard for iPad and iPhone

Posted: 04 Mar 2011 07:10 PM PST

The iPhone and iPad are pretty darn fine devices in their own right, otherwise how else are you able to explain the phenomenal sales figures of both, alongside frenzied lines that form with the release of each device, what more the iPad 2? This just goes to show how popular Apple products are throughout the world, and that is certainly an opportunity for other third party accessory manufacturers to churn out accessories to go with your iOS-powered devices.

Verbatim, being a name that is more often than not associated with storage devices, are now back with their Wireless Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard for both the iPad and iPhone. Makes perfect sense, and chances are business oriented folks will be picking this up since they would most probably find it to be rather challenging to churn out a business document in record time using nothing but a touchscreen display interface and virtual keyboard.

Shipping to retailers nationwide, the Wireless Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard for iPad and iPhone was specially designed to work with Bluetooth-enabled iPads and iPhones. Coming in an extremely slim form factor, this foldable keyboard will be able to deliver a far more familiar typing method to both iPad and iPhone users, as it makes it a whole lot easier to compose e-mails and other important documents using their touchscreen devices.

Apart from that, the keyboard’s media console can also play, pause and control iTunes music directly without missing a beat. As mentioned earlier, its form factor makes it a snap to tote around, and when folded, you can stuff it in just about any pants pocket. Each $79.99 purchase will be accompanied by a premium carrying case and iPhone stand, where the latter is a snap to slide away and stored into the keyboard body itself, doubling up as a convenient way of doing things while offering protection simultaneously.

Just make sure you have enough AAA batteries to go along with the Wireless Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard.

Gigabyte Aivia M8600 Wireless Macro Gaming Mouse

Posted: 04 Mar 2011 06:57 PM PST

Hardcore gamers tend to take the outcome of their digital battles seriously, and most of them will have a favorite kind of gaming hardware to complement their skills. While Razer is an extremely popular name when it comes to gaming devices, how many people have Gigabyte off the top of their heads? Most of us would think of this to be a motherboard manufacturer first and foremost, but they have rolled out the Gigabyte Aivia M8600 Wireless Macro Gaming Mouse this time around to compete in such a niche market.

The Aivia M8600 might seem to have an “inspired” design from its rivals such as the Razer Lachesis and the Logitech G700, but it is mature enough to hold out on its own, offering dual “quick change” batteries that makes sure it has juice all the time, letting you charge and swap a dead one in just a couple of seconds – depending on how fast your hand can move, of course.

There is no word on a release date or pricing at press time, but hopefully it will keep in line with its motherboard roots by offering plenty of bang for your buck.

Sex used to strengthen passwords

Posted: 04 Mar 2011 06:51 PM PST

Having a strong password is always recommended regardless of which site you go to, but we do know that humans are an extremely lax bunch, which is why many of us out there still have easy-to-guess passwords. According to the Wall Street Journal, some of the more popular passwords out there involved during the recent Gawker Media hacked snafu were”123456″ and “password.”

Nowadays, most sites would encourage you to juggle a combination of letters, numbers, and characters for each password, in order to throw off those who might just be sniffing out what you’re typing. The designers over at platfor45 decided to roll out a rather intriguing and humorous method for you to churn out your own original password, using a Naked Password plug-in that encourages users to select strong passwords thanks to an 8-bit girl who relieves herself of more articles of clothing the more unguessable the password is.
