Level Up Gaming Towers gives you a space for all your gaming stuff Posted: 13 Sep 2010 06:05 PM PDT If you have a video game console for your TV, then you know how much room they can eventually take up. Most of us have home entertainment centers that hold the console unit and games, but some of us have gaming accessories like instruments for Guitar Hero or Rock Band. As you can see, these gaming holders are designed for the Wii, Xbox 360, and Playstation. They also have some sort of set-up for the Nintendo DS. They also have a set-up for Rock Band, and it seems to be made to hold the drums. That is pretty good, because I can honestly say from experience that Rock Band drums really take up a whole bunch of space. As I write this, I have my drum set shoved underneath a kitchen table, still somewhat in the way. As for the other towers, they are made to hold the gaming peripherals of guitars, the games, and the console units. They also hold the controllers, but it is a real shame that they don’t charge them. These gaming towers are appropriately named Level Up and are made by Level Up Gear. They will launch in October at stores like JCPenny, Toys R Us, as well as Bed Bath and Beyond. Smart Finger measures without tape Posted: 13 Sep 2010 03:33 PM PDT This might be a sign that we’re all getting just a little spoiled when it comes to our touchscreens.  All of this just moving around your fingers to enlarge an image is just too much luxury for the human race.  Now people are even getting to the point where they don’t want to bother with measuring tape.  Instead you just pick up a couple of finger covers and they’ll do the measuring for you.  No tape necessary. The Smart Finger is made out of silicon to make it possible to wear it with any finger size.  It manages to measure length, breadth and volume all through pushing a few little buttons.  Once it measures the distance it’ll display it through LED.  It measures by the basis of the time taken by the signal to beam from one finger to the other and back again.  Right now this is obviously a concept, but it is an insteresting one to say the least. Pentax Optio lets you be creative with more than just your shots Posted: 13 Sep 2010 03:00 PM PDT Instead of putting all of your creative juices into a picture, save a little for your camera.  The Pentax Optio NB1000 allows for you to build miniature sculptures right on the front of your camera.  You of course do all of this with the use of a handy stash of Legos.  With this you’ll never have to give up your child-like love for those plastic bricks. The 14.1 megapixel camera has a 4x zoom along with 720p video recording.  These come in two different color choices, monochromatic white and safari green.  Also I should mention that these technically don’t use Legos.  Instead they use Nanoblocks from Japan’s DiaBlock.  You can use these blocks for practical reasons like adding something you can really hold onto or just making the front look a little extra pretty.  These are scheduled to release sometime later this year for about $240. SkyRider seats force you to get up close and personal during flights Posted: 13 Sep 2010 02:01 PM PDT Flights are already cramped and uncomfortable enough that I often find myself longing to just take a train ride instead.  Now one company is attempting to make flights even more cramped by creating a flight class below the current economy class.  Instead of sitting in seats you’ll be stuck with a slanted chair that allows for the chair in front of you to be even closer. Sure, I found myself longing for cheaper flights while booking my honeymoon recently, but I’m definitely not desperate enough to ride in a chair like this.  Then again, if you’re only taking a 1 hour flight, perhaps you won’t mind that there’s only 23 inches between your seat and the one in front of you.    To give you an idea on how close that is, the absolute smallest economy class flight has 31 inches.  Thankfully, so far SkyRider hasn’t been picked up by any airlines, but they are presenting the idea next week at the Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas.  Then again even if someone did pick up the idea, you’re not forced to ride in the seats, there will just be a cheaper cabin class below the usual economy class. Nikon Coolpix S8100 offers quality without the price Posted: 13 Sep 2010 12:00 PM PDT Nikon targets the consumer class digital camera market with the Coolpix S8100, where this 12.1-megapixel shooter comes with a backside illumination CMOS sensor that will enable consumers with enhanced performance as well as outstanding image quality for high-speed shooting and low-light conditions.
