Ionic Clean: Use that de-ionized water for cleaning

I had a chance to try out the Ionic Clean by Homeright this weekend. This cleaning system uses de-ionizing technology, which can turn ordinary water into a more purified form for cleaning.

It comes in that airtank thing that you see here, and it comes with an attachment for your hose. When you turn the water on, you have the option of the de-ionizing (DI) water. Think of it as a soap, but not quite as potent as real soap.

You should feel free to add soap to get rid of the real spotted areas on your car, without streaks and no drying required. After you have used the DI water, you can switch to the “rinse” function for some plain and ordinary water on whatever it is that you are washing.

You might notice the extended stick with a brush on the end, which comes in handy for DI washes. In short, the Ionic Clean feels like something that you would use at a car wash, but, without the addition of soap, it doesn’t get your car as clean as you might like.

Anyway, you should be able to get the Ionic Clean from the Homeright website for about $249. Is that too expensive?

Swing Beginner Concept Car

This is the Swing Beginner concept car. As you can see, even the artistic model is impressed.

The Swing Beginner car concept is like nothing that I’ve seen in a car as it relies not on a wheel to steer, but the driver’s leaning.

Yes, the driver must lean to go in a certain direction. You might just wonder what the heck this is good for, but as you can see from the diagrams on the photo, it can do some interesting turning.

Take that U turn, for example, most cars would require a serious ring around the steering wheel just to go in the other direction. Apparently, only a specific lean is required. I also like the leaning for easy sideways parallel parking.

You might wonder why wonder why the word “Beginner” is in the title of this car. That is a good question. I mean, is this meant to be a car for beginners?

I would have to admit, I would have to relearn how to drive in order to use this device. Something tells me that a pre-schooler might get in on this action. I think they would be the first to adapt to this new style of steering, provided they have never operated a steering wheel before.

Smart Fridge knows how much food is in the fridge, and can make a recipe for it

For those of you who can’t figure out what to make for dinner might really like this smart fridge designed by Ashley Legg.

This smart fridge knows what is in your refrigerator, and it can figure out from the food within what recipe you can make. It will then display this recipe on a touchscreen panel mounted in the door.

Of course, you will have to enter in the ingredients with the touchscreen panel. Yes, entering in the ingredients sounds like a very tedious thing to do, and my source says the same thing.

My source also suggested a bar code scanner for entering in your food items. I suppose that would be the fastest way, but I have another way that would save some more time.

You see, my wife likes to send me a grocery shopping list via text, and I usually get everything on it. If I were to come home and just wirelessly upload the list to the fridge, that would work.

Also, I noticed that this touchscreen panel for entering in the food items is inside the door. Uh, this entering in of the groceries could take a while, and it isn’t good to leave the door open for too long.

Skype enables iPhone owners to make 3G calls

Skype has finally brought to life a feature that many iPhone owners had wished for for a long,long time already – we’re talking about the iPhone being able to make 3G calls. Yes, this new version of its application is available from the Apple App Store, where it enables iPhone users to make as well as receive Skype-to-Skype calls, not to mention to call mobiles and landlines worldwide without breaking the bank using nothing but their 3G data connection. Of course, a lot of the call quality depends on your signal strength as well as the amount of network congestion, but I’m sure that most of us won’t mind sacrificing a little bit of quality to save a whole lot of dollars, right?

Skype-to-Skype calls on 3G will be available for free at the moment during its trial period, although that won’t be the case once 2011 rolls around. Of course, during this period, each call that you make will still be charged by operators accordingly. There will be more information on pricing in the coming months which will be in line with Skype’s commitment to provide customers with additional value.
