Zazzle Realview shows what the poster will look like on your wall, with augmented reality Posted: 21 Dec 2011 06:30 AM PST Augmented reality can produce some really interesting applications, and Zazzle’s Realview technology is giving us yet another new use for it. Have you ever wanted to put a poster on your wall, but were not certain how it would look when it was actually there? Fortunately, Zazzle prints has the solution to your problem, as augmented reality shows what it would actually look like. All that is required is to download the Zazzle Wall Maker and you can see Zazzle Prints and Wrapped Canvas with over 80 different frames and 40 different mats. Then you print out the next biggest thing as a small QR Code and tape it on your wall where you want it. The next step is to take a picture of your wall, which can be done at any angle. Upload that image to Zazzle, and you will see if that new poster will “bring the room together”. If you want to see what Zazzle has to offer, head on over to the official site and check the five categories below of Fine Art, Modern Art, Photography, Collections, and Music Posters. The actual posters are of varying sizes and prices, and there are quite a few of them to pick from. Coolest Gadgets UK – For all your UK centric tech and gadget news. The spnKiX Electric Motorized Skates Posted: 21 Dec 2011 06:15 AM PST Just so we can get this out of the way, this is one of those KickStarter projects. You know, the type that require your funding in order to get it on the market, and you might be guaranteed the first one if you pledge enough money? This is the spnKiX, and it is a pair of electric roller skates. I guess those Segways were not enough for us, and we had to come up with some form of single human transportation. The spnKiX are capable of about ten miles per hour, and they can only travel about two or three miles before the battery runs out. Want to go further? Well, you will have to wait about two hours as the lithium ion battery charges. So I guess what we are looking at is way to get around for short distances. For example, if you only have a few miles to go to work, you can charge them up while you are on the job and electro-skate home. If you pledge about $375 at the Kickstarter site, you will find that you can get yourself a pair after the Kickstarter member raises $25,000 for production. If you are willing to pledge about $950, then you can get a special edition with matte black wheels. Tech Cult – We cover the latest tech news, but always with a funny twist. Super Bowl XLVI to be streamed live! Posted: 21 Dec 2011 06:00 AM PST For the first time in history, the biggest game in the United States is going to be streamed live to computers and mobile devices. Here is the catch. If you want to view the championship NFL game of the year on a mobile device, then you had better have a Verizon phone and access to the NFL Mobile app. I suppose that we should have seen a streaming Superbowl coming, as NBC is already doing web streaming on Sunday Night broadcasts, and they happen to be the network that is televising the big game this year. Yes, it looks like the stars have aligned to give football fans what they want, except there is one thing that the live stream won’t give you: the commercials. I find that very hard to believe, as advertisers pay millions of dollars for seconds of airtime. I wouldn’t be surprised if some ads got on there somehow, as Superbowl commercials are legendary. If it ends up that you don’t get those award-winning Super Bowl commercials, then you might like the usual NBC streaming features with DVR controls, different camera angles, highlights, statistics, as well as other bonuses. I’m sure that a lot of football fans are rejoicing right now, and I am sure that soon every major sporting event from the World Cup to the World Series. Quneo Music Software/Hardware Pad Controller Posted: 21 Dec 2011 05:00 AM PST What do an aspiring DJ, VJ, DIY hacker and electronic musicians have in common? Well, assuming this Kickstarter project actually takes off in a big way, then there you have the answer – the Quneo Music Software/Hardware Pad Controller. Keith McMillen Instruments (KMI) recently announced that the QuNeo 3D Multi-Touch Controller will soon be the leading light for next generation music software and hardware controllers. What makes the Quneo so special? Well, "3D Multi-Touch" technology translates to it being able to cater for pressure, velocity and location, swipes and pinching support. Pronounced kyoo-ne-oh, this controller will cover all the functionality of the rest, while introducing additional power of extra dimensions. The Quneo will bring to the table a cool 27 pads, sliders and rotary sensors with 3D Multi-Touch recognition for pressure, velocity, and location sensitivity, letting musicians play electronic sounds and alter their timbre (quality, brightness and volume) through the application of pressure. I suppose this would take some practice and getting used to before you know just the right amount of pressure to apply. Compared to first generation devices, controlling music software and hardware were limited. You had very few choices, including hitting a pad, twisting a knob, or pushing a button in order to manipulate sounds and effects. KMI has put to bed all of these restrictions, thanks to an innovative next generation range of Multi-Touch controllers, where they are the SoftStep, 12 Step, and now Quneo. Quneo basically transforms musical intent into audio through physical control of 3D Multi-touch sensor technology. Specially constructed with portability in mind, it will fit in iPad accessories and cases, ranging from clips, stands and more, thanks to the form factor which it comes in. This more or less saves you money in the long run as well for iPad owners, since your accessories and protective cases would do their job well to make sure they cling onto the Quneo just as good. There is a remarkable LED Light Feedback lumination scheme which will merge variably diffusive elastomers with 251 multi-color LEDs for visual feedback. When can you get your hands on the Quneo? It will be available this coming March 2012, and has been slapped with a $200 pre-sale price tag. Coolest Gadgets UK – For all your UK centric tech and gadget news.
