500GB My Passport Essential now come in limited edition designs Posted: 22 Jul 2010 05:00 PM PDT
Each of these drives will play nice with the Windows platform, and will ship with WD SmartWare software that offers a simple, visual method for backup. It is achieved via a single-screen view of the drive’s contents, and if you want to keep the data within all the more secure, it will also come with user-selected password protection alongside 256-bit hardware-based encryption for that added peace of mind. Those who are in the know will note that 256-bit hardware-based encryption is normally found only on much more expensive drive systems, so Western Digital is giving more bang for your buck here. Too bad you are limited by the choice of storage space – the new My Passport Essential limited edition designs are offered in one capacity, which is 500GB. Good thing it comes with a 2-year limited warranty just in case Mr. Murphy decides to strike in an extraordinary manner. Retailing for $119.99 a pop, we’re stoked to know that each of these portable hard drives come in planet-friendly packaging that is made out of recycled materials, although we would have liked to see it feature USB 3.0 connectivity as well to be future proof to a certain extent. Coin Sorter acts as home grown banker Posted: 22 Jul 2010 04:30 PM PDT If you’re the type who absolutely loves arranging everything in their proper position, then the Coin Sorter is definitely your cup of tea. After all, investing a mere £19.99 for this contraption will definitely save you a whole lot more time in the future, where this time can be used for other more productive pursuits. Capable of holding between 25 and 50 coins of each denomination in transparent tubes after sorting, all you need to do is pour out the sorted coins into a respective container or bag for future use. Posted: 22 Jul 2010 04:21 PM PDT Want to have some fun in your home? The Fog Filled Bubble Machine might just do the trick, as it is more or less guaranteed to keep little ones entertained especially during these summer month. This machine will actually fill up the air with bubbles that release plumes of eerie fog the moment they pop, being a whole lot more different compared to a regular bubble machine. Capable of churning out up to 150 bubbles per minute into the air, you can also choose to adjust the size of the bubbles produced, ranging from baseball-sized to table tennis ball-sized bubbles. There are separate reservoirs within the machine to hold fog solution. A full reservoir is good for up to 5 hours worth of bubbles (that’s around 8,000 if you’re a mathematician). Forget about throwing rice to keep a vampire occupied while you make haste this Halloween season – let him count the number of bubbles instead, and even if he does so in an instant, at least the released fog might slow him down somewhat. The Fog Filled Bubble Machine can be yours for $69.95. Conference Calendar – The global conference and expo finder. [ Fog Filled Bubble Machine copyright by Coolest Gadgets ] Related Posts: |
Posted: 22 Jul 2010 02:30 PM PDT The Butt Cooler Cushion doesn’t leave much room for guessing, they just go right to the point and don’t dance around the truth. You have to value that level of bluntness. This Thanko cushion is meant to make sure that even your posterior stays nice and cool while you’re sitting in front of a very warm computer. That’s one heck of an accomplishment to stay cool in the presence of a computer. The cushion is of course USB powered, being a Thanko product. The cushion has a integrated fan and even a USB adapter for your car. That means you can even use it while you’re out and about. Although somehow I doubt that carrying around a cushion like this is really going to attract the opposite sex. Then again, having sweat pouring off of you won’t help either. With the built-in fan it circulates the air and blows it right up your…well..you get the idea. You can purchase it for ¥5,200.00 or about $60 through Geek Stuff 4U. Posted: 22 Jul 2010 01:30 PM PDT Keeping cool all of the time during the summer is close to impossible. There are just some places that aren’t as well air conditioned as others. If you are particularly sweaty in those situations and want to try to stay cool, this little pocket fan should be of great use to you. It could easily fit into your pocket and the blades tuck away nicely so that you won’t have to worry about them breaking off while you’re carrying it around. These tiny fans come in two different colors, bright white and eggplant. The eggplant at least makes it look like the fan has a coat of leather over top of it. It comes with the batteries that are required, which is all of 1 AAA battery. You can purchase one of the fans for $12.95 through Solutions. Posted: 22 Jul 2010 12:30 PM PDT If you’re looking for something a little different as far as solar lights go you could pick up these Wild Grass Solar Garden Lights. You can jam the stakes into the ground and make it appear as if you have random tufts of grass glowing in the dark. If you have any extra gullible friends you could always convince them that the grass is a special variety that glows every single night. The set includes 3 sprigs of grass packed full of LED lights. Then of course there’s a handy little solar panel that charges up the rechargeable battery all day long. At night the lights kick on automatically and then shut off when the sun starts to come up. In order to run it’ll need 8 hours of sun to run for 6 hours in the evening. You can choose to keep the light steady or to flash. You can purchase it for $19.95 through Amazon. Posted: 22 Jul 2010 09:56 AM PDT I think this is the first time we’ve ever reported about a gadget especially for cows, introducing the Cow Wash, it does exactly what it says. The Cow Wash is created by Swedish firm DeLaval and they have sold over 30,000 which must amount to a serious number of clean cows. I did find the cow wash somewhat amoosing but it does offer some serious benefits:
The cow certainly looks content in the picture above. To see the cow wash in action check out the video. Coolest Gadgets UK – For all your UK centric tech and gadget news. [ Cow Wash, It’s Brand Moo copyright by Coolest Gadgets ] Related Posts: |

Autom robot helps you lose weight Posted: 21 Jul 2010 07:52 PM PDT As someone who is trying to lose weight, I have quickly learned how tough a fight it is going to be. I believe the Autom robot was designed to help out the user with their diet. It is up to the user to enter in the details of their diet, such has their fitness level. Just think of it as a WiiFit, except the white rectangle talks to you. The Autom has some sort of databank, and then it can carry on some conversations. I can only assume that these conversations are pretty one-sided, and Autom will tell you to “stick to your workout, fattie”. Okay, I added the “fattie” on the end there, but I think you see what is going on here. I have a video of it if you want to see it in action. This is kind of a spoiler, but the video says that Autom is going to be featured in the film Astro Boy. I seem to recall seeing that film last year, and I didn’t see it. Personally, I think this thing should make an appearance on The Biggest Loser. Apparently, there are plans to get this thing out soon. They will probably advertise it on The Biggest Loser along with all the other health products they sell. Cool Gift Idea: Digital Picture Frames, check out our reviews. AiRScouter head mounted display from Brother Posted: 21 Jul 2010 07:18 PM PDT I have covered a lot of head-mounted displays (HMD), such as the i-Bean, before. The AiRScouter is not like the Vuzix iWear, as it doesn’t have two viewers on each eye. It seems to be designed for viewing things with just one eye, for some sort of multi-tasking. For example, this might be good for an electrician who is doing repairs, and needs to have the schematic on hand. I believe that this device has a “Retinal Imaging Display”. I’m not really certain what this is, but I believe that Brother wants to use it for augmented reality applications. Considering that I have considered augmented reality one of the coolest gadgets ever, I am pleased to see that it just keeps getting bigger. Believe it or not, Brother unveiled this HMD back in 2008, and then again in 2009. It was unnamed had a completely different design. By the way, it is still in a prototype stage. Man, will this ever get into the hands of customers? Something tells me this isn’t designed for the typical consumer, but for the construction worker some sort of utility worker. If you want to see this AiRScouter, you can go to the Brother World JAPAN 2010 Expo in Tokyo for September. Coolest Gadgets UK – For all your UK centric tech and gadget news. Wedding ring can function as a crude projector Posted: 21 Jul 2010 06:40 PM PDT Most married people have a reminder of their commitment on their finger, and should have at least one wedding photo. What if you could have both of those in the same place? That’s right, it is a wedding ring with a photo inside. This picture will give you an idea of how small the photo is, but it will get bigger if you shine a light through it. In fact, you can project an image on the wall. My source does not have a measurement of how large the image is, nor how much light is required to make this projection. Best of all, you don’t have to just stick with one picture. The ring has the option of switching out slides, but they must be pretty tiny slides. Sounds pretty cool, doesn’t it? It also sounds like the perfect wedding gift. Too bad designers Luke Jerram and jeweler Tamrakar always say the same thing when they get a request for a second ring:
By the way, this ring was designed for Luke Jerram, one of the makers. Too bad it is a one-time-only, as I could easily see these being mass produced. Posted: 21 Jul 2010 06:30 PM PDT If you’re rich enough to own a pool in your own home, then chances are forking out $449.95 for the Six Person Motorized Oasis shouldn’t be too much of a headache for you. After all, it seats a good half dozen people inside, boasting integrated speakers to provide ambient music (or rock music if you prefer to electrify things a little bit), while a cooler makes sure everyone is kept happy with ice cold drinks during a hot summer afternoon. This self-propelled inflatable oasis is the perfect tool if you want to make merry in your pool, where its electric motor will help propel the lounger across a pool, lake, or any calm body of water at 2 mph. Fret not, you will still be in control thanks to its steering that comes in the form of an outboard-style handle. A quartet of waterproof 4.8-watt stereo speakers provide clear sound, but you will need to attach your iPod or compatible MP3 player to it via a sealed waterproof pocket. As long as the total number of people sitting in it do not weigh more than 900lbs, this will float. Cool Gift Idea: Digital Picture Frames, check out our reviews. Seagate has new addition in GoFlex family of hard drives Posted: 21 Jul 2010 06:00 PM PDT
You can choose from 1TB and 2TB capacities, depending on your needs at the moment as well as for the future. The GoFlex Home storage system offers a whole lot of storage space to help retain precious digital memories for this generation and the next. Another advantage over single-drive network solutions would be its modular design that allows the included drive to be upgraded when it becomes too small for your needs – all you need to do is remove the drive from the base and replace it with a larger capacity GoFlex Desk hard drive – this can be easily done without the need for any tools just in case you were wondering. Additional external storage can be added on the spot thanks to its USB port, which said port can also be used to wirelessly share a USB printer if you have a computer hooked up on the same network. Interested? The new GoFlex Home network storage system will retail for $159.99 and $229.99 for the 1TB and 2TB models, respectively. Coolest Gadgets UK – For all your UK centric tech and gadget news. ZAGG has a new solution for the antenna concern connected to the iPhone 4 Posted: 21 Jul 2010 05:48 PM PDT
According to Brian Packer, VP of Marketing for ZAGG, "We are thrilled to offer this solution to help customers get the most out of their iPhone 4. Nobody wants to hide that amazing device behind a bulky case just to save the signal, and by using the invisibleSHIELD or ZAGGskins, they don't need to." His sentiment is echoed that way simply because conclusions from internal tests, independent lab tests and research with consumers in the wireless industry point towards the invisibleSHIELD and ZAGGskins doing their bit in preventing a loss of signal strength which has been attributed to placing the hand over the antennas on the lower left-hand corner of the handset. If you are interested to give your iPhone 4 the most discreet form of protection possible, the invisibleSHIELD Full Body Maximum Coverage will retail for $24.99 a pop, while the ZAGGskin is going for $19.99. The Complete Sides Only Coverage will specifically target the antenna concern, where it will set you back by $9.99. Seems that there is a solution for everyone with an iPhone 4, depending on the type and amount of protection you want your smartphone to have.
