Gun and/or suicide fanatics can now have the perfect set of earphones. These earphones are made to look like a pair of 9MM bullets. Now having a fake bullet jammed in your ear my be perceived as somewhat disturbing, but at least they’re not working bullets. Besides, they have a pretty shiny gold exterior to give them a much more classy look.

Not only do they look gold, they are plated in actual 18K gold. They don’t screw around when it comes to their fake bullets. These are sold by Munitio, but they’re not being released just yet. Sadly since these are incredibly nice gold noise canceling earphones, they’re not what I’d call cheap. Once they’re released later this month they’ll go for $250.

Everyone has an iPod anymore, which makes it far less cool than when Apple products were only used by a very small elite group. Those of you that are just absolutely sick and tired of blending in, now Think Geek has a solution for you. Toss out that iPod and pick up yourself the Kube. The Kube is a tiny little MP3 player that’ll hold quite a few of your songs.

Sure, it won’t show the songs that are coming up, nor does it really let you skip around, but that’s not much worse than having an itty bitty iPod Shuffle. The whole thing only stands all of 1 inch tall and weighs 18 grams. Once the built-in Lithium Polymer battery is all charged it is capable of playing continuously for 6 hours. You can store up to 8,000 songs on the included 2GB Micro SD card. It also comes with earphones, an SD adapter, a USB Cable and a handy little manual. You can purchase it for $34.99 through Think Geek.

TV Flash Lamp hides TV

Sometimes it’s nice not to have all of your technology on display. I’m a big one that I really don’t want to be able to see the TV all the time in my bedroom, but I like having one in there for rare occasions when I want to lay down and watch TV. Thankfully one designer has created a creative way to hide your small flat panel TV. Instead of stashing it in an armoire, you could hide it inside of this Flash Lamp.

Normally it’ll look like just a chunky lamp, with a working light and everything. Then it can easily transform to reveal your LCD TV. It can hide one of up to 23 inches in size. Then after you’re finished it just slides back into place and can be used as a regular lamp. This is a design by Denis Santachiara done for Roche Bobois. Sadly, there isn’t much information on how to purchase it, but you could always contact the designer to see if it is available for purchase.

The Papervore Coffee Table Paper Shredder

This next gadget is known as Papervore from Voos Furniture. It is actually a shredder that works as a coffee table as well. So instead of having a shredder in your office like most people do, this would be in your living room, I guess.

You will note that there is no cord, but there is a crank. Yes, it is a crank-powered one, so you don’t worry about tripping over a cord.

My Source mentioned that probably the only use of a coffee table is to destroy evidence a la Ollie North. I can’t think of why anyone would want to quickly shred some documents. Are you in some illicit business that needs documents shredded in a hurry?

Now, perhaps you have a fireplace near your coffee table, and you can use these shreds for kindling. That, or maybe you have a pet who eats paper, or papervore.

After all, if you look at the etymology of “papervore”, I would imagine that it would be related to carnivore (meat-eating beast), herbivore (plant-eating beast) and omnivore (beast that eats anything). So this would be a creature that eats paper.

I think the price is a little high at $1,250. Of course, if you have some business that requires some shredding in the living room, then I suppose that this could be worth it.

What we are seeing here is a cable crawler, which is designed to check for cable defects and problems in power lines. Such problems in the power lines can range from overheating to cable noise, and then relay that data to utilities via satellite and cellular phone signals.

You can see the solar panels on the thing, which is all right when it is sunny, but it has a backup power system. I believe that it can also gain energy from the wires that it is traveling on.

It looks like it travels along like a zip line, and it is bigger than it looks at six feet long. It is also heavier than it looks as this apparatus weighs about 140 pounds. So it can zip along at about 3 miles per hour, and designed for covering 160 miles a year. This could cost utilities less than $500,000, which is a lot cheaper than usual.

They want to do initial testing for later this month, with full-fledged trials in 2014 along the 275-mile on the Potomac-Appalachian Transmission Highline. I have a quick question though. I’ve seen these powerlines on poles, and I don’t see how I can get the robots to go from pole to pole?

Communication Gadget Concept

Presenting a concept gadget for communication so cool it is only known as the Communication Gadget.

As you can see, that metal tube has some “pop-out” feet and can project a keyboard and some textual display there. I am assuming that there is some sort of sensor to detect the fingers tapping for input.

This isn’t the first time that I have seen a device with a projected keyboard before with sensors, but this one can directly to an ICQ server.

The text above this keyboard must be just text, and I don’t see any possibility of it doing any more advanced graphics than this. After all, it only has a red laser thing going on.

I think that we all know that this is where computers and mobiles are headed. That is, a projector that can make a keyboard and display and make any wall, tabletop, floor, or ceiling into a PC.

You know what it reminds me of? One of those old pneumatic tubes back in the day. I don’t think anyone uses those any more, but my bank’s drive-thru still has them.

This also reminds me of the LuminAR robotic desk lamp that MIT student Nathan Linder created the other day, presumably in his spare time.
