Sony Ericsson Fans: Now Hear These!

Posted: 04 Jan 2012 07:49 AM PST

The LiveSound™ hi-fi headset, for exclusive use with most Sony Ericsson phones treats your ears, enables hands free operation and keeps you looking stylish. Having received a pair to test I found it gives a rich, full sound. Though many earbuds lose sound quality, LiveSound headset held on to highs and lows and did a great job in isolating from outside noise. As a headset the microphone easily picked up my conversation too. Music was automatically paused for incoming calls and resumed upon hang up.

Along with the microphone, the left cord contains volume, mute functions, play/pause and next track/previous track controls and the LiveKey™ button. Yes, the LiveSound™ hi-fi headset is also compatible with Android LiveKey™ technology. Press the button and, with LiveWare Application Manager installed, compatible apps enable you to take pictures and videos or use voice commands to send texts and emails or even control sports apps while you exercise. All from the convenience of your headset!

In true Sony style the LiveSound™ hi-fi headset adds flare to the Ericsson look. Plus the flat, tangle-free cord means no more scrambling to untie a cable mess that other headset cords inevitably form.

Available in four color combinations you can find one to fit your look. The headset comes with four sets of tips in two colors to fit any ear or preference. So though the left earphone tends to fall out due to the weight of the controls on the cord, you can adjust the tip for a snug fit.

If you are an Ericsson owner the LiveSound™ hi-fi headset is THE way to go handsfree!

How Biscotti can enable video chats

Posted: 04 Jan 2012 06:30 AM PST

I recently read an article about how The Jetsons was supposed to take place in the year 2062, which is about one hundred years from when it first premiered in 1962. We are about halfway there at 2012, and while we don’t have the flying cars, we do have video chatting.

The video chats on the Jetsons were always done with giant-sized TV displays, rather than the corner of the screen that we normally do it with on Skype or Google Talk. I believe that Biscotti, which we have reported about before, will give us all the video chats that the Jetsons have.

I finally had a chance to try out the Biscotti, and even though I tried it out on my own HDTV to communicate with a computer less than fifty feet away, I felt like I was finally arriving in the future. The Biscotti allows me to take a video call on my giant screen living room television, just like Marty McFly in Back to the Future II.

The only problem I had was during setup, and I realized there is a reason why the instructions specify to mount the camera mount first. I found that once the unit was touched in some way, it would often result in shutting off and on again.

All in all, I would recommend it for those who want the video chat communication via living room TV. You can get it for about $199 right here.

Shogun Bros. Chameleon X-1 Gamepad/Mouse

Posted: 04 Jan 2012 06:30 AM PST

I think the best gadgets are the ones that I wish I had thought up first. In this case, I wonder why most PC games don’t have more console-style controls. It was the same issue that I brought up with the 60beat iPad gaming accessory yesterday.

I’m not certain if the Chameleon X-1 mouse by Shogun Bros. is the first product of its type, but I don’t see why every mouse can’t have console-like controls on its underbelly. After all, who wouldn’t want to just flip their mouse over and then play their game? I personally can’t stand the W, A, S, D type movement.

It would appear that the gaming mouse is designed for Assassin’s Creed Revelations, and it has been decorated with leather mouse buttons.

I say, why stop with a gaming mouse that is only made for one game? In fact, I’m wondering if the Shogun Bros. have thought about that too, as it would appear to have buttons for play/pause, stop, music, and others. You have to look very close on the image to see them, though.

This gaming mouse will make an appearance at CES 2012, in colors of “Altair white” and “Ezio grey”. Shogun Bros. will also have some other cool problems on display, and I can’t wait to see them.

Take a walk inside the Big Bang

Posted: 04 Jan 2012 06:00 AM PST

Thanks to modern movies, most of us have seen way too many explosions. Of course, very few films have attempted to show us what it looks like to be inside of an explosion.

A Chinese sculptor named Zhan Wang is trying to show the inside of an explosion with this sculpture that you see here, entitled My Personal Universe. In looks like Wang is trying to show us what it might be like to be in the biggest explosion of all, the Big Bang.

In order to inspire his creation, Wang actually blew up an actual boulder and filmed it with six high-definition video cameras in different locations at about 2,000 frames per second. From there, he was able to hang about 5,000 realistic steel boulders to create this awesome effect.

Not only did Wang scientifically hang these thousands of boulders for a realistic effect, but the exhibit has giant video screens of the explosion that he filmed.

Zhan Wang’s My Personal Universe is going to be on display at Beijing Ullens Center for Contemporary Art until February 26, 2012. I can’t imagine what will happen to all the rocks afterward, and I am certain that just walking through this exhibit will be quite an experience.

NuForce gives your ears a treat

Posted: 04 Jan 2012 05:30 AM PST

Everyone should have a favorite song – or at least a pretty reasonable list of them, and in order to maximize your enjoyment of those songs, you will obviously need a high quality recording version of the tune, in addition to having good hardware to go along with it. For those who tend to do a whole lot of traveling and listen to their music on-the-go, a decent pair of headphones or earphones are always more than welcome, and NuForce has got your back with their latest releases – the NE-600X and NE-770X models.

Thanks to NuForce’s knowledge of the industry, they have consistently received high amounts of praise from audiophiles and consumers alike where high-performance audio products are concerned, and it does seem to look to me as though these two earbuds are continued proof of that expertise.

According to Jason Lim, CEO of NuForce, "We set out to develop the best sounding earphones at a price the average consumer could afford without sacrificing sound quality. We've pushed the limits and created the NE-600X and NE-770X, where we've managed to develop outstanding products that hit a wide price range with products that will please even the most astute music enthusiast."

The NuForce NE-600X is said to deliver unprecedented performance for a pair of budget conscious earbuds, sporting detailed engineering and high-efficiency acoustic design that ensures you will be able to enjoy excellent bass, a harmonically correct tonality, a deeply layered soundstage and superb sound isolation. Not only that, the bane of most standard earphones would be having its wires getting all tangled up – that won’t happen to the NE-600X since it has a flat self-untangling OFC wire, as well as advanced extra-large drivers for excellent bass impact. All of that for a mere $24.95, sounds like a bargain, doesn’t it?

As for the higher end NuForce NE-770X, this pair of earbuds does take a lot from its award-winning sibling, the NE-700X, albeit with one major difference. It will come with non-metallic drivers as those sip less juice, making them perfect for use with mobile devices, delivering a natural and supremely musical sonic signature without having to sacrifice dynamic punch or wide-band frequency response. Expect to fork out $49 for the NE-770X.

Samsung preps new Audio Dock for CES 2012

Posted: 04 Jan 2012 05:00 AM PST

Samsung knows that CES is a big show to be at each year, and this year, they do not intend to disappoint, either. In fact, the South Korean consumer electronics giant intends to roll out a new range of audio dock systems which will boast of breakthrough innovation that delivers rich sound qualities that are comparable to premium audio systems. These audio dock systems will also be easy on the eyes – pleasing, even, as they have been stylishly designed in order to look right in place regardless of what your home’s internal decoration and set up looks like.

Samsung's Audio Dock with Vacuum Tube Amplifier is touted to be the world's first docking system which will incorporate Samsung's proprietary hybrid vacuum tube amplifier technology, while being able to play nice with the wide range of Galaxy S and iOS-powered devices through the use of its dock, and you also have the option to go wireless with the DA-E750 model. More to come right after the jump.

The Samsung DA-E750 Audio Dock, as mentioned above, is the company's first speaker dock and features Samsung's exclusive hybrid vacuum tube amplifier technology. This will let your ears enjoy a digital amplifier's sharp clarity alongside the rich and warm sound performance of vacuum tubes, ensuring that even the most demanding (OK, maybe not so) audiophile will still be able to enjoy what they deem to be “a pure listening experience”. Vacuum tubes amplifiers used to be in premium audio products previously, but it has now arrived in the mainstream without requiring you to break the bank. Capable of supporting both the Galaxy S smartphones in addition to iOS devices such as the iPod, iPhone, and even iPad, you get a 2.1-channel speaker and powerful built-in subwoofer with 100 watts of sound.

Not only that, there is an analog (composite) input and a USB port which will enable yu to play audio files straight off a thumb drive, music player or portable hard drive. Supported file formats include MP3, WMA and WAV. No idea on pricing just yet though, so hopefully CES 2012 will shed more light on the situation.
