Toothpaste Dispenser dispenses at push of a button Posted: 03 Dec 2009 03:00 PM PST Some might consider the tube toothpaste comes within to be the dispenser. However, if you are tired of squeezing that ridiculous tube of toothpaste now you can press a button instead. Clearly that’s putting far less work into the whole affair than you would have had to put into things before. Now don’t you wish everything could be done by pushing a little button? The dispenser attaches to the wall with an adhesive sticker, which is in fact included in the deal. Then you just put the toothpaste into the inlet. They don’t mention if the toothpaste needs to be the normal type tube or not though. To purchase your very own plastic dispenser it’ll cost you $6.99 from Giz Fever. At least despite that it’s a silly product to have around, it won’t cost you too much money. Source: Ubergizmo Tech Cult – We cover the latest tech news, but always with a funny twist. Zerokill Reflectors to help cut down on roadkill Posted: 03 Dec 2009 02:03 PM PST I’ve had my fair share of close calls when it comes to hitting deer, I’ve actually only hit one rabbit. Considering how many animals I’ve managed to dodge, believe me, that’s an accomplishment. Anything that would make the odds of hitting an animal of any size less likely would make driving a lot less hazardous for a great deal of drivers. This solar powered animal warning system charges all day long. It gives off a subtle blinking LED light that flips on when it detects an animal nearby. It alerts the motorist so that they can slow down. It also reflects the oncoming car’s headlights. It makes it so the light bounces sideways in order to warn the animals and hopefully get them to run the other direction. Right now these Zerokill reflectors are just a concept by Sungi Kim and Hozin Song. Source: Yanko Check out the Coolest Gadgets 2008 Gift Guides, Christmas shopping made easy. Posted: 03 Dec 2009 11:51 AM PST Despite the fact that radios that looked like this speaker were popular a bit before some of us were even born, doesn’t mean you can’t be envious of the style those radios featured. If sleek plastic speakers aren’t your style this Woody MP3 Speaker & Radio is a refreshing change. It’s small enough to make it travel friendly and it does give the option to just use the radio. This 1000 milliwatt speaker has an included 3.5 mm cable to make it easier to hook up to any MP3 player that you might use. The antenna can work as a stand, a carrying handle or be used to pick up AM/FM radio stations. It’s not exactly something you’d carry in your pocket since it measures 2.5" by 5", but it’s still not a bad size. It’ll run on 3 AA batteries and despite that it doesn’t hook up to a USB port to charge, you could always use rechargeable batteries to get that eco-friendly appeal. You can purchase the speaker for $30 through Fred Flare. Source: ChipChick Check out the Coolest Gadgets 2008 Gift Guides, Christmas shopping made easy. Posted: 03 Dec 2009 05:30 AM PST Going up on a flight is fun the first few times, but getting stuck in the air for seemingly unending hours gets boring fast, especially when you and the other few hundred people are crammed in Sardine Class…er, I meant, Economy. In order to make your journey a slightly more pleasant one, how about giving the Airplane Seat Back Valet a go?
Sounds like the perfect way to maximize the limited amount of space that you have in front of you. I do wonder whether this will impede passenger movement during an emergency evacuation or not though. The Airplane Seat Back Valet is going for $39.95 a pop. Posted: 03 Dec 2009 05:00 AM PST The iPod (or any other MP3/portable media player for that matter) is great if you’re one who loves keeping yourself entertained whenever you wait for the next bus or train or even across a trans-Atlantic journey, but will it be of use when you host a party? Well, there are iPod speaker docks for those, but there is also another solution in the form of the iXtreme Amplified Speaker.
Makes us wonder just how far your $29.95 will bring you audio-wise with the iXtreme Amplified Speaker. I must say, I do have my reservations about its capability of pumping out room shaking sound. Wind power and e-vehicles to combat climate change Posted: 03 Dec 2009 04:30 AM PST Most of the world’s eyes are fixed upon the leaders who will congregate at Copenhagen, Denmark from next week onwards with regard to the climate and its change, but while the world leaders are busy discussing on a macro level on methods to save the earth from dying due to over-population and pollution, the working class (that’s us!) need not sit back and do nothing. No sir, we can do our part by spreading the word on various ways to keep the earth green, or if you’re more ambitious, learn more about a real-life project that is currently underway which will utilize renewable wind energy to power electric vehicles. This is currently happening on the small Danish island of Bornholm, where government, academia and industry are working hand-in-hand on an innovative pilot program known as the EDISON Project. The EDISON Project could offer unique technical insights which will go some ways in addressing the challenges of combining renewable energy with EVs. Copenhagen utility DONG Energy is currently collaborating with regional energy company of Oestkraft, the Technical University of Denmark, Siemens, Eurisco and the Danish Energy Association, and IBM to develop the system. Depending on how far consumers allow them to go, current electric vehicles could rely on the system created to charge their exhausted batteries whenever the wind generates excess power. Needless to say, vehicle charging will be slowed or delayed whenever the wind stops, resulting in reduction of energy production. The main goal behind this is not to save the world in the blink of an eye, but to use this as a model for deploying an estimated 200,000 wind-powered EVs nationwide by 2020. Denmark is certainly on the right track as they’re currently a leader in wind power, churning over 20% of the country's electric power, with the current goal of doubling that amount. Apart from that, they’re not short on expertise as around half the wind turbines produced worldwide hail from Danish manufacturers. Pro-Health system for your teeth Posted: 03 Dec 2009 04:00 AM PST
The Pro-Health system will comprise of the Oral-B ProfessionalCare SmartSeries 5000 with SmartGuide, some Crest Pro-Health Toothpaste and Crest Pro-Health Rinse to get you started. Do you think this is a gift worth purchasing for someone? After all, the recipient might get a wee bit sensitive and emotional, thinking that you probably purchased this because he/she unknowingly has bad breath all the time. All in all, the Pro-Health system will offer the best of both worlds, coupling mechanical action and chemical action to get users virtually plaque free while keeping them that way as well throughout the month of December and beyond – if used regularly and correctly, of course. When we say mechanical action, it points towards Oral-B's oscillating-rotating technology that will help loosen and sweep away plaque to provide superior plaque removal benefits without having to visit your dentist and suffering under the bright lights. Stabilized stannous fluoride that is included within Crest Pro-Health Toothpaste helps inhibit the metabolic activity of destructive bacteria, while cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) found in Crest Pro-Health Rinse will prevent the regrowth of plaque biofilm. Any takers out there who are willing to give this a shot? Don’t think you’d lose much anyways, but will gain a much more sociable outlook in the process. Posted: 02 Dec 2009 04:50 PM PST I’ve seen and read about enough tragic accidents happening to Fidos all over the world as they dash out from the yard at night only to get hit by a fast moving vehicle, often resulting in serious injuries as well as death. Why take your chances with fate when you can always let Fido wear the Spotlit LED Collar Light?
Available in white or red LEDs, they will both retail for £7.95 each and are powered by a couple of 2016 3V batteries. Prevention is better than cure, that much I can say. Posted: 02 Dec 2009 04:48 PM PST I’m quite sure that most of you out there already have a veritable collection of keychains which have been amassed over the years – from conventions and events as well as cheapskate relatives who can’t think of anything better to buy whenever they go off on a holiday to a faraway place. The Tao Digital Photo Keychains are different, however, being £9.99 a pop (certainly not touristy in any way) while allowing you to view a handful of your favorite digital memories thanks to its 1.5″ color display.
Not too sure whether the low resolution and tiny display is enough to make it suitable for viewing with the older folks who might just find it extra hard when trying to make out just what they’re looking at.
