A Grill and Then Some

I don't care if it is winter, spring, summer or fall. I love grilling! Don the cap and mittens, grab an umbrella or bask in the sun. The taste of anything grilled over wood or charcoal far exceeds that of oven cooked anything. But a grill alone really is not sufficient. It would be nice to cook other items on the grill. And what if you want to smoke something? That usually requires a whole new device. Surely some ancient civilizations figured out how to master the cooking of stuff without all our modern conveniences.

What many grilling aficionados have found is the importance of ceramic clay and the kamodo style cooking – added flavor and juiciness. Many cultures through the years have used these dome shaped vessels to cook with wood and later charcoal. So why not us? The kamodo market is growing. And the Big Green Egg® has proven to be the largest producer of the earthen cooking devices. Made with a ceramic originally developed for NASA, these green guys prove to be more stronger than the competition and provide better heat insulation.  Heck, they are so durable people hand them down from generation to generation. The precision temperature gauge means you can track your grilling up to 750° F (400° C). The Big Green Egg does more than grill too. Insert a plate setter to create indirect heat and use as an oven. And the ceramic's properties enable it to sustain low temperatures – perfect for smoking. The Ceramic means no burning yourself on the grill too. Eggs come in 5 sizes, with plenty of accessories to compliment it. Units start at about $400, but check their locator to find your local egg dealer for prices as the Big Green Egg Company does not sell direct. And biggreenegg.com contains plenty of tips, ideas and recipes perfect for the device. So if grilling is key to your existence, check into the benefits of ceramic clay cooking and the one-of-a-kind Big Green Egg.

Coming Soon: Black Cabs with Wi-Fi

London is a busy town. Within the hustle and bustle are the hearts of many global brands, industries and interests and a bunch of tourists. People constantly come and go at all hours of the day, whether by mass transit, cabs or personal cars. Traffic becomes a nightmare. In fact, during the summer Olympics they cleared certain lanes to make them 'Olympic officials and athletes only' as one of the greatest fears was the traffic becoming a hindrance to the games. Another Olympic move was to add free wi-fi at select Underground stations – which will be expanded in the coming year. Next up? The black cabs.

Transport for London, the local transit authority, recently approved a plan to outfit the famous London black cabs with advertising funded wi-fi access beginning in 2013. A local startup company, Eyetease, will supply the technology and secure advertisers. “CabWifi” will offer 15 minutes of free service for watching a 15 second advertisement.  Service will occur on a Mi-Fi router via 3G and 4G networks. So whether you are a local business person catching up on email while en route to a meeting or a tourist not wanting to use expensive data roaming or any other type of “net needer” the black cabs will be your friend! And with this move London will continue to push itself to be a truly connected city.

iPhone Powered Personal Fan

So you are the living epitome for the phrase, "There's an app for that", and your iPhone proves it. Well, now that you have more or less conquered what the app universe has to offer, how about picking up the whole slew of accessories that are available to the entire iPhone family? Third party accessories manufacturers have had a field day with Apple's iPhone success, and some of those have proved to be useful (especially the different camera attachments that produce some zany photo results), while others tend to lean more on the novelty side. With the $12.99 iPhone Powered Personal Fan, you know that this self-descriptive device gets the job done, especially during those sweltering summers.

Coming in a small, lightweight, and discreet form factor, it will not only run on your iPhone, it is compatible with all iPhones – yes sir, all the way back to the original 2007 rock from Steve Jobs, and also the iPod touch family. Relying on minimal power to run, you can be the ultimate "fanboy" or "fangirl", pun intended. The blade itself is made out of flexible material, and is lightweight in construction, while its extremely quiet motor ought to keep you cool and comfortable without making a racket. Bear in mind that since this works with the 30-pin connector, it will not play nice with your iPhone 5.

ZAGGKeys PRO folio+ for your iPad

If you own an iPad and figured out that for the longest time, the main and only accessory that you need for Apple's best selling tablet would be a keyboard accessory, perhaps it is time to check out the ZAGGKeys PRO folio+? First of all, bear in mind that the ZAGGKeys PRO folio+ is not exactly the newest kid on the block, but this rather slim portfolio case for your iPad will feature a built-in keyboard – just the thing you have been looking for all this while. After all, typing on a virtual screen without any kind of feedback that the virtual keys deliver can be quite disconcerting, especially for those of us who have spent the better part of our lives in front of a computer keyboard.

The ZAGGKeys PRO folio+ will not disappoint, as it delivers the clicky-click of keys whenever you are hacking away at that 100 page document. To make things classier, the ZAGGKeys PRO folio+ will also come with a magnetic closure in order to secure the iPad whenever you carry it around. Not only that, to add that touch of zest, the PRO folio+ boasts of an adjustable backlight with 7 colors, making it easy to recognize whenever you work in the dark, or need to pull it out from your bag in low light conditions. The asking price could purchase you another tablet of a different operating system persuasion, so I will leave it to you whether the $129.99 asking price is worth or not.
