How does this green initiative work? Well, customers can easily reuse the packaging to ship old wireless phones, batteries, accessories and data cards with a postage-paid paper mailing label. Basically, this menas you can use the label and box which comes with your phone inside to repackage your old equipment for recycling in under a minute without costing you a single penny more. Sprint will then go ahead to recycle both the equipment and the box. Self-Weighing Suitcase

Posted: 10 May 2010 02:08 PM PDT

Going to the airport only to discover that your bag weighs just enough to get you slapped with some extra fees is not a happy experience.  Thankfully there are more and more small gadgets that can easily be concealed within your suitcase that allow for you to weigh it before you get to the airport.  That way even if you’ve picked up a whole lot of trinkets while on your trip, you’ll know just where you stand.  Yet there’s one more option out there now, instead of packing a gadget that weighs your suitcase, this suitcase weighs itself.

Personally I am not a huge fan of things like this.  In my mind it’s like the TV/VCR combination, the VCR always died way before the TV.  Then you had a useless gadget attached to something perfectly useful.  Then again, this is just a small add on and it won’t require you to remember to pack anything extra.  At the end of the day, it really just depends on which method you find the most convenient.  If you do like this way better, you can pick one up for  £69.95 or about $105.

Barbellfish makes it easier to put on weights

Posted: 10 May 2010 01:31 PM PDT

Barbells are one of those things that probably don’t need to be improved, but of course, we as human beings will always try.

Such is the case with the Barbellfish. You know how you normally put on barbel weights by putting them on a bar, screwing them on and off? The Barbellfish is designed to make the process a lot easier.

As you can see by the illustration, the user can remove the weights by simply using the handle, and putting them in the proper slot. I am going to assume that they somehow lock into place, because you don’t want to have these falling apart on you as you try and lift them over your head. It looks like they can split apart at the bottom for that ability.

Clearly this product had its name derived from the babel fish from the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series.

Well, this Barbellfish will probably still be concept for now, but I think it is an idea whose time has come. After all, it isn’t really good for your back to lift those weights and extend your arm to put them on bars. Seriously, it isn’t.

So let’s hope we’ll see this at your local gym.

Takoyaki Adaptor makes charging pretty

Posted: 10 May 2010 01:14 PM PDT

Most of us have resigned ourselves to just using those tan or white powerstrips to keep all of our gadgets up and running.  Sure, they’re by no means attractive, but they do the job well enough that we cope with the plain looks.  Thankfully, at least designers are still putting out an effort to come up with new and interesting ways to keep things powered.  Not only does this plug look pretty, but it offers an extra twist that makes the gadget more convenient.

When you plug in a device, a ring around the socket will instantly light up with a pretty blue light.  If you pop off one of the balls it can be converted to charge your cellphone wirelessly.  You just lay your dead cellphone on the right spot and it’ll come back to life again.  Sadly the Takoyaki Adaptor is currently a concept design and nothing more.

Crows Nest Anti-Pirate UAV

Posted: 10 May 2010 12:56 PM PDT

I found this interesting concept vehicle this morning, but I don’t think it is properly named. It is called the Crows Nest Anti-Pirate UAV.

Now, you are probably thinking that this is some new Unmanned Aerial Vehicle that is designed to take out pirates. Sounds cool, doesn’t it? Like some sort of brand-new series like Pirate Busters. It could be fictional action show or reality show.

However, you should know that this UAV is just 12 inches tall and 24 inches long. Yeah, that’s sort of like sending a model airplane to hit someone in the face. I suppose that could knock the wind out of a pirate. Best case scenerio, it could knock them off of the ship.

Har! I do be thinkin’ that the Crows Nest Anti-Pirate UAV is the bane of my existence. Those things are tough to swat!

You hear what I am saying. These things are not designed to take on pirate single-handed. I think the purpose of this UAV is either a toy or something to prevent piracy overall. After all, it comes with an HD video camera on board, as well as a GPS so the UAV knows where its going.

Well, I can’t wait to see if this ever gets to be mass-produced. I suppose we’ll either have the latest flying toy or a new way of patrolling the seas.

Pool Luminary dives and floats

Posted: 10 May 2010 12:07 PM PDT

There are a whole lot of gadgets that can be used to make a miniature light show inside of your bath tub.  That’s great for anyone who takes baths instead of showers on a very regular basis, but it still makes it so the light show isn’t enjoyed by many.  Instead you should get something for your pool and then all of your guests can enjoy the colorful display of lights.

The fun thing about this light is that it doesn’t just float and create the lights in one small area.  You can set it to dive down into the depths of the water and then float all the way back up again.  If you don’t want it bobbing up and down, you can also just set it to float.  Then you can also choose between rapid or slow flashing lights.  Each one measures 7 inches tall and if you buy 3 or more they become slightly cheaper.  For one it’s $29.95 and for 3 they become $27.95 a piece through Solutions.

Loftbox 101 folds your meeting place into a box

Posted: 10 May 2010 11:19 AM PDT

Some of you might remember when we covered the gentleman in Hong Kong who could shift his walls around in his 344 square foot apartment to make it a 24-room mansion.

This is the Loftbox 101, a “one stop” room. As you can see, it looks like something that you would see in a passenger train.

What you don’t see is that this seat and bench with the really drab color can fold itself up into an ottoman like contraption that takes up far less room than this.

By the way, do you see that device that is in the lower right corner of the screen? That is actually a monitor. I suppose that you could set this up for some sort of movie party, and put the popcorn and drinks on the bench.

I suppose that this Loftbox 101 is designed to essentially be a basic startup kit for a loft. I suppose that you could have some nice meeting place in the day, and then fold it up and sleep on it at night. The Loftbox 101 looks like a giant pillow anyway.

Well, it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing this on the market any time soon, but it is a step in the right direction for space-saving.
