Lower the Price & Deal with the Ads?

Posted: 03 Sep 2012 01:44 PM PDT

Amazon is slated to announce – what most believe to be – the second generation Kindle Fire later this week. The Wall Street Journal online and many other outlets are reporting rumors that the new tablet is designed to compete with the Nexus 7 and reportedly will come in under the price of the Nexus and similar to other competitors. How is that possible? Ta-dah! With advertisements. Rumors state that, similar to previous ad-supported Kindle's, Amazon plans to offer both a standard and ad-supported Fire. The question we pose to CoolestGadget followers is: how much savings is enough for you to use an ad-supported tablet? 10%? 30%? 50%? What would it take?

Sony 84-inch 4K LCD TV to kickstart global launch at the end of this year

Posted: 03 Sep 2012 06:30 AM PDT

Sony is first off the blocks by rolling out the industry’s largest 84″ class TV sometime at the end of this year, delivering high-resolution large screen picture and action that will be accompanied by high-quality powerful sound in order to deliver an immersive experience for viewers, letting you enjoy TV in a totally new way – I myself personally think that a large screen TV offers by far and large a more immersive experience compared to that of a 3D TV. What do you think? Let us check out what else the 84-inch TV is able to deliver right out of the box, right after the jump, shall we not?

To put it in a nutshell, the spanking new Sony Bravia will boast of a 4K (3840 x 2160) LCD panel, offering four times the resolution of current Full High Definition TVs that are in the market. This new TV will incorporate Sony’s 4K X-Reality PRO super-resolution high picture quality engine in order to get the job done, where this particularly formidable combination is able to seamlessly deliver high-resolution large-screen picture with high-quality powerful sound without missing a beat. I guess this is one TV that I will have to experience an eyes-on in order to fully grasp what I am writing about here.

About the 4K LCD panel? Well, it comprises, of approximately 8.29-megapixels, which is 4 times the resolution of Full HD standard as mentioned earlier, allowing you to reproduce a range of content with different resolutions, ranging from HD digital broadcasts to content from Blu-ray discs. Viewers need not worry about the pixels, while letting you notice images which are breathtakingly realistic and beautifully clear, courtesy of its wide 60-degree viewing angle, never mind if you sit as much as half the distance to the display – when you compare it to viewing something at Full HD resolution.

You know for sure that this is going to be one expensive TV to own, where we are most probably looking at a price tag which is easily capable of purchasing a nice family sedan with some spare change left over to boot.

Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver Electric Toothbrush

Posted: 03 Sep 2012 05:30 AM PDT

Oh look, what do we have here? Another Dr. Who device that will definitely charm the masses. The thing is, Dr. Who deals plenty with time machines, time travel and such, so do you think it would make perfect sense for a time-travelling toothbrush to make an appearance? If you have answered in the affirmative, then you will be pleased to hear that £11.99 will net you the Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver Electric Toothbrush. After all, even Time Lords are able to develop tartar as well as gingivitis, hence having something as simple perfunctory as a toothbrush attachment for the Sonic Screwdriver makes plenty of sense.

Of course, you are not able to change TV channels with this puppy, but at least you know that this is an officially licensed product, and has also gained approval from dentists to boot – across many dimensions, of course. A single AA battery is all that is required to power this puppy. Would you go manual instead if you run out of juice on this?

Since the Nintendo WIi introduced motion-based gaming, the Sonic Screwdriver Programmable TV Remote would be yet another device that introduces another model to the gesture-based universal remote control family. You can be your own Time Lord, although the only time you would be wasting away would be if you were to watch TV shows all day long.
