X-Cool is a new gaming look for the calculator

Do you remember the day when a calculator was a separate tool from your cellular phone? Man, I can still remember the days when pocket calculators were expensive. They were really big back in the late seventies when the tech got small and cheap, but I highly doubt there is a big market for them now.

This particular calculator is known as the X-Cool, and it is a very obvious attempt to make math look cool by turning this calculator into a mod of a video game controller. The fact that the calculator has X in its title is a definite indicator of the X-box 360 controller that it is similar to, but it has the color of a PS3 one.

I like how the addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division signs are on the left, where a movement joystick would be. Then all the other keys are where the firing would be. I have no idea what the “bumpers” do, but I like where the CE and equals keys are placed. As for the numbers, that’s probably where they belong.

So, whether you are a math nerd or a gaming nerd, this would be the calculator for you. You should be able to get it for about $13.99.

I usually don’t report on video games here on Coolest Gadgets, unless there is something that sets them apart from the norm like Kung Fu Live.

I believe that I have found the perfect example of “something different” with PewPewPewPewPewPewPewPewPew. This is the actual name of the game, and you can see in the video after the jump of why it is called that. You can also see that the title of the game didn’t fit.

This game with the long name is an Xbox Live Indie game that uses two ordinary Rock Band microphones or Xbox 360 headsets. One player makes the “pffft” sounds on a jetpack to make the guy in the game rise, and the other character makes the Pew-pew sounds for shooting obstacles in the path.

I’m guessing that the guy who does the jetpack noise will probably run out of breath first. Then again, the guy who is blasting might tire out when the levels get tougher, I would imagine. I wonder if there is a way for creating this game for solo play so two people don’t have to play every time.

The game was developed for Global Game Jam 2011, and I can imagine that it will be a hit for anyone with two microphones or headsets.

Fujitsu announces Stylistic Q550 slate computer

Forget about regional launches – Fujitsu has just announced its Stylistic Q550 slate PC around the world, where it offers executive class performance with high-security in mind to cater for the requirements of mobile enterprise computing. These slate PCs will arrive in a couple of months’ time (that is April just in case you happen to lose your bearings on a calendar).

To maintain Fujitsu's long heritage of creating tablet PCs for professional and executive users, the Fujitsu Stylistic Q550 slate PC comes with built-in security from the ground up, letting it comply with the most stringent ICT security requirements of governments and businesses. It will definitely cater for enterprise mobile computing demands, and won’t find any problem integrating itself seamlessly into existing ICT infrastructures.

After all, consumer-class smart phones and tablets tend to be rather lax in security compared to corporations which might result in security breaches, Fujitsu has decided to take an alternative approach with the introduction of a companion device specially designed for maximum interoperability with business environments. Do you happen to do a whole lot of traveling via car or 4WD? Well, if your ride is used to transport a whole lot of stuff, then you might be interested in picking up the Inflatable Roof Rack. This roof rack for your set of wheels is able to inflate within minutes, making it a snap to provide easy transportation of oversized loads. Of course, this looks a whole lot better than the unsightly permanent racks which require tools and time to install and remove, but we suppose there is always a risk of it being punctured – all in the name of convenience.

Each of these two heavy-duty rack supports come with inflatable PVC bladders, boasting double straps at all four ends to make sure it remains stable even when tucked into the top of the front and back windows. Ever experienced moments where you felt as though a pair of eyes were checking you out, only to turn around and not see anything? Well, perhaps someone somewhere has placed the Blinking Eyes right behind your back.

The name of this unique £24.99 purchase is pretty much self-explanatory, as they will blink for an added effect.
