Magical Floating Lamp – for some Light Fun Posted: 15 Jun 2012 12:00 PM PDT I love the idea of having everyday things with a twist. I mean, how many objects that we need or use everyday are actually any fun? How many of these objects do we even notice anymore? I have dozens of lamps around my home and I’d be hard pressed to successfully describe any one of them in great detail… well, maybe the one my mom gave me for a birthday, the rest are lovely, but who pays attention anymore? You wouldn’t be able to forget this one, the Floating Lamp from designer Angela Jansen, and developed by Ger Jansen, a mechanical and electrical engineer, these spectacular Floating Lamps create a highly unusual visual effect, and should be guaranteed to generate more conversation than any other lamp in your house. So its a useful lamp, that looks like an optical illusion, with a traditional look and feel, and a decidedly high tech spin. The folks that make these lamps point out that even after you know how it works, it is still fascinating to behold, and I can see that being quite true. The lamps employ the very latest LED and electromagnetic technology, and are extremely low in power consumption, so eco friendly as well. Both the Silhouette and Eclipse floating lamp models are perfectly practical lamps that can even be dimmed for more romatic moments. To read more about the technology, or to see videos, please visit floating-lamps.com or just go ahead and get one, for around 1300 bucks. Let’s Pizza Vending machine – Fresh? Pizza Pronto Posted: 15 Jun 2012 11:36 AM PDT We’ve covered the Pizza Vending machine here at Coolest-Gadgets before, and I thinks its safe to say that we agreed, if the pizza was any good at all, it could be a hit. Well, I guess people liked the concept, (and the pizza too) as the Let’s Pizza vending machines are about to take on the USA! Expecting an obviously frozen pie, I was shocked to learn that Let’s Pizza acually vends an authentic Italian pie from SCRATCH in all of about two and a half minutes, complete with the necessary pizza cutter and napkins. The Machines, created by Italian Claudio Torghel, were first made in Europe around 3 three years ago and they have been working their way West, ever since. For under 6 bucks, the vending machine spits out (probably could have come up with better terminology there) a 10.5 inch steaming hot pizza pie with a choice of plain, pepperoni, ham or bacon, with or without tomato. The dough is actually made fresh from flour and water, and each pizza is assembled per order. Special infrared ovens allow for quick, crisp pizza faster than you can say Mama Mia! These futuristic vending machines can actually hold enough ingredients to make around 200 pies and they are even Internet connected, in order to let operators control their inventory and although each pizza will set you back almost 700 calories, I can say I’m already getting some change together. For more info, or to actually see the machines making some mouth watering pizza, please visit smart4retail.com. Hey, does anybody make an automated wine dispenser to go with this? Has anyone already tried vending machine pizza? Buon Appetito! [ Let’s Pizza Vending machine – Fresh? Pizza Pronto copyright by Coolest Gadgets ] |
Mimoco goes batty with new USB flash drive range Posted: 15 Jun 2012 06:30 AM PDT Mimoco is back with four new USB flash drives that cater for DC Comics fans – as you can take your pick from Batman, Superman, Bane and The Flash, as part of the Batman "The Dark Knight Rises Edition". These will start from $19.99 upwards, and will max out at 64GB of storage space within. Needless to say, all of these brand-new designs will be accompanied by bonus media alongside Mimory and mimoDesk suites of screensavers, avatars, and wallpapers. You know something that is funny? I just cannot help but fall in love with The Flash flash drive – no, that is not a typo or a repeat of a word on purpose, but rather, it just describes the flash drive aptly while being all punny. This is the ultimate self-referential flash drive of all time, but do not expect it to send and retrieve data at the speed of light though, as it is still limited by the USB port’s speed that it is plugged into. Posted: 15 Jun 2012 06:00 AM PDT I know that Batman has plenty of toys for him to play around with, just as he has women. Good thing his toys will not feel a tinge of regret as Bruce Wayne meets up with Tony Stark over a round of drinks in order to discuss their “conquests” over the past few weeks, and we have seen Batman’s fair share of big boys’ toys over the years. I suppose an amphibious car is not too much to ask, and surely this $99.95 RC Amphibious Car could prove to be a decent first prototype or seed of an idea for him to work on? Basically, the RC Amphibious Car is a remote controlled car which is not only capable of driving over land, but it is also very able to traverse over water with equal facility. Fifteen pronounced treads specially arranged in a herringbone pattern on each of its 2″-wide tires will be able to give the RC Amphibious Car enough traction when it is on land, while it has a large enough surface area which paves the way for buoyancy on the water, allowing the treads to function like a series of paddles which in turn are able to propel the car forward, backward, left and right. Acase shows off InaTrap insect killer Posted: 15 Jun 2012 05:30 AM PDT There are many ways to skin a cat if you have the know-how, but how many ways are there for one to kill insects? Mosquitoes are always a huge nuisance for many of us, especially those of us who live in the tropics. Not only do these have a vicious bite, their bites leave you with the risk of catching some disease as well as an itching sensation which prove hard to soothe if you do not have the right ointment. While there is a fair amount of traditional methods to prevent mosquitoes from coming near you, technology, too, has a role to play in this situation. Take Acase for example – their InaTrap insect killer is said to be one elegant solution in doing away with these pesky mosquitoes as well as other irritating insects around you in an eco-friendly way – and yet without requiring you to plant Venus flytraps strategically all over the place. Not only that, there is also no use of harsh chemicals, propane tanks or unsightly equipment to get rid of these pesky insects, but rather, the Inatrap is said to be able to easily prevent mosquitos from spreading diseases or creating itches and scratches on your skin. The functional design of the InaTrap will lure mosquitoes in using a soft LED light as well as a photo-catalyst reaction which is said to produce low levels of CO2 in a warm atmosphere, hence fooling the mosquitoes into thinking that there is a human among them. When flying too close close to the Intrap's vicinity, the mosquitoes and insects will end up trapped in a retainer cage thanks to a little help by the whisper-quiet and yet powerful fan. Tom Hsieh, Sales and Marketing Manager of Acase, says, "Inatrap allows us to enjoy a weekend picnic, camping trips or even an evening in the living room without the need to worry about insects. You can eliminate mosquitos and other insects in a lot of ways, but only InaTrap will do it effectively, safely and in style." Specially designed to resemble an avant-garde porcelain sculpture, Inatrap does not weigh anything more than three pounds, and is ideal for a portable outdoor trip, or to remain indoors when dusk falls. Not only that, there is also an 8 hour built-in timer and an instant touch operation button that makes it a no-brainer to operate. Expect the Inatrap to retail for $64.95 each. Logitech G600 MMO Gaming Mouse will keep Diablo 3 gamers happy Posted: 15 Jun 2012 05:00 AM PDT When it comes to gaming peripherals, we gamers can be a very picky lot. After all, not everything that is made or rolls off the production line will cater for every single person here on earth – there will always be a select few who love nothing better than to nitpick on select features, or rather, the lack of it. If you are an avid MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online) gamer, then you will most probably have given Diablo a good whopping in his (or should we say, her) latest iteration many times over, and have currently settled on a character development path of choice after giving the many classes a go. Surely your current standard issue mouse would also be on its last legs now, with all the furious clicking that has been going on the past few weeks. Isn’t it time to introduce an upgrade to your gaming peripheral arsenal? This is where the latest Logitech G600 MMO Gaming Mouse comes in, and we shall take a look at what makes it tick right after the jump. For starters, the Logitech G600 MMO Gaming Mouse is touted to be a highly customizable device, where it is also easy-to-use despite looking as though you need some rocket science degree to figure things out. I cannot blame you for that though, especially when you consider the number of buttons that the Logitech G600 has on it – 20 in total. Out of the 20, a dozen of these will be thumb buttons, which are set in two groups of six each on a meticulously designed thumb panel in order to make it easily reachable in a jiffy, delivering no-look navigation and faster game play. Of course, I do believe that the learning curve is going to be steep for some, but hopefully one’s latent gamer instincts will kick in easily, and everything will be smooth sailing in no time. It can be used straight right out of the box, without the need for any drivers, and has a G-Shift function which makes it a snap to double the number of actions you can perform with any button. The Logitech G600 MMO Gaming Mouse is tipped to arrive in the US as well as across the pond sometime next month for $79.99 a pop.www.logitech.com or our blog.
