Dentist’s Teeth Whitener

Posted: 02 Nov 2010 04:50 PM PDT

Going to the dentist is something many people dread, simply because there is just so much uncertainty on whether you’re going to receive a load of pain or not. Extremely large needles are also another thing to be very scared of, especially when you are at the mercy of the dentist, sitting haplessly on his chair with your mouth agape. Why not fork out $49.95 on a device that might just keep the dentist smiling and inflict minimal pain on you instead, with the Dentist’s Teeth Whitener? Boasting a similar teeth-whitening technology preferred by dentists to whiten teeth by up to four shades in a week, all you need to do is apply the medical-grade whitening gel and hold the plasma light to your teeth for a couple of minutes to accelerate the whitening process by up to 200% over typical bleaching toothpaste. Each purchase comes with a couple of mouthpieces, 1/3 oz. of whitening gel, and a whiteness shade guide that monitors your progress. The device itself is powered by three AA batteries, although we aren’t too sure how long they will last.

Flip Ultra 3 for smooth shots of movies

Posted: 02 Nov 2010 04:45 PM PDT

If you think that you’ve got a pretty good shot at being a budding film maker, then the Flip Ultra 3 might be just the device for you. Available in either black or white colors, this camcorder which is going for £159.99 is touted to be the simplest and easiest to use. I can vouch for that, owning the original Flip, and while the resolution of that model is nothing to shout about, it certainly is a snap to use. This is a third generation bad boy, boasting High Definition resolution that should be able to preserve your memories in clarity and detail for a long, long time to come.

With 8GB of internal memory, it can store up to two hours of 60fps 720p HD videos in MPG4 format. Zoom is available as well, but that maxes out at a rather pitiful 2x. Powered by a trio of AAA batteries, I’d suggest you stick to rechargeables if you’re going to use the Flip Ultra 3 for a long, long time to come. Just as well, there is a built-in USB connector that makes it a snap to transfer videos over to a computer whenever it is full – perfect for travelers since you need not tote around another pesky USB cable.

8pen Android App helps you text really fast, with just one hand

Posted: 02 Nov 2010 04:19 PM PDT

Some of you might remember when we reported on Swype, a very fast way to do one-handed texting. Swype works by putting out the QWERTY symbols on the touchscreen, and then connecting the dots to spell out what you mean.

This 8pen takes the keyboard and completely reinvents it. It essentially uses one dot, and then responds to the user’s finger movements. Basically, you start dragging your finger off the dot in a certain direction, like you are setting an analog clock. Your finger always arrives at that same spot, but what letter you entered depends on what path you take.

There is a video of it after the jump if you want to see it in action. You can clearly see that you would have to utterly learn how to type again in order to text with this guy, but 8pen says that it would be “easy to learn”.

If it really is easy to learn, and it could improve texting speeds, then you might be looking at the next big thing in texting here.

8pen should be available soon as an Android app for version 2.2 (Froyo)or later. Does anyone know any other texting Apps that could help improve texting speeds?

Urbee, the 3D printed car

Posted: 02 Nov 2010 03:51 PM PDT

This is Urbee, not to be confused with Herbie, a sentient Volkswagen from Walt Disney.

Urbee could easily be as unique as the Love Bug, as it is the only car ever to have its frame, including the glass, made from a 3D printer. I don’t know about the engine or the other inner workings.

The two-seat car was made by 3D printing Stratasys and engineering company Kor Ecoogic. Urbee is most certainly not ready for mass-production as yet, but it certainly looks like it was made for the future. You know, that really cool future that we see in movies.

As for the fuel, Urbee runs on gasoline and ethanol, but gets a pretty good miles per gallon rating at 200. There are plans to make sure that it runs on Earth-safe power like electricity or biofuels.

I’m guessing that Urbee is some sort of beginning of an era when cars are made with 3D printers. I can’t help but wonder if they will all look like this. If it was 3D printers, can’t you make any kind of frame that you want? Perhaps you can make some sort of car with interchangeable frames, so you can have a Cadillac one day and a Porsche the next.

Shoot this light out with the Bang!lamp

Posted: 02 Nov 2010 03:19 PM PDT

When it comes turning an appliance off from a distance, you could use some Universal remote, or even the Clapper. Or you could use this Bang! lamp.

The lamp can be turned off with a special gun-shaped remote. All you need to do is point it at the lamp and pull the trigger. Not only does this “kill the light”, but the lamp shade will do a tilt thing, like it was hit with a bullet.

Of course, you might not want to leave this lying around when someone who is pro-gun control comes around. Of course, it is a plain white gun, and I don’t know how many real plain white pistols are out there.

I’m also not certain if the gun makes a sound when you shoot the lamp. Do you really want to hear a real loud “bang” every time you turn the lamp off? Talk about putting one’s lights out.

Right now, the Bang! lamp is just a concept for now. However, it could easily evolve into other devices that you want to shoot to shut off. For example, a Bang! alarm clock that you have to bust a cap in when you wake up in the morning. What about the bang! HDTV that you can shoot every time you see something you don’t like, just like Elvis (supposedly). I would be shooting the TV every minute if I had one of those.

Sony Internet TV – Now I never have to get off the couch

Posted: 02 Nov 2010 08:39 AM PDT

There goes my promise to start exercising, just when I was feeling motivated, Sony introduces Internet TV with a Blu-ray disc player powered by Google TV.

Now I can search for whatever I want, anywhere on the Internet or TV and I can actually cruise the net, while I am watching television. Its not that I don't do that already, its just that having everything on one integrated screen is just so darn exciting. I imagine myself updating my Facebook page while watching the news, or helping my daughter with her homework and watching football at the same time, mostly I see myself watching Formula 1 and running the live timing screen on the same display with Dual View.

This cool little box also has built in WIFI and can access your online movies, photos and music, this just gets better and better. The Sony Internet TV really is an all in one entertainment source. It probably couldn't be any more compelling if you could say… download Android Apps or link it with your mobile phone and use it as an additional remote, or share content between the phone and TV, but you can.

The Internet TV Blu-Ray player connects to your existing HDTV, comes with a handheld QWERTY keyboard with an optical mouse and at $399.00, the only reason not to own one is all the stuff you’re not going to get done.

Available now with an optional extended service plan from Sony Style.
