Belkin Wireless Dual-Band Travel Router Posted: 06 Dec 2011 07:30 AM PST Just so you know, this Travel Router is very compact. It isn’t as tiny as you see in this picture, but it is a small 3 x 4 inches. It is made for travelers who want to take a hotspot with them as they travel, so they “do not have to rely on wired Ethernet connections or slow bandwidth”. I got a chance to hook it up to my router, and after I plugged it in, all the wireless devices recognized it. I used the device’s personal ID number, and I was synced and ready to go in seconds. This device will come in handy for when you are traveling with friends, and you can pay for one hotel Internet connection to get all the devices online at the same time. I wonder if I can connect a hotel’s Ethernet cable to this thing, and get away with not paying for the Internet entirely. That would be quite good, and I will definitely try that out when I go to Las Vegas for CES next month. If you want to see if you can get some access to free Internet at whatever hotels you stay at, then I suggest you head over to the Belkin website and pay $79.95 for the Wireless Dual-Band Travel Router. Megaphone horn speaker for the iPhone Posted: 06 Dec 2011 07:15 AM PST Some of you might remember when we went hands-on with the iHorn, a stand/speaker that essentially uses no electricity, but relies on natural acoustics for louder sound. Think of it like the big horn on those old gramophones. We all know that the iPhone speaker is pretty diminutive, so we could use a little amplifier that works like one of those giant Bavarian horns on the mountaintops. Yes, this is definitely an energy-saver, and here is another illustration: one of those gigantic cones that cheerleaders yell into. I don’t have any stats on how high the volume goes to, but in comparison to the iPhone speaker, think of it as turning it up to…I don’t know, fifteen? We all need to use items that use less power, and the more we can conserve, the better. If you have a room that needs a stereo, and you have an iPhone, you might as well find a solution that uses as little power as possible. Okay, now here is the bad news, it costs about $540. Did you really think that something this large and requires a major rearranging of furniture would cost the price of an iPod dock? I don’t know the answer to that one either. Oh, why does Samsung tease us with this transparent flexible tablet video? Posted: 06 Dec 2011 07:00 AM PST Yes, Samsung puts out a lot of interesting electronic products, and I believe that the company has been developing a flexible OLED display. Rumor has it that the company will unveil this in 2012, but I’m guessing this won’t be at CES. What I see in this video after the jump is something that is pretty amazing, and I want to see it working as soon as possible. For gosh sakes, just stop reading right now and just watch it! Yes, this man is holding what appears to be a transparency from an overhead projector. How in the world do the graphics appear on this device? Please tell me that this technology actually exists, but I am guessing the effect is accomplished with CG, especially the way those images seem to float off the page. What is that, holograms? I will have to say that I like the way one can talk to someone who speaks a different language. Man, that could really change communication as we know it. You will notice that everyone in this video seems pretty darn impressed at this guy’s device. Is this what the first guy who had an iPad had to deal with? I sort of wonder why they went that direction, I would have gone with one of Microsoft’s concept videos where everyone is accustomed to this new technology. Well, Samsung, you had better make this concept video a reality, as I want this transparent tablet. Coolest Gadgets UK – For all your UK centric tech and gadget news. eLocity A7+ tablet is now on sale Posted: 06 Dec 2011 06:00 AM PST A tablet here, a tablet there, Old McDonald had a tablet…I suppose there is a new kind of primary school song that we can teach our kids to sing even right now, considering how the tablet craze does not seem to stop with a spanking new tablet seemingly appearing once in a couple of days from the myriad of manufacturers out there. One of the latest models to arrive on store shelves, virtual or otherwise, would be the eLocity A7+ tablet that will sport the Tegra 2 system on a chip, not to mention a 7″ touchscreen display at 1024 x 600 resolution which should be crisp enough for your everyday use. The asking price for this puppy? We’re looking at just $229.99 a pop, where you can pick it up from J&R, NewEgg.com, ShopNBC as well as other prominent US retailers. ShopNBC is said to start airing customized eLocity A7+ value bundle sales from December 8th onwards, all the way to the 19th, 2011. What makes the eLocity A7+ so special to receive this kind of seemingly royal treatment? For starters, this is a limited edition release for the upcoming holiday season, and will be available only while stocks last. Orders placed will be shipped to consumers almost immediately, so as the saying goes, the early bird gets the worm – you might want to be an early bird in this case to get yours before Christmas day. The eLocity A7+ will see the recently launched Amazon Fire and B&N Nook tablets as its main rivals, which is why eLocity decided to pack it with a more powerful CPU, the Tegra 2 processor, full Flash support (never mind the fact that mobile Flash has been killed by Adobe), a full local browser that keeps your data private, a GetJar App Store that offers access to thousands of apps and expandable memory of up to 100GB – all without costing more than the hot selling Amazon Fire, now how about that? As for the 7″ multitouch screen, it has four points of contact, and other hardware specifications include HDMI and USB 2.0 connectivity, a microSD memory card slot, running on the Flash-enabled Android OS to boot. According to Mathu Rajan, CEO of Stream TV Networks, “We’re glad to follow up the A7 with a model that raises the bar. We’ve exceeded the industry standards for resolution and we look forward to continuing to push the envelope in 2012 with our upcoming product line.” Any takers for the eLocity A7+ Conference Calendar – The global conference and expo finder. Big Blue Audio offers Big Blue and Big Blue Live Wireless Speakers Posted: 06 Dec 2011 05:30 AM PST Now, don’t get mixed up with the naming convention here – Big Blue Audio here has nothing to do with IBM, as the latter’s nickname clearly does not deal with any kind of audio products for your living room or organization. No sir, Big Blue Audio is an audio company instead (no kidding, Sherlock, just look at the name itself), where it has just put up on offer a couple of its audio devices to tempt you to part with your hard earned money – the Big Blue as well as Big Blue Live Wireless Speakers. Both kinds of speakers will come with their signature Power. Pair. Play. interface, and will sport a stylish design that is certainly not lagging behind the times. Relying on the magic and wonders of Bluetooth connectivity, both pair of speakers have the ability to virtually fill any room with crystal-clear sound sans wires from any Bluetooth-enabled device, be it your iOS or Android powered smartphone, MP3 player, portable media player, tablet device or notebook. Ron Boire, Brookstone CEO says, “Listening to music and movies via Bluetooth is an emerging trend. Big Blue Audio was created specifically to bring innovation and quality to this new category. Most people think of Bluetooth technology for talking safely while driving, but the future is streaming music to a wireless bluetooth speaker – be it from Internet radio or your own library.” How true that is, and since the world is clearly on the path to living up the wireless lifestyle, don’t you think that it makes perfect sense to have a wireless speaker thrown into the mix as well? The Big Blue Tabletop Speaker will come with 2 full-range speaker drivers (for stereo highs and mids), a down-firing subwoofer, a passive radiator for bass, and an Aux in/Aux out. The signature Power. Pair. Play. interface as well as backlit sphere will show off power and pairing modes, and you can choose from either black or white shades at $149.99 a pop. As for the Big Blue Live, this particular model measures a mere 5″ x 2.5″ x 2.33″, making it the ideal traveling companion or for those who are constantly on the move. It will also, just like the Big Blue Tabletop Speaker, sport the simply Power. Pair. Play interface, and offers full-range wireless sound with dual stereo speakers as well as a passive radiator for thumping bass. With up to half a dozen hours of playback time on a full charge, not to mention doing away with the need for docks and cords, you can pick up this puppy for $99.99 each in either black or white shades. 3M CP45 Pocket Camcorder Projector Posted: 06 Dec 2011 05:00 AM PST Mobile projectors, I will admit, did not really take off as fast or as far as I thought it would have when it was first introduced to the world. It seemed that the poor battery life as well as relatively low resolution count proved to be its Achilles Heel, but that has not stopped manufacturers from giving it a go again and again. 3M is one of the pioneers in the field of mobile projectors, and this time around, they have decided to keep us entertained with the £299.99 3M CP45 Pocket Camcorder Projector. What makes this particular gizmo so special is the fact that this is not only a mobile projector, but a camcorder as well, so you can always record whatever you want on the go, and then play it back for your family and friends to see without the need to hook it up to a different device. Hmmm, sounds suspiciously familiar like one of those Nikon shooters. Hardware specifications include the ability to record in HD video, shoot 5-megapixel stills with 4x digital zoom, carry a 2.4″ LCD display, have 2GB of internal memory, and can project anywhere from 6″ to 65″ images. Battery life in projection mode is estimated to be up to 100 minutes, and it can record video for up to 150 minutes on a full charge. Sounds like fun, you might want to place a pre-order for it today. Conference Calendar – The global conference and expo finder.
