iPhone Fan – Call in some Comfort

Posted: 19 Jul 2012 08:56 AM PDT

Global warming? No kidding. This summer has been brutal. With temperatures in the hundreds for the last few days I am willing to try anything to stay cool. Luckily we have air conditioning in the house, but I can’t stay home just because its hot. We have places to go and people to see, whether I want to or not! Maybe it wouldn’t feel so darn miserable if there were a bit of a breeze…

Check out the iPhone Dock Fan from Talme, it simply plugs into the charging port of your iPhone and uses your power supply to keep the breeze blowing. Able to run for up to six hours on a full charge, the iPhone Dock Fan may be just what you need to get through your kids next 4 sessions of sports camp. The fan blades can be adjusted to work in two different directions, depending on how you ‘d like to hold the phone and the blades are made from a soft urethane material that won’t cut your nose off, or any other body parts you’re particularly fond of… very handy.

Although it doesn’t appear that you can actually use the phone to make a call and enjoy the cool breeze while you do so, its still a cute novelty item that could be a plus during whats left of this steamy summer. Designed to work with  the iPhone 3G, 3GS, and 4. It also works well with the Apple iPod Touch 1st through 4th generations and for only 9 bucks at amazon.com, it a fun little accessory to have, just don’t get your hair stuck in it!

Lavazza makes Coffee for your Fiat

Posted: 19 Jul 2012 07:31 AM PDT

I know I am not alone when I tell you that I can’t even begin to engage my brain in the morning without a cup of coffee. Okay, truth be told, it’s two cups of coffee and without it, everyone knows to not even talk to me. I often wonder how caffeine-free people make it through their day, or how they get anything done. One of these days I’m going to have to quit drinking coffee, but it’s not going to be today!

Especially since Lavazza (famous coffee maker) is making the first ever car coffee maker, to be offered as an option on the brand new Fiat 500L. Imagine, cruising down the road, with the aroma of freshly brewed espresso wafting through your luxurious new Fiat. With your brew bubbling right between your front seats, and plugged into its very own power source, you will have everything you need to keep you going.

Called the “coffee experience kit” it comes with two auto friendly cups, an espresso making base with a spoon and sugar holder (no word about milk or cream) Simply snap the new Lavazza into your Fiat’s secure center docking station and let Lavazza work its magic as your coffee pod is steeped in perfectly heated water, making an awesome cup of fresh espresso. Who needs Starbucks’s?

Well, I guess I do. While it seems like the new Fiat will soon be available in the U.S., it doesn’t look like the Lavazza coffee maker will be an available option for us. It appears that our sue-happy society (think McDonalds coffee on lap disaster) has got corporate attorneys too nervous to let us actually have an on-board coffee maker, but I’m not going to count out finding a retrofit kit on e-bay and hey, espresso is small darn it, I can drink it at a red light, as soon as I’m finished making my calls, putting on my make-up and finding a good radio station. For those that can, the kit is expected to be around 300 bucks and the new Fiat to go with it, $22,500.

8-Bit Tablet Sleeve

Posted: 19 Jul 2012 06:30 AM PDT

Tablets are dime a dozen, but if you were to take the most popular tablet at this point in time into consideration, then the Apple iPad would definitely win hands down. After all, there is no question as to the popularity of Cupertino's new iPad, but how about turning back the clock and going retro with this particular tablet sleeve? We are talking about a polar opposite in terms of the "resolution", as the $29.99 8-Bit Tablet Sleeve will definitely oppose all the visuals that the new iPad's Retina Display stands for.

What is more important, however, is not what and how it looks from the outside, but rather, for the 8-Bit Tablet Sleeve to do its job by protecting your high tech iPad using its low tech look. It boasts of fake leather on the outside, while it remains extremely soft on the inside so that your iPad's display and back will not end up with unwanted scratches at all. While it was built specially for the iPad, you know that the law of physics dictate that it can also be used to house and protect tablets of smaller sizes, yes, even those of the Android-powered strain.

IRIScan Book 2 makes document and book scanning a cinch

Posted: 19 Jul 2012 05:30 AM PDT

Now here is a scanner that you might want to consider getting if you do happen to be a scanning freak. After all, scanning a particular page in a magazine or book for its information is far more useful compared to taking a photograph with your smartphone's camera, never mind the fact that smartphone cameras have come a long, long way since a few years ago.

With the IRIScan Book 2, you are able to scan books, documents, magazines and photos regardless of the time or where you are – and this is all achieved without the need for a computer in the vicinity. Let us take a closer look at how the IRIScan Book 2 works in everyday life right after the jump, shall we not?

The IRIScan Book 2 will also come with the relevant apps to support its scanning ability, and I must say that on paper, the Readiris 14 software does seem to be very impressive. After all, it is capable of transforming scans and PDFs into editable and searchable digital text which can later be uploaded over to the Cloud at your convenience.

According to Jean-Marc Fontaine; Director of Sales and Operations, Americas at I.R.I.S., "Readiris 14 boosts productivity and saves time, setting the standard for portable scanning on the market today in terms of speed and accuracy. Whether you are a student, businessman or road warrior, Readiris is a powerful tool when paired with any scanner, especially one of our portable scanners like the IRIScan Book 2."

The IRIScan Book 2 is highly portable, since it is battery-powered, there is no need for any pesky power cables for you to carry around. All scanned pages will be sent straight to a microSD memory card, where the IRIScan Book 2 will get the job done in black/white or color with 600 and 300 dpi scanning resolutions. Even better is this – you do not need to deal with any pesky driver installations at all, where all you need to do is connect the scanner with the included USB cable or insert the microSD memory card into the computer, and you are good to go.

The IRIScan Book 2 will come in 2 flavors – the 2 AA battery-powered version which lasts for up to 200 page scans retails for $99, while the more expensive IRIScan Book 2 Executive at $129 has a built in rechargeable battery, and it can send scans via Bluetooth to a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop.

Samsung 75-Inch flagship TV boasts of gesture controlled Angry Birds Smart TV app amongst others

Posted: 19 Jul 2012 05:00 AM PDT

You know something? We humans have very basic needs, but the list of wants – now that becomes a little bit tricky. After all, the world has so much to offer, and basically anyone with enough money or power (usually both) are able to live out an extremely hedonistic lifestyle. Assuming you have been dreaming of a TV upgrade in your living room for the longest time already, and told yourself that you want to blow your budget this time around without being bothered by the financial consequences, what are some of the options at your disposal?

I would certainly tout Samsung's latest flagship TV – we are talking about 75 inches of diagonal viewing goodness here, where the ES9000 LED Smart 3D TV is said to offer a larger-than-life, extra-premium experience alongside a timeless new design concept which will boast of a beautiful rose-gold-colored finish. All of this crammed into a form factor that is extremely slim at 0.31 inches for its curved bezel without any visible seams, and I can safely say that you've got a winner here.

Not only that, the Samsung ES9000 LED Smart 3D TV will also come with it, another first in the industry. We are looking at a totally new Angry Birds App for Samsung's Smart Interaction-enabled TVs. This means you can now fling those emo avian friends using nothing but gesture controls sans the need for a controller. It might take some getting used to at first though, since most of us are so used to flinging those birds across the sky (and space) using a touchscreen display. Angry Birds is said to come as a free download later this month on the Samsung 2012 LED 7500 and up models and Plasma 8000 models. If you have more patience, a dedicated app for Angry Birds animated content will be available later in 2012 as well.

Expect the Samsung ES9000 LED Smart 3D TV to hit the general market later this August for a cool, cool price of $9,999.
