I decided to take a break on reporting on gaming gadgets, and focus on some other form of consumer electronics at the E3 gaming Expo. I always like seeing the latest in pico projectors, and I would have to say that the SHOWWX+ laser pico projector is one of the smallest that I have seen.

At a height of .55 inches and width of 2.36 inches, it is able to create an impressive image up to 100 inches in size, with WVGA resolution (848 x 480). According to the manual and what I saw at E3, it should “project on any surface, curved, moving or still, without having to focus or refocus”.

The battery is good for about 2 hours worth of use, and it is great for sharing videos, photos, and presentations in a 16:9 aspect ratio with a brightness of 15 lumens.

The SHOWWX+ is designed to work with all kinds of mobile devices, like the iPhone, iPod, or iPad. A VGA dock is sold separately, which should be good for laptops, netbooks, and the Macbook. It also has a composite adapter for other TV-out devices.

The Aiken Labs Immersive Motion Accessory System

While I was checking out the Flex-Fire in that back area of E3, I found some more completely new technology for video games. This time it was from Aiken Labs, a family-owned and operated company that, as far as I know, does not have Clay Aiken as a part of it.

What got my attention is what you will see in the video (located after the jump). You can watch as the man wearing the headband moves his head around, and the screen moves in direct response, as if he was in the virtual world itself. It is a radio based motion capture that is non-optical, and not based on cameras.

I realize that most people want to use this tech for video games. You can see in the image how Aiken labs has a Legend of Zelda axe, helmet, and shield with their square-shaped sensors. Yet this is not just designed to be used on video games either. The creators see a future where it could be used to emulate a mouse or keyboard. They even want to use it for motion capture, medical, and military applications.

Flex-Fire brings you more move to your PS3 Move

Usually when I go to E3, I tend to ignore the big booths from the big video game companies. Unless they have some video game technology that is really different, I just don’t see a need to report on the newest FPS, MMO, or whatever on this particular blog.

This is why I usually head to the back section, where the booths take up less space than a parking lot. Here, you can find all kinds of cool things, plus people who are very friendly. Yes, this is the technology that usually isn’t out yet, but looking for a market.

Such was the case with the Flex-Fire. Flex-Fire is designed to work with the PS3 Move, but unlike most rifle gaming mods, the user bend the barrel of their weapon. According to their product description, it allows the user to operate his or her game fluidly and center automatically.

Some of you might think that this is cheating, as a real rifle barrel can’t bend in order to make its shots. However, the Flex-Fire is designed with the gamer in mind, and many of these shooter games demand quick action. Flex-Fire gives PS3 players the “flex”-ability they need to “fire” away. Okay, if you can think of a better pun for me to say here, just leave a comment.

You might wonder if the Flex-Fire could be used for the Wii. In actuality, it was originally designed for the Wii, but changed to the Move later on. Now that there will be a new Wii U, I’m not certain what direction Prodagen will take. For now, you can find out more about the product here.

iF Mode Folding Bicycle

Atom Watch – you don’t have to be a mutant to own one

Have you watched X-Men: First Class already? LG Super LED monitor is extremely slim

LG Electronics of Korea has just officially announced their latest super slim monitor that is simply called the Super LED – it can’t get any simpler when you think about it. As for the accompanying marketing campaign which went with the official launch, it comprised of a “Super” performance that intends to fully publicize the technology of the SUPER LED Monitor, hiring popular Korean pop duo group Norazo to perform.

Norazo are famous for their experimental and often innovative performances, where the live performance was synchronized and broadcasted on the world's largest LED screen just to send the point home, with the recording having picked up more than a million views on YouTube already.

Norazo relied on the large "Media Façade" at Seoul Square in downtown Seoul, which currently houses the largest LED (Light Emitting Diode) canvas in the world on a single building, taking up around 42,000 LED bulbs. Apart from that, it also included a "flash mob" element, where passers by are able to take part in the performance.

Back to the tech involved – the Super LED monitor will feature a quartet of key benefits, where they are SUPER Slim, SUPER Picture Quality, SUPER Angle, and SUPER Energy Saving. The LG SUPER Slim Series will sport a beautifully crafted design as well as ultimate slimness of 7.2mm depth. When you take a look at the E2290V (which is one of the models), it picked up the Innovations Award at CES 2011 for its excellence in design and technology.

LG SUPER Picture Quality technology will make sure SUPER+ Resolution Technology is used to revive low picture quality to high resolution vivid picture quality, giving you a free visual “upgrade” of sorts, so to speak, sharpening blurred edges and adding new zest to dim colors. Genius Traveler 9000 BlueEye-tracking wireless mouse

Genius goes wireless this time around with their latest travel mouse – the Traveler 9000 BlueEye-tracking wireless mouse. Arriving in North America (that would mean the US as well as Canada), it will come in five different colors and was specially designed to work ergonomically regardless of whether you are a southpaw or not. Bear in mind that this is no gaming mouse per se, but it is a suitable working mouse that ought to fit the bill for most people. The more discerning folks who want something more will have to look elsewhere though.

More on the Genius Traveler 9000 – it will sport an extremely responsive 1200 dpi optical engine as well as the aforementioned BlueEye tracking technology which will enable it to function on just about any surface, and when we say that, we mean marble and glass included. Older tracking technology would find it nigh impossible to work on such surfaces, so to see Genius incorporate this well is something of a bonus.

Expect this little device to hook up to both notebooks and desktops via a wireless and anti-interference 2.4GHz RF frequency, courtesy of a very tiny Pico USB receiver. Basically, this pico USB receiver allows you to leave it inside your computer or notebook’s USB port all the time without having to worry about it being chipped or broken off during transportation.

Apart from that, there is also a Stick-N-Go mount that allows you to stick it to a notebook for easy transportation to and fro, regardless of where you are heading to. A storage compartment is thrown into the mix for the Pico receiver, while a Stick-N-Go mount that is beneath the top cover alongside an on/off switch on the bottom will help you conserve battery juice.

A single AAA battery is required to get this up and running, although don’t expect gaming grade quality as we first mentioned for a mere $29.90.
