Cupcake Maker makes mini cupcakes fast Posted: 11 Jan 2010 03:32 PM PST There are times that you really just need a cupcake. However, the problem there is that you have to mix up a whole batch and cook several rounds in the oven. Doing that seems to take an eternity. Well instead of putting yourself through all of that nonsense, now you can make up a batch of cupcakes in mere minutes. Life couldn’t possibly get any better than having a device to give you fresh cupcakes and fast. Of course these are miniature cupcakes, they’re not quite full sized. It gives a total of 7 though, so it should be enough to keep you happy. Then if you need more, you can just make another batch of them. The clean up will take not time at all thanks to some handy non-stick surfaces, so you can make batch after batch without much effort. Thankfully these are a little cheaper than they originally were. You can pick one up for $33 through What On Earth. Tech Cult – We cover the latest tech news, but always with a funny twist. Blue Man Group Percussion Tubes Posted: 11 Jan 2010 02:46 PM PST No matter how detached you are from the world it’d be difficult to avoid hearing about the Blue Man Group. If you’re a serious fan, then this little device is bound to keep you entertained and remind you of any of the times you happened to get to watch the group. Granted, these percussion tubes do look a little like a Fisher-Price toy, but at least you’ll feel cool. This musical instrument works by you swinging around some sticks and playing these odd little drums. It actually uses a motion sensor to play all of the wonderful sound effects, so you don’t even have to use the sticks if you prefer to use something else. You can use either the internal speakers, an external amplifier or even a set of headphones to keep your musical genius a private matter. You can purchase your very own for $179 from Amazon. Leather Boots with reversible cleats Posted: 11 Jan 2010 01:31 PM PST Thanks to living in a community where a lot of what I need is very nearby, I do a lot of walking instead of driving. Now that it’s wintertime I’ve found myself about falling flat on my rear on an extremely regular basis. However, I don’t like having to change out boots when I want to walk indoors. Which is where these Reversible Cleats Leather Boots would come in extremely handy. Sure, they’re not the most hi-tech solution, but even the simplest of devices can make life far easier. Unfortunately, it appears that these only come in guy sizes, so the ladies are a little out of luck. That is unless they have feet big enough to fit into a men’s size 7-13. The boots work just like you would guess, there are two sets of studs that can be flipped to give you a better grip on the ground you’re walking on. They are lined with wool and have removable felt insoles. You can purchase a pair for $199.95 through Hammacher Schlemmer. Posted: 10 Jan 2010 06:52 PM PST I first encountered Vestalife at CES 2008 with their unique Ladybug iPod dock, and I am surprised that it took me this long to report on another one of their products. While I was at CES 2010, I saw that they had the Ladybug II. Ladybug II, is of course, an upgrade of the Ladybug, and it has the Vestalife look of flippable speaker wings. It also has a digital amp, and a built-in sub woofer. It is designed to work with all styles of iPods and the iPhone 2G, 3G, and 3GS, and charge them as well. As for the power of the Ladybug II, it uses an AC or 4 non-included AA batteries. It also has an auxiliary in-jack to connect non-docking iPod, CD players, and other MP3 players. So it looks like you can play some other tunes on this guy besides just the ones on your iPod/iPhone, which is not bad. Most iPod docks are not as versatile as this. Of course, there are other fun features such as LED volume indicators, audio/video output jack, a USB port for synchronizing with your computer, and a 3.5 mm Aux input. Now, just to let you know, I have been told that Vestalife’s products will be sold at Apple retail stores and apple.com. Conference Calendar – The global conference and expo finder. Posted: 10 Jan 2010 06:26 PM PST To say that the mPower Emergency Illuminator is a flashlight is like saying a Rolex is a watch. Granted, it is a true statement, but this mPower Emergency Illuminator is like the flashlight of the gods. Well, it was designed by the car gods, and, by that, I mean, Porsche. Porsche Design Studio equipped the mPower with two widely available CR 123 3 volt lithium batteries. But what makes this flashlight the tops is it also includes a “groundbreaking reserve lithium battery with a shelf life of at least 20 years”. That’s right, a shelf life of 20 years. I have no idea how long of an actual shine you would have with this, but dang, that’s 20 years! Gilligan and his friends could have used this. By the way, he could have charged some electronic devices like mobile phones, since the device has an accessory USB connection. Maybe that’s how the castaways of Gilligan’s Island listened to that radio all those years. Am I the only one who ever noticed that the batteries of this portable radio never wore out? But enough references to old sixties shows, you should be able to get the mPower Emergency Illuminator in Titanium Satin and Black Chrome for about $289.00 in March 2010. You can read more about the mPower Emergency Illuminator here. I had a chance to handle it at CES Unveiled, and it was sleek. Nyko Wand + and Charge Base Quad IC at CES 2010 Posted: 10 Jan 2010 05:59 PM PST I always like reporting on what Nyko has to offer, so I couldn’t wait to see what they had this year at CES. For the Wii, they have two new products: the Wand + and the Charge Base Quad IC. Of course, the Wand was meant to be a more advanced and user-friendly controller for the Wii, so why not make a sequel? The Wand + has its patented “Full Motion Technology built directly into the controller for full 1:1 movement tracking that is compatible with all games that use the Wii Motion Plus attachment”. The Wand also has Trans-Port technology, that allows “key action buttons to be digitally replicated on other devices and pass sound and vibration signals to attached peripherals”. Nyko was apparently not satisfied with just making a black version of their popular Charge Base IC, which allows charging of two Wiimotes, but have stepped it up a notch with the Charge Base Quad IC. The Charge Base Quad IC uses induction technology to charge up to four controllers, and these controllers do not have to have their silicone sleeves or Wii Motion Plus attachments removed, either. It also has a dual charge indicator light and powered USB port for powering other USB devices. You should be able to get both of these devices in March 2010. The Charge Base Quad IC will be available for $49.99, and the Wand + will be for about $39.99. Coolest Gadgets UK – For all your UK centric tech and gadget news.
