Energysport Charges Gadgets While You Ride Your Bicycle Posted: 21 Sep 2010 04:40 PM PDT When you commute everyday using a car, you can easily charge up your device along the way. However, riding a bike you might run into some snags in that area. You don’t exactly have those handy little areas to plug your small gadgets in with. This concept design is one that triest to change that by forcing your bike to generate a bit of juice as you go. This isn’t the first bicycle generator I’ve come across, but the concept version is far prettier. If you can’t wait for the concept to come into production though, there is always the Instructables tutorial that tells you how to make something a whole lot like this. It would be nice if something like this did actually become an item you could pick up at the store. After all, not all of us are exactly talented when it comes to building a generator. HP TouchSmart310 PC introduced to the masses Posted: 21 Sep 2010 05:30 AM PDT
Let us take a look at the latest version of HP TouchSmart software. It will go about transforming the desktop into a "Magic Canvas" which allows one to freely drag applications, music, photos, videos and web content straight onto the desktop as "Magnets". The inclusion of multilayered wallpapers will add further depth and perspective to the screen, while both new "Carousel" and "Magic Menu" options enable users to easily locate applications and content using not a mouse, but through your finger – now how about that? Of course, we believe parents who get this for their kids would have a strict “no food” policy when using the computer, since it goes without saying a greasy display is not entirely nice to look at. Either way, it would be wise to have some cleaning cloths lying around to get rid of fingerprints each time someone wants to drop by your home. The HP TouchSmart310 desktop PC is tipped to hit the market on the 22nd of this month for $699.99, and the price will naturally rise upwards if you decide to tweak with what it comes with underneath the hood. Casio EXILIM EX-H20G Hybrid GPS Digital Camera Posted: 20 Sep 2010 10:31 PM PDT
Geotagging has certainly been made all the more popular these days thanks to the introduction of photo-sharing Web sites, and consumers do take the effort and time to do more with their images. The Casio Exilim EX-H20G intends to take the geotagging experience to a new level, whereby it will incorporate exciting technologies to make the entire process fun, easy and completely seamless. How does it work indoors, you ask? Well, that is why it was dubbed the “Hybrid GPS system”, merging GPS with autonomic positioning, where it is made possible thanks to an internal motion sensor. This allows the EX-H20G to track a user's last known satellite-acquired position against map data stored in the camera's internal memory, no matter if you are indoors or not. Not only that, the camera itself comes pre-loaded with information regarding 10,000 sightseeing photo spots worldside, and each time you are within range of one of these photo spots, the EX-H20G will automatically alert you, letting you know that you’re standing on the site of a point-of-interest. This might just change the way you snap photos as you will probably want to make full use of the Hybrid GPS system, changing the way you travel and plan your holidays. We wonder whether this consumer level feature will ever make its way to the DSLR market, or would DSLRs remain within the realm of serious folk who do not want something like a GPS system interfere with its final results? Only time will tell, but we know that this 14.1-megapixel shooter will hit the market later this November for $349.95. Check out the Coolest Gadgets 2008 Gift Guides, Christmas shopping made easy. HRP-4 robot strutting the stage Posted: 20 Sep 2010 08:11 PM PDT I have seen a lot of terrific robots in my years of reporting here. They come in all shapes and sizes, and this HRP-4 has to be the most human. There is a video of this thing after the jump if you want to see it in action, and it does a lot of action. In fact, it looks like Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Tecnology (AIST) and Kawada Industries have created a Cylon robot pulled straight out of Caprica. I think he’s prepping to join the Power Rangers. As you can see, the motions of the HRP-4 are quite fluid. I’m going to steal a line from Blade Runner and venture to say that it is “more human than human”. Yes, this is probably the part where we see the robot body doing everything human, and then we humans decide to give it some kind of brain. Well, science-fiction movies have shown us where this is going. After all, my Source says that these robots have been made to replace Japanese workers. Yeah, I’m not looking forward to all those human workers not being able to keep up. Domo Arigoto Mr. Roboto! Of course, these robots move so fluidly that the robot dance is going to have to change its name once these things get mass produced. Posted: 20 Sep 2010 07:34 PM PDT It has been a while since we have reported on our friends from Wild Planet with their Spy Gear line. The last time was with the Wild Planet Spy Video TRAKR. This looks like something that Spy Gear would put out, but it is from Jakks Pacific. This is a spy watch that has an audio recorder that can do three hours of audio. It also has a camera lens capable of 20 minutes of video footage, and it can do still photos as well. Since this is a Spy Watch, it has a feature that James Bond would love. It has a snake-cam that will allow you to see around corners. All of your incriminating spy videos can be watched on the 1.4 inch screen, only. Yeah, it doesn’t look like you record anything to a microSD or anything. Is it just me, or does this look a certain watch that one of the Spy Kids wore in Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams? Granted, I thought that was the worst one of the trilogy, but it did introduce us to a spy watch that was so advanced that “it can do everything but tell time”. This one tells time and more. It costs $49.99 and is available now. Coolest Gadgets UK – For all your UK centric tech and gadget news. [ Spy Watch from Jakks Pacific copyright by Coolest Gadgets ] Related Posts: |
Posted: 20 Sep 2010 07:05 PM PDT This particular gadget illustrates how important it is to conserve water. When you are using this sink to wash your hands, the fish loses its real estate if you take too much time. Yes, the water level in the fish bowl will actually go down if you are scrubbing your hands too long. In case you are wondering, there are safety features so the fish won’t have all of its precious water taken away. Just to let you know, you are not using the same water that a fish inhabiting. It’s just made to appear that way. The truth is the fish water drains underneath the sink, and then will return to normal. This Poor Little Fishbowl sink is still a concept from Chinese designer Yan Lu, and it really isn’t made to replace every sink. In fact, I would best classify it as some sort of art project with a very obvious message. I suppose that if one were to mass-produce these things, they could be put into schools. Just think of all the kids who would think that their water wasting is draining the ocean dry. I remember my first grade teacher warned us about spending too much time at the water fountain. She said we would “drink the ocean”. Just imagine if my teacher had this Poor Little Fishbowl concept. Talk about a terrific visual illustration on water wastage.
