The Hot Tug – Wood-fired Hot Tub Boat

Ah yes, I can’t think of 2 things I love more than hot-tubs, and being out on the open water. Ideally, I guess I would like to be using the hot-tub on the stern of my 115 foot yacht. Slipping off my high heels and sinking into the blissfully steamy water, while one of my outrageously handsome crew members serve me icy cold champagne and strawberries.

Alternatively, I could get a Hot Tug. The first wood-fired hot tub boat in the whole world. Built to accommodate you and up to 7 of your closest friends, the Hot Tug hold around 530 gallons of water and a wood stove located in the bow of the boat can heat that water to 100 degrees F in just about 2.5 hours, using only a small wood log fire.

Cruising the waterways is easy enough, with an available Minnkota electric motor you can power around in heated style for about 2 and a half to 8 hours, depending on your motor selection and, the fact that theres a fire burning on your boat seems to be of no concern, as the stainless steel surrounding the wood fire remains cool to the touch because of the water surrounding it, as of yet I have no idea whether the stove can be used to roast marshmallows.

Currently, the Hot Tug seems to be only available in the Netherlands, where they are also being utilized in rental programs. The owners of the company are willing to entertain international requests and have their contact information located on their website hottug.nl and if your thinking about it, one of these little floating pleasure pits will run you around 16 thousand bucks. Hey, whatever floats your boat.

AT&T has Windows-powered tablets in its pipeline

AT&T has announced that they will be making available a couple of Windows-powered tablets in due time – most probably before the year is over, of course, to jive with the timing of the Windows 8 operating system's release. Well, just what are the two models that has captured the attention of AT&T that they would want to have these tablets being made available on its network? They are the Asus VivoTab RT and the Samsung ATIV Smart PC which were specially designed for the Windows 8 platform, and to make matters even more exclusive, AT&T is the only U.S. carrier to offer these new tablets from Asus and Samsung to their customers.

The Asus VivoTab RT is touted to be the first quad-core Windows RT 4G LTE tablet in the market when it is released, and while it packs quite the serious processing punch, that has not affected its functionality in any way despite being crammed into an ultra-thin and light tablet form factor that boasts of a 10.1" multi-touch Super IPS display with ASUS TruVivid technology, 32GB of internal memory, NVIDIA's next-generation quad-core Tegra 3 TE processor alongside productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 RT Preview Edition.

As for the Samsung ATIV Smart PC, this tablet model targets those who want choices, especially if you are a customer who wants a careful mix of PC capability in the convenience of a tablet form factor. There is a detachable keyboard-docking system available for users to switch between a clamshell notebook PC and a tablet PC in a snap. Other hardware configurations include an 11.6" HD PLS display, the Intel Clover Trail 1.5GHz dual core processor and 64GB of internal memory.

If you are looking for a new tablet for yourself this holiday season, then you might want to consider one or the other. After all, what better way to keep yourself occupied this holiday than with a spanking new tablet and a mobile operating system platform to be reckoned with? The thing is, we are still kept in the dark regarding pricing and availability details, so stay tuned as the situation develops in due time.

Samsung announces Galaxy Camera debut on AT&T

We do know that Samsung is a consumer electronics giant that has their finger dipped in just about every conceivable industry, but they are most famous for their range of TVs, home appliances as well as smartphones and tablets. As for the digital camera segment, well, it is suffice to say that Samsung is not at the top of most peoples' lists when one talks about a digital camera, never mind the fact that the South Korean conglomerate has done pretty all right for itself where conventional, consumer class digital cameras are concerned. Well, this time around Samsung has carved out a potentially new niche for themselves in the form of an Android-powered digital camera simply known as the Samsung Galaxy Camera.

AT&T has just announced that the Samsung Galaxy Camera is headed towards the US carrier's way, where it will merge high performance photography alongside the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, not to mention coupling that with AT&T 4G mobile internet connectivity that results in a powerful point and shoot camera that Android users will certainly be down with thanks to the presence of a familiar, intuitive user interface, not to mention being able to access the slew of your favorite Android applications which can be downloaded or purchased from the Google Play market.

I guess you can more or less say that this is the Android-powered version of the iPod touch – it does not have any phone capability, and yet is connected to a software market of sorts, and takes great images, too, at least for the budding photographer. Features of the Samsung Galaxy Camera include a 4.8-inch HD Super Clear LCD display, a 21x optical zoom lens and a super-bright 16-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor that comes in handy when shooting high-quality images in macro and low light conditions. There is a quad-core 1GHz processor underneath the hood doing all of the grunt work, making sure it is responsive enough to your whims and fancies.

No idea on pricing or an exact available date, but just like winter (for folks living in the northern hemisphere, of course), it is coming. For real.

Toys R Us – Takes a Share of the Movie Market

I really enjoy the possibility that digital entertainment services may slowly but surely be reducing our need to rely on cable television. Every time I get my cable bill I cant believe how much I’m paying just to watch TV, and yet every month I write the check. Over the past year we have managed to lower the bill by dropping some premium channels in favor or services like Netflix, but that too carries a price, in the form of a subscription fee. I prefer a “pay for what I watch” option.

Well, Toys R Us is throwing their hat in the ring of digital entertainment options with their recently announced Toys R Us Movies, providing families instant access to over 4000 movies and TV shows that kids love. This new service provides an extensive library of premium digital content for both streaming and download and since the service is equipped with specialized parental controls, we get to choose the most appropriate content for our families viewing.

Starting this week, users will be able to stream content to any PC, Mac, and any Adobe Flash enabled devices and rest assured that the service will be made available to additional web-enabled devices in the coming months. Toys R Us also plans to expand to Blue Ray players and tablets, and to offer HD services in the near future. Watch for the dedicated iOS and android releases later this fall.

Movies will start at $2.99 for a 24-hour rental and $5.99 for a digital download. Family TV options  start at around $0.99, at toyrusmovies.com and keep on the lookout for the new  Toys”R”Us Movie gift cards which will be available later this fall in Toys”R”Us retail stores, just in time for the holidays.

Foldaway Foosball Table

You know something? There is nothing quite like chilling the weekend away with the rest of the guys over a few drinks, while indulging in traditional pub games like pool, darts and some foosball. For those who have a greater love for foosball than the other two mentioned games, how about picking up this $399.95 Foldaway Foosball Table from Hammacher?

It is by no means a gimped piece of furniture, as it is a full-sized foosball table which can be folded away to just 12″ deep while standing on its end when you are done with it for some upright storage goodness. Made out of solid birch that was harvested near Le Jura, France, it will be accompanied by durable plastic trim. The table’s two-leg pairs each unlock and fold inward while a built-in stand enables easy storage in a closet. Capable of accommodating two or four players, the Foldaway Foosball Table will feature eight metal control rods that glide easily in their slots for fluid movement and rapid wrist action. It has a laminated playing surface that has been bounded by beveled sides which rebound either the included plastic or cork ball (for silent play).

Arcade Pinball for iPad

The iPad has definitely changed the way the world looked at tablets, and here we are with the £49.99 Arcade Pinball for iPad which will make full use of your tablet. After all, since all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, picking up the Arcade Pinball for iPad would let you let off some stress after a particularly long hard day at work. Of course, the iPad itself will not be included as you will need to purchase one of these puppies separately, but the Arcade Pinball for iPad works in a way that is so easy, you would figure out it is one of the better investments you have made with 50 quid.

Basically, you slip your iPad into the case and hold the ergonomic handles, where the spring launcher and flipper buttons are strategically positioned in a way that you might be transported back to your younger days at the local arcade down memory lane. There are 5 tables included in the Duo Pinball App, and when you have mastered those, you can always purchase other tables online. It works equally well as a hand-held or as a table-top stand. While it was designed for the iPad, it would also be compatible with the iPhone and iPod touch, as it hooks up wirelessly. Just make sure you have a trio of AA ready at all times!

Available from Firebox.com.
