I think the company is trying to avoid the word Rubik’s Cube due to copyright infringement. It really is the same basic principle, but instead of the 3 x 3 x 3 cube that you must solve, this is a 3 x 3 x 7 Cube. At least it’s not the 17 x 17 x 17 puzzle we reported about before. As you can see by the illustration, it looks like a regular Rubik’s Cube from the 80′s, but two of the “layers” (for lack of a better word) have three layers to them. Gee, I really hope that this makes sense, because I can’t figure out a better way to describe it. Hopefully this image from the Brando website makes it clear. You can make some seriously strange turns with this puzzle cube. I am guessing that if you can turn it certain ways, that you won’t be able to turn in certain other ways. Again, I really hope that I’m being clear in my description. Maybe you should try out this cube for yourself. Just go over to the Brando site and lay down $26.90 USD for it. Any Rubik’s Cubists game? | Microsoft is planning on leaving CES after 2012 Posted: 22 Dec 2011 06:30 AM PST
This change will not occur at CES 2012, but at CES 2013. Microsoft has recently stated that “We won’t have a keynote or booth after this year because our product news milestones generally don’t align with the show’s January timing.” I can’t say that I blame Microsoft. After all, they are a company so big that they can just announce something via the Internet, and it will be the biggest tech news by the end of the day. It reminds me another company that rhymes with “dapple”, who I have never seen on display at CES. I guess that if you are a billion-dollar company, you don’t have to plan your big announcements around the biggest consumer electronics trade show at the beginning of the year. Of course, there could be another reason. I saw the movie 2012, and how these big millionaires were investing in these giant ships to protect them from the great disaster. Yes, that is why Microsoft isn’t planning anything for CES 2013, because there won’t be a 2013. All right, I’ve had my fun. If the big M does plan to go out with a bang at CES 2012 with a huge announcement, I am sure that we’ll cover it. The “before” is the photo of Hajime Sakamoto, and he is working on a genuine 13-foot robot like you see in science-fiction films like Real Steel. Sakamoto is gesturing to what will be the legs of this robot, and you can see the pastel-colored head, arms, and torso in the “after” shot. The Hajime Research Institute is looking for contributors and sponsors to make this robo-giant, and there is even going to be room for a human pilot. I suppose that what he is wanting is some sort of robot that can be operated for heavy lifting, maybe? If the 13 foot tall robot is successful, then he plans to follow it up with a 26 foot robot. Then he wants to do a 59 foot robot, and so on. You can see where this is going: a giant robot that will stomp through Japan. Someone better call the Power Rangers. Okay, that is getting into some science-fiction imagination territory, but I guess Sakamoto really wants to develop a giant robot. Perhaps he really wants to see science fiction come to life. As you can see, the video is pretty vague as far as what is actually coming to CES from the electronics giant, but it would appear that it is “what’s next”. From what it looks like, it could be an Android controlled TV that uses a smartphone or a tablet. On a related note, Sony has recently announced what is coming from their company for CES 2012. They are sending e-vites for the marriage of television and the Internet, and it looks like they are eloping, Vegas style. Perhaps this is an Internet connected TV like no other. So, are Internet and mobile connected televisions going to be the “big thing” of CES 2012, like Android tablets were at CES 2011? Well, I’m going to Vegas in January, so I’ll check it out for myself. I guess with clothings and fashion being able to go through different cycles which repeat themselves after a while, why not technology where aesthetics is concerned? This is not a wireless mouse though, as it will remain tethered to your computer via USB, measuring all of 3.66″ x 2.56″ x 1.30″.
