Panaonic VIERA AR Setup Simulator Posted: 29 Apr 2011 04:10 PM PDT I think you all know that I love anything that deals with Augmented Reality (AR), and this one is an interesting use of augmented reality for setting up a home theater. In all honesty, this is really a niche market, unless there are more potential Panasonic VIERA buyers than I thought. If you want to know what a Panasonic VIERA television looks like in a certain space in your room, then you can get this Panasonic VIERA AR Setup Simulator. As you can see from the video after the jump, there is a way for the user to select what TV set that he or she wants. All that is needed is some sort of AR marker, and they can even see what it looks like at different angles, just by turning the phone. Hopefully, you are like this guy, who just happens to have this spot in the room that is clearly set up for a television set. Also, is it just me, or does this guy look like David Spade? I’m pretty certain that if it was Spade, they probably would have him talk. I would imagine that he would probably say something somewhat crass like on the 7-Up ad. Anyway, if you are looking to see what a Panasonic VIERA would look like in your home, then you are the target audience for this App. You should be able to get it at the iTunes Store for no extra investment. Posted: 29 Apr 2011 12:45 PM PDT Since summer is going to come around for those of you living in the northern hemisphere, it makes perfect sense to prepare for your outdoor activities, and that includes on ramping up on anti-pest sprays and lotions, just in case camping is high on your list this year. Of course, if you are going to spend plenty of time outdoors, carrying a lantern around with you would be an extremely good idea. Why not take the route of what most consumer electronics manufacturers do, and that is through the magic of convergence? This is where the Mosquito Repelling Lantern comes in, working as a standard outdoor lantern that is equipped with d-cis/trans allethrin, a repellent that has been field-tested by the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research and is proven to repel up to 98% of mosquitoes. The lantern will rely on a 2.5″ x 1.5″ mat that has been saturated with the repellent which rests on a metal grill right on top of the lantern, where a butane-fueled heater will vaporize the repellent in order to create a 15′ x 15′ zone that is mosquito-free – other biting insects included. The eight LEDs within the lantern is capable of producing an efficient glow, powered by a quartet of AA batteries. The Mosquito Repelling Lantern is going for a highly affordable $36.95 if you are interested. Check out the Coolest Gadgets 2008 Gift Guides, Christmas shopping made easy. The Wave Jet – High Tech Hang Ten Posted: 28 Apr 2011 06:04 PM PDT Today was National "Take Your Child to Work" day, so here we sit, writing an article together. In actuality it was "Get your Stuff Done in Twice the Time it would Normally Take" day… but heres our spin on this thing anyway… Delsie and I would like to introduce you to the Wave Jet, two battery-powered jets tucked into a surfboard that provides just about 20 pounds of thrust that can propel surfers at speeds of up to 12 mph, which is almost three times the average paddling speed, and so much more relaxing. The Wave Jet recharges easily, in a regular wall socket and it seems pretty safe, light and quiet. It also makes getting out to, and then catching up with the big ones, simply… awesome. Surfers, or do we need to call them riders? turn the jets on and off with a special bracelet remote control dongle switch that will also act as a kill switch if you happen to wipe out. The board's propulsion system is currently built into 11 surfboard models, including paddle and lifeguard boards, and will soon be installed in bodyboards, kayaks and kiteboards as well, my daughter considers it lazy mans surfing but I prefer to look at it as strength and energy conservation, I mean all the fun is in riding the waves isn't it? Getting out past the darn whitewater is like pulling a sled up a snow hill. Hmmmm.. a motorized sled? Anyone making one of those?
