This PC Tower case has a Lego texture

Posted: 28 Feb 2011 05:28 PM PST

I don’t own a PC anymore, but if I did ever get a desktop, then I would just have to get the Coobeeo HELLO-Q PC Tower Case.

As you can see, this Tower Case has a building block front. I would imagine that it is compatible with Lego and Mega Blocks.

The picture here gives some good examples of what to do with it. I mean, you can spell out certain messages. That, or make a place to hold your pens, and is that a Bluetooth headset hanging on a brick?

Of course, I can think of something that I would do with this. I would make a massive Lego project. Maybe I would turn this PC Tower into a Lego apartment building and I would be the view of the Lego characters inside.

I wonder if there is a possibility of making a mod with Lego bricks in laptop form. That way, I could make a Lego scene which would be affixed to the thing when I was using the computer. Hey, how about television sets or Blu-ray players with Lego exteriors? In other words, why is this PC Tower the only device I know with a Lego texture?

I’m not certain where you can purchase this at, but it certainly looks a lot of fun.

See this 5-ton Megatron Tank

Posted: 28 Feb 2011 04:52 PM PST

I’m not certain why I am writing on about this tank. I guess the last post I did about the Mega Hurtz Paintball Robot tank got so many “Likes” that I had to write about this one.

This tank is not functional, and it was built by a Chinese man who realized that the thing that Megatron turns into is sort of stupid. I’m talking about that falcon thing that the Megatron from the Transformers movies transformed into, not the one from the cartoon. Although I would have to say that I don’t understand how big Megatron could fold up into a gun. Maybe that’s why they changed it for the movie.

Anyway, the aforementioned Chinese man decided that Megatron needed a gun, so he made him into a tank. The whole thing weighs about 5 tons.

My Source does not say why someone did this, but I haven’t heard of any plans to put this into the next and hopefully last Transformers movie. I think Michael Bay needs to get this to Hollywood and work it into the story.

That way, if you get around to around to seeing Transformers 3: Dark Side of the Moon this summer, there might be a scene where Megatron gets all mean and pulls out a big gun by becoming this big gun. Then you can say: “Oh hey, that’s the Megatron tank that I read about on Coolest-gadgets.com!”

Computer Engineer Barbie – Does Barbie like Windows?

Posted: 28 Feb 2011 01:24 PM PST

I have to admit that as a kid I was never a Barbie fan, and all that Ken business, I for one was glad when they broke-up. I always wondered why they never made "perfect divorce Barbie" She could have come with the Dream House, the Corvette and most of Ken's stuff, including half his paycheck,   but no, they made baby-sitter Barbie, ballerina Barbie and dog groomer Barbie, dolls I could never really get into, until now…

Please meet the newest addition to the "Barbie I Can Be…" collection, and the first profession ever chosen by popular vote, the Barbie I Can Be a Computer Engineer doll. In my opinion, the coolest of all Barbie Dolls, THIS Barbie comes complete with a cool pink laptop with case, a hot pink smartphone and a headset. Dressed in perfect geek-chic Barbie wears a binary design t-shirt with leggings and pink sneakers and her face is adorned with the almost mandatory, squarish framed glasses.

These dolls and their accessories were meant to empower girls to try out different roles and imagine themselves in may different professions, and Barbie has had a lot of them, from a student teacher in 1965 to a paratrooper in 2000, and everything in between, but I am happy to welcome Barbie to the world of high tech. This digital girl also comes with a special code that unlocks online career content allowing for some computer play, and a Barbie I Can Be app for the iPhone… how perfect!

Get your Barbie at  www.amazon.com for under $13.00 bucks.

80′s Retro Phone Case

Posted: 28 Feb 2011 05:30 AM PST

If you’re one who tends to be the life of the party and love playing practical jokes on others, might we recommend you sneak in your iPhone 4 into the 80′s Retro Phone Case? For just £12.99, you will definitely attract the attention of everyone at the next social event not because you have the fabled white iPhone 4, but because your handset hails back to the 1980s.

Available for pre-order, it is scheduled for delivery on April 14th 2011 (which means you will miss out on April Fool’s this year), and turns your modern handset into a classic, brick-style phone which works great to hit a thief over the head or break open crab claws to get to its succulent meat inside. This isn’t waterproof though, and we don’t recommend you bring this to your next job interview unless you’re working for Baronbob.

Clinique offers revolutionary shopping experience

Posted: 28 Feb 2011 05:00 AM PST

Clinique has come up with a new way to shop – and that is through the incorporation of technology that has become so prevalent in our lives these days. The world leader in beauty is now the first cosmetics brand to use the Apple iPad in-store as part of a state-of-the-art, self-guided skin care diagnostic tool which is currently being rolled out later this month at select counters nationwide.

According to Lynne Greene, Global Brand President of Clinique, Origins and Ojon, "Clinique was built on the promise of providing our consumers with the most personalized, engaging and informative experience at every interactive touchpoint. By integrating digital technologies into the Clinique shopping experience, we are offering the consumer a stimulating and socially modern way to connect with the brand."

You will now be able to take advantage of a guided self-service on the Apple iPad thanks to exclusive software from Clinique at select Clinique counters, letting you identify your skin care concerns and receive personalized recommendations courtesy of a 90-second computer-guided skin care analysis. The diagnostic tool will go through a whopping 180,000 product combinations in order to match your personal needs in the most precise manner possible.

Once the intuitive analysis is done, you will receive a printout or email with a list of your custom-fit product recommendations. Of course, it still remains to be seen whether you will make the final purchase decision or not, but it sure as heck beats being served by an inexperienced staff over at the Clinique counter who might deliver the wrong recommendation. Then again, will the human touch become obsolete with this new method of cosmetics shopping?

I would say that it is really all touch and go at the moment, the more cosmopolitan cities will probably see its consumer base not minding the lack of a human presence, while those living in smaller cities might still prefer the presence of a human face and that personal touch. What do you think?

Shadow Ebike is first wireless power-assist electric bicycle in the world

Posted: 28 Feb 2011 04:30 AM PST

Here is another world’s first, this time around it is a form of transportation that might just have you switch from four wheels to a two-wheeler. We’re talking about the Shadow Ebike, a wireless power-assist electric bicycle that is touted to be the first of its kind in the world. Definitely a whole lot more different from a standard pedal-powered bike, it goes one up on the rest of the electric bicycles in the market by looking dapper.

Just how much more aesthetically pleasing is it, you ask? For starters, you won’t have any of those ugly electrical wiring hanging outside the frame, since this unsightly mess has been done away, chalking another victory for the world of electric bicycles.

Toronto-based Daymak Inc. is the brains behind this vehicle, and it has integrated ISM 2.4 GHz wireless thanks to frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology in order to prevent interference. It is interesting to note that the Shadow lacks brake or gear cables, and even better is there are no visible electric wires running from the motor to the batteries, the controller or throttle.

Whenever you turn the electric motor on or off, the magnetic regenerative brakes, the throttle and the pedal assist will be controlled wirelessly via the Daymak Drive controller. The only wiring and electronics (and that includes the motor), lithium polymer battery and wireless Daymak Drive controller, are all crammed into the bike’s front wheel – now how about that for miniaturization?

The front wheel has also been specially designed to fit into a custom designed fork and frame, with the wheel sporting a USB port, charging port and an LED battery power display. Whenever brakes are applied from the wireless throttle, the regenerative braking system will come to life, sending juice back to the batteries and the wheel which will also double up as a generator to recharge devices via the USB port.

Daymak hopes that the Shadow Ebike will be a success when it arrives around the world this April 30th, retailing for a cool $1,999.

Razer Chimaera 5.1 Wireless Gaming Headset to arrive on the Xbox 360

Posted: 28 Feb 2011 04:00 AM PST

Many years ago, gaming was just all about the graphics – sound took a back seat, but it seems as though things have taken a turn for the better these days, what with modern technology having taken leaps and bounds forward over the past few years. Razer, a company that is famous for its range of gaming peripherals, has rolled out yet another device for the masses who are aligned to the Xbox 360 in the form of the Razer Chimaera 5.1 Wireless Gaming Headset.

This is the latest model which will be able to let you hear all the explosions and gunfire in Halo, not to mention being thrilled by the high octane release of nitro in Need for Speed, or grooving beats on DJ Hero. Surely, the Razer Chimaera is able to kick Xbox gaming immersion into overdrive.

According to Robert “RazerGuy” Krakoff, President Razer USA, “Putting on this headset may cause serious jaw-dropping aural intensity. With the Razer Chimaera 5.1, we’re giving every gamer the opportunity to experience surround sound in complete wireless freedom. We drew from our expertise in PC gaming audio and worked with Dolby to develop a headset that lets you hear everything with absolute clarity to pinpoint enemy locations, prevent backstabs, and just take your gaming enjoyment further. I recommend using it with the Razer Onza controller for serious Xbox ownage.”

There are 5.1 and Stereo editions of the Razer Chimaera, and it is nice to know that both of them are wireless for an added level of freedom for you to hear the destruction of your opponents anywhere. The 5.1 edition is capable of running for up to 8 hours without missing a beat, while the stereo edition will obviously last longer on the scene per charge at 12 hours.

Extra large circumaural ear cups ensure that your Xbox gaming marathons will be able to last the distance without having your ears feel cramped and uncomfortable, and if you find that the unit is starting to run out of juice, all you need to do is hang the headset onto the base station which also doubles up as the audio processing unit, and you’re good to go.

If you happen to have a trio of teammates with you, you are able to locally connect a quartet of Razer base stations for a crystal clear, lag-free, and dedicated voice channel which will certainly go a long way in improving team communication. The Razer Chimaera 5.1 Wireless Gaming Headset for Xbox 360 will retail for $199.99/€199.99 as it hits the world this April.

TI-Nspire CX makes the transition to the world of color

Posted: 28 Feb 2011 03:17 AM PST

Texas Instruments, or TI for short, has long been associated with the world of graphing calculators, and this time around, the company has more or less outdone itself wtih their latest release, the TI-Nspire CX. What makes this model stand out from the rest of the crowd? For starters, it will now boast color capability, which means that the world of black and white is now a thing of the past.

The TI-Nspire CX has already undergone the hoops and tests presented by the FCC, so it has it made and is more than ready to help you part with your hard-earned money if a color graphing calculator is the thing you need. More on this interesting device in the extended post.

Apart from the big shock that it features a 16-bit, 320 x 240 display, one that is full well capable of 64,000 colors. This isn’t the first in the world though, since the Casio Prizm hit the markets last month. Similar to the Prizm, the Nspire CX can also load image files that are provided by the user and curve fitting functions, or performing regressions, onto those images.

In a demonstration, it let students guess and check coefficients in order to match the equation of a parabola that is formed by a water fountain. The equation actually appeared on the screen simultaneously with the image. When it comes to image file types supported, you need not twirl your fingers in doubt since most major image file types are supported, such as JPG, BMP, and PNG.

The TI-Nspire CX also boasts 3D capability, bringing it up to par with the latest and greatest where graphing calculators are concerned. This will definitely have students wondering just why didn’t this come out before? Well, no complaints now as technology has finally become cheap enough to go mainstream, and we do know that the color TI-Nspire CX will arrive in stores in early to mid April.
