Escort announces StickyCup

Escort Inc. might sound like a company that actually does something more adult oriented, but in reality, they are the designer of the world’s best radar detector – or at the very least, this is what they have claimed. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, so we look forward with bated breath as to whether the StickyCup that hails from the folks over at Escort will be able to function as touted. Just what the heck is the StickyCup? Well, it is actually a full-featured bracket mount which includes a semi-sticky gel ring that is located on the cup surface itself which will improve cohesion and detector support on your vehicle’s windshield.

What kind of devices does the StickyCup works best with? Of course, it goes without saying that the StickyCup will play nice naturally with Escort’s range of category leading devices including the award-winning PASSORT 9500ix radar detector, ESCORT REDLiNE, PASSPORT 8500 series and select BELTRONICS models. For those who are interested, the StickyCup has been made available for more than a week now at all Escort stores.

How does the StickyCup help your everyday life? For starters, it will have a windshield mount gel ring which assists the StickyCup to deliver dramatically improved performance simply by filling in unseen but otherwise potentially destructive imperfections on the windshield mounting surface. As there are no more issues concerning gaps within, the StickyCup will be able to provide far greater surface adhesion as well as attachment force to the windshield. Needless to say, this would result is a vastly improved holding capacity over a wider temperature ranges.

The StickyCup is a snap to use, where it is capable of fitting all grades and slopes of automotive windshield glass. The new mount would include a rotating knob which allows one to adjust the angle of the StickyCup bracket in order to have it perfectly match the pitch of the driver’s windshield. The moment it is set, the mount will permanently mirror the windshield slope, making it ready to go at any time. Interested parties will be able to bring the new StickyCup for $24.95 a pop.

LG Display has next generation display technology in the pipeline already

It goes without saying, where any company that intends to remain stagnant wherever they are in the market at the moment run the risk of being obsolete within a short period of time, especially in a highly competitive environment. The display market is one such dog-eat-dog world, and there is no room for rest, even for the established players. LG Display has had a pretty good record at rolling out fantastic looking displays in the past, and they do not seem as though they want to relinquish their position in the market by introducing their next generation display technology at SID 2013, with their now famous curved 55" OLED TV and 5" plastic OLED panels being on parade there.

SID stands for Society for Information Display, and at SID Display Week 2013, you can more or less say that LG Display has put up quite a show, where they used the opportunity to introduce a curved 55" OLED TV and a 5" plastic OLED panel. Apart from those two displays, there will also be other mobile panels on show which have been applied with Oxide Thin Film Transistor (TFT) that has a clear future as the next generation TFT technology.

Of course a curve 55" OLED display is always a wonder to look at and check out, we are more than interested in the world of possibilities that will open up where the unbreakable and flexible 5" plastic OLED panel which will be manufactured specially for mobile devices is concerned. Imagine a smartphone which has touchscreen capability, and best of all is, you will never, ever have to worry about a broken display. This bodes well for butterfingers, but it would also provide an impetus for hardware manufacturers to come up with a smartphone chassis that is tough enough to withstand all the drops and knocks that it would possibly go through. We cannot wait for the future to come fast enough, how about you?

Stash – Waterproof Pocket Shorts

You can feel it in the air, this half of the world is welcoming summer. Days at the beach, tubing down the river, and the associated electronics wrangling. Where do you put your phone? Leave it on the towel and watch it from the water, thinking that somehow you would actually be able to swim ashore and run up the beach to catch the opportunistic phone thief before he hits his car and speeds away, all the while calling people overseas and in California who later purport to have no idea who the thief may be, even after speaking with said-criminal for well over an hour? But I digress…

Check out this Kickstarter project that makes all the sense in the world, Stash Waterproof Pocket Shorts. While getting ready for some summer fun, the designer and his wife were wondering how to keep their phones safe, and, being inspired by a simple water bottle and it’s cap, the idea was born. Why not incorporate a waterproof pocket into a pair of stylish shorts, and follow it up with jackets and backpacks, waders and life vests? Imagine, your cell phone, keys and some cash that will actually be dry when you go to spend it, all right in your pocket, right where they’re supposed to be!

The waterproof pocket is attached to the shorts by what appears to be the cap fittings and its also sewn into and inside the material (so the case won’t be against your leg.) The cap is attached via lanyard string so it cant be lost and the diameter of the pocket opening is about 3.25″ so it will probably fit your phone. So if you wan’t one, you better get over to Kickstarter.com and spend your 70 bucks, of course you probably won’t have them till Christmas.
