Pocket Projector for iPhone 4 – Wanna watch a Movie?

Posted: 17 Apr 2012 10:30 AM PDT

I like to share pics and video that I carry around on my iPhone, obviously that’s one of the main reasons I even own an iPhone in the first place, but I have to tell you, its hard to get the full effect of some of those special moments on my phones touch screen, no matter how vibrant and amazing the screen may be, its still pretty darn small.

Welcome the Pocket Projector for iPhone 4, a nifty little, easy to use dock station and projector that can take your movies, videos or presentations and project them anywhere. Poolside movie shown on the side of your house? No problem. Camp-out under the stars while you watch the latest hack and slash film on a sheet hung in the trees? Absolutely! The device charges via USB and can also be used as a back up battery for your phone.

The Pocket Projector has a surprisingly bright 15-lumen LED projector lamp that delivers clear, brilliant images and a 640×360 native display resolution that can project up to 50″ images. The unit also includes a focus adjustment that lets you control sharpness and clarity while an integrated .5 watt speaker delivers the audio, albeit maybe not loud enough for some, but I have a wireless speaker system so its not a deal-breaker for me. All in all, a pretty good price for what you do get.

So the next time you want to show everyone your vacation movies from the islands, break out your Pocket Projector and let them see your sunburn in life size glory… so much more fun.

The Pocket Projector is available from Brookstone.com for around $229.00

Loudmouth Leo – the Animated Speaker for almost Anything with Audio

Posted: 17 Apr 2012 08:19 AM PDT

I have to admit I’m a sucker for toys, I still love every conceivable plaything known to mankind. It’s not unusual for my daughter and I to be yelling at each other about whose “turn” it is, after all, it’s only fair that everyone gets a chance and I am trying to teach her a valuable life lesson. Well, at least that’s my story. So when she brought this next item to my attention we decided it would be in both of our best interests to get two.

Let me introduce you to Loudmouth Leo, no, not the one who comes over to holiday dinners and has a few too many eggnogs, but the plush animatronic Loudmouth Leo who plugs into just about anything you own that has an audio jack,(including things like your GPS system) and its ridiculousness just makes everything that you’re doing a whole lot more fun. Loudmouth Leo is a speaker that can talk, sing and dance. Its also battery operated so he can go anywhere. Check out the video after the jump.

You simply need to plug Loudmouth Leo into your music player to watch him dance and sing to your favorite tunes, his built in speaker system has a reasonable quality sound output that makes listening as fun as watching Leo get his groove on. Better yet, imagine giving Leo as a gift to your child or grandchild so that any voice chat plugged into LoudMouth Leo becomes a visual huggable chat like never before.

Okay, so its just a toy, but the possibilities are endless. So go ahead, plug him into your music player, MP3, your laptop, phone, tablet, or even your GPS system so you can listen to directions through him, tell your child a bedtime story from far away, or have Loudmouth Leo wake you up in the morning. Go ahead, you know you want to…

You can buy Loudmouth Leo for under 30 bucks, or watch the oddly annoying video at loudmouthleo.com

Zombie Bleeding Mutilated Target Dummies

Posted: 17 Apr 2012 06:30 AM PDT

I guess with the number of TV series as well as movies depicting a zombie apocalypse that is just one test tube or scientific experiment gone wrong away from plaguing mankind, it makes perfect sense that some of us are far more ready to face a horde of hungry-for-brains zombies rather than tomorrow’s work or algebra test. However, hacking down your loved one who has already turned could end up being a disaster as you freeze – which is why practice makes perfect is applied with the $89.99 Zombie Bleeding Mutilated Target Dummies.

Paper targets will not get you anywhere, and with the Zombie Bleeding Mutilated Target Dummies, these zombie torsos come complete with hazy eyes as well as mottled grey skin. If you let loose some bullets at them, they will bleed – whatever dead blood left that is coursing through their veins, of course. The zombies can be shot with over 1000 rounds of assorted calibers, and they can be reused for future target practice.

Meizu MX Quad-Core smartphone

Posted: 17 Apr 2012 06:00 AM PDT

It looks like Meizu wants to bring their MX smartphone to the next level, resulting in the Meizu MX Quad-Core smartphone. Two cores were not enough for its predecessor, and Meizu’s intention is to keep up with the Joneses, especially when we hear of other hardware manufacturers like Huawei throwing in quad-core options into their smartphone line up as well. Just what does the Meizu MX Quad-Core smartphone deliver? For starters, it is proud to be the first smartphone in the world to use the brand new and powerful Exynos A9 quad-core processor, which is said to reduce CPU power consumption by up to 20%.

A 1700mAh battery lies underneath the hood to provide adequate juice, and it will offer 60% faster performance and a GPU which is 50% faster compared to its predecessor, allowing you to enjoy the latest games or watch 1080p video without a hitch. The vivid 292 PPI high definition ASV display notches it closer to Apple’s Retina Display territory, while at the back lies an 8-megapixel BSI camera with an f/2.2 lens aperture so that you can shoot great looking images in low light conditions even.

Intel announces Solid State Drive (SSD) 330 Series

Posted: 17 Apr 2012 05:30 AM PDT

Intel does not only make microprocessors you know – they have also delved into the world of flash memory for some time already, where their latest foray would include the Solid State Drive 330 Series. Those who are already building their computers on a tight budget and yet want to have the performance of an SSD slotted inside will definitely want to take a second look at the new Intel SSD 330 Series, where it delivers a boost to system performance without breaking the bank.

In fact, the Intel SSD 330 Series, being a SATA 6Gb/s-based SSD which blends performance, Intel quality and value, will start from a mere $89 upwards, now how about that? Of course, that would net you a mere 60GB of storage, and if you want something more spacious (with the budget to match), then there would always be the 120GB and 180GB models for your consideration.

The Intel SSD 330 Series is said to be ideal for upgrading desktop or notebook PCs, and according to James Slattery, product line manager for client SSDs, Intel Non-Volatile Memory Solutions Group, "An SSD is still the single best upgrade you can make to your existing PC, and the Intel SSD 330 Series gives users the latest Intel SSD technology at a price to meet their budget. Backed by Intel's rigorous testing process, the Intel SSD 330 Series offers our users the speed they need at a great price, backed by world-class manufacturing, reliability and tech support."

SSDs are far more rugged than your traditional hard disk drive simply because it has no spinning disks and moveable parts, and hence sips even less power while delivering speedy data transmission in order to keep up with today's I/O-intensive applications. The Intel SSD 330 Series will feature Intel 25-nanometer (nm) multi-level cell (MLC) NAND memory, and its SATA 6Gb/s interface essentially doubles the bandwidth of its current SATA 3Gb/s Intel SSD 320 Series, offering sequential read speeds of up to 500 megabytes-per-second (MB/s) and up to 450MB/s sequential write speeds for faster data transfers.

The 120GB model will retail for $149, while those who opt for the 180GB SSD will have to burn a $234 in their pocket. Regardless of the capacity that you decide to bring home, all of them will come with a 3-year limited warranty.

Museum Quality 1/8 Scale 1961 Yankee Stadium

Posted: 17 Apr 2012 05:00 AM PDT

I don’t know about you, but you ought to be one of the biggest (and richest) fans of the New York Yanks around if you were to consider getting this Museum Quality 1/8 Scale 1961 Yankee Stadium which retails for – grab a chair while you are at it, $115,000. Yes sir, this 1/8-scale replica of the 1961 Yankee Stadium was meticulously researched, hand-built, and hand-painted by artist Steve Wolf. Steve Wolf is a name not to be trifled with, as his stadium models are on display in the Los Angeles Sports Museum.

Taking nearly 3,000 hours to complete (that measures to around $38/hour of work), the 49′ sq. model stadium was specially designed using original blueprints and period photographs in order for each 1/8″ of the model to be equivalent to 1′ of the actual Yankee Stadium. It has 10,000 individual parts which were handmade or laser-cut from wood, polycarbon plastic, brass, or aluminum. Needless to say, each part was painstakingly pieced together in order to create a flawless experience, and you can relive the good old days as well with your imagination.

There are half a dozen working light banks, where each of them will come with up to 250 LED bulbs, in order to cast a bright white light onto the airbrushed field and a whopping 64,000 seats. The stadium walls and illuminated scoreboard will also be lined up with period advertisements such as Yoo-Hoo and Ballantine Beer & Ale to further add to the overall atmosphere. As for the field dimensions, those will faithfully replicate the home run boundaries that faced Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle during their epic race to break “The Babe’s” home run record in 1961, and it will also be accompanied by the short, 295′ porch in right field and the nearly unapproachable 466′ centerfield wall.

As for the stadium’s exterior, it will feature Plexiglas windows, half a dozen ticket booths, and the words “Yankee Stadium” located right above the main entrance.
