They say that a picture speaks a thousand words, but we guess a short paragraph on your current weight is enough with the Diet Scale that you see here. Courtesy of Ji Lee, this unique design lets you know what you are supposed to eat according to your weight, although we do wish that the menu can change dynamically since it would be pretty boring to gorge on Deep Fried Pork Loin every single day, eh? Would definitely be a hit if that were the case, alongside a small segment that would display your actual weight, perhaps?

HSTi Wireless Media Stick

Media streaming is catching on these days, and the HSTi Wireless Media Stick is one of the latest devices from this line of gizmos to hit the market, where it enables users to stream media files from any computer that is hooked to a wireless network to virtually any USB-enabled device, be it a TV, gaming console or even stereo system. Hands on with the iOmega iConnect

I received the iOmega iConnect last Monday, and it is very hard to write about it without comparing it to the Pogoplug that I covered a few weeks ago.

The iConnect does essentially the same thing as the Pogoplug as it is able to bring USB storage into one’s home network.

You can see the iConnect in the photo as the black box that all the other hard drives are plugged into. The iConnect can be set up in seconds wirelessly with its included router cable and software. When it is plugged into the wall, four USB thumb drivers or even hard drives can be plugged into it.

The user can then access his or her files from these drives from anywhere there is an Internet connected computer.

Yes, that is the Pogoplug in a nutshell, but the iOmega iConnect has some features that the Pogoplug does not. For example, the iConnect has a UPnP DLNA Certified AV Media Server to stream photos, audio content and videos to a variety of media devices. It also has Time Machine support for Apple users.

Did I mention that the iOmega iConnect is cheaper than the Pogoplug? You should be able to get the iConnect on the company site for about $99, which is about $30 less than the Pogoplug.

Man swallows evidence: A Kingston thumb drive

Have you ever seen The Incredible Hulk movie? Not that bad one starring Eric Bana with its strange editing, but the halfway decent one starring Edward Norton.

I bring it up because in the film, Dr. Banner (Norton) is about to become the Hulk, but he has some valuable information on a thumb drive. In order to protect the valuable data from his enemies and himself, he decides to swallow it. After he calms down from becoming the big green monster, he later regurgitates the thumb drive.

I’ve always wondered if someone could swallow a thumb drive, barf it up, and use it later. It would appear that we are going to find out as someone actually did this, in real life. Find out the situation after the jump.

A man named Florin Necula (sounds Transylvanian, I know) apparently had some incriminating evidence on a flash drive and decided the only way to dispose of it was to eat it. Necula was arrested for using card readers to gain magnetic strip information from cards that are inserted into ATM machines.

A few days after Necula was arrested, he finally agreed to have the information removed. Who knows how, but I’m guessing that you’ll need surgery. Yeah, I still don’t know whether you could vomit up a thumb drive. After four days, I would think that the drive would be partially digested.

In The Incredible Hulk movie, the thumb drive was in Norton and the Hulk for only a few hours, and the data could be retrieved. I believe he had the ScanDisk brand, but Necula swallowed a Kingston. Let’s see if it survives.

Stanley Construction Jobsite Radio

Gadgets have to be capable of withstanding the conditions that we regularly find ourselves within.  For some, those conditions are not exactly mild and it’s always nice when your favorite music can go with you.  This Stanley radio is meant for the harsher conditions, specifically for those that do a lot of manual labor.  It could stay in a shop or a construction site and you wouldn’t have to worry as much about it getting damaged.

The radio comes with a cage around it, that’ll hopefully help it survive being knocked around.  One thing that is a little troubling is that it’s not mentioned whether or not it’s resistant to things like dust and water.  I would like to hope that they just forgot to include that information, but that seems like a pretty big slip up.  The radio does have AM/FM capabilities, as well as being USB and SD compatible.  Then to finish it off it also is capable of working with your MP3 player.  It has a digital LCD display and an AUX input.  You can purchase the radio for $52.49 through Tools Now.

COOL LEAF could change the face of mobile devices

I don’t know about you, but what I see in these pictures is the future of mobile devices.

This is actually the COOL LEAF, a new series of input devices designed by Minebea, a Japanese company. As you can see, the surfaces of this keyboard, calculator, and remote control have a mirrored surface to them that is just as good as a real mirror.

You may notice that there isn’t “stand-out” buttons on this guy, but these “non-physical” buttons are just as good. It looks like the mirrored surface is water-resistant, too.

How can this work? It uses a special film made by a Japanese chemical company Toray on top, an electrostatic capacity type touch panel with force sensors beneath, and a backlight as a bottom layer.

I don’t know about you, but I would be very interested in seeing a future where the Φ-QWERTY, Φ-Calcs, and Φ-Remotes have completely taken over. Yes, that is what they are called, and I had to copy/paste those names from my source, as my computer did not have a “Φ” key. I would highly consider renaming these device before they are mass-marketed like Phi-QWERTY, Phi-Calculator, and Phi-remote.

I wonder what it would be like to have a Phi-Cellphone? Would it be a candybar, clamshell, or could you make a slider out of the thing? Hey, could we change the i-Phone so it has the COOL LEAF’s mirrored surface?

Eneloop USB Booster Stick

Considering all of the strange iPhone accessories out there, I wouldn’t blame you if your mind was in the gutter when you saw the picture of this booster stick.  After all, it’s not like there isn’t already a sexual iPhone accessory out there.  This one is perfectly innocent though and it’ll even work with more than your iPhone.  This small tube will make sure that none of your electronics stay dead while you’re away from your computer.

Audiovox Homebase Message Center
