If you are a huge fan of golfing, and practice your swings religiously, surely you are always on the lookout for something better to help reduce your overall score. It can be said that the game of golf does subscribe to the adage “practice makes perfect” in some way, but not 100%. After all, once you have conditioned your muscles to swing in a certain way, correcting or improving that swing could prove harder than expected.

Well, good thing there are tools out there which might help you improve your swing to a reasonable level. We are looking at the £49.99 SensoGlove, where it was specially constructed from ground up to help you improve your game. After all, the right grip goes a long way in the make up of a perfect swing, and a slight miscalculation or overexertion of strength might send the ball flying far from where you intended.

To put things in a nutshell, the SensoGlove is proud to be the first and only golf glove that sports built-in sensors. These sensors will go about reading the pressure of your grip constantly, where all information will be relayed to an on-board computer which will send a warning whenever your grip ends up like that of Emperor Palpatine’s – which is too tight, thanks to a system of beeps and visuals.

It is hoped that the SensoGlove will slowly but surely condition you to stop gripping your clubs far harder than you need to, resulting in a smoother and more consistent swing so that your resulting scores will tumble just like Humpty Dumpty. There are sensors built right inside every finger, with the SensoGlove's LCD display letting you know just which finger is working too hard.

Even better is the SensoGlove’s ability to read your grip pressure whenever you address your swing, letting you change and adapt from old ways at it happens, without having to recreate such situations. Talk about neat!

Smartfish Whirl Mini Wireless Mouse with matching Mouse Pad Travel Pouch

We have written about the Smartfish Mouse Pad Travel Pouch before, and it was made for products like the Whirl Mini Laser Mouse.

I got a chance to try them both out. I can honestly say that I like the Whirl Mini Laser Mouse with its patented ErgoMotion pivot system. The company says that it is like “floating in air”, and the mouse tilts to adapt to your wrist, which helps eliminate static joint pain.

The Mouse Pad Travel Pouch is also handy, as it can zip up to become a pouch for the Whirl Mini Laser Mouse. When unzipped, the Pouch becomes a 9-inch diameter mousepad, which is also handy for when your mouse doesn’t react well to your table surface.

The only thing I didn’t like about using these products together is that the Smart Whirl Mini Laser uses a wireless dongle. I am not comfortable with the idea of storing the Whirl Mini in the Travel pouch with the very small dongle. I feel like the dongle is just doing to get easily misplaced in the pouch, and then what will I do with the mouse? Does anyone know if it is easy to replace those wireless dongles?

Perhaps if there was a zipper pocket or even a small-sized pocket to store the dongle, then it would be a marriage made in heaven. As it is, it is quite a good marriage here on Earth.

HP announces TouchPad 4G on AT&T

The tablet industry is definitely heating up, as it no longer remains the domain of the Apple iPad (and its successor, of course) any more. With Google’s Android operating system (and their efforts in creating a tablet-centric version with Android 3.x Honeycomb) being widely adopted by tablet manufacturers, those results are creeping closer and closer towards the iPad standard in some aspect, while depending on the kind of hardware thrown in, beats out on the iPad to boot.

HP enters the tablet fray not fueled by Android, but rather, they very own operating system – webOS. Not only that, HP intends to make a splash with their TouchPad 4G by debuting it on AT&T, making sure it is capable of remaining connected at all times thanks to a built-in wireless mobile broadband. As for the rest of the specifications, you would do well to read on.

The HP TouchPad 4G will be powered by a relatively speedy 1.5GHz processor that has 32 GB of internal memory, built-in GPS navigation capability, and Wi-Fi for moments when you do not want to rely on the integrated wireless mobile broadband capability. After all, why bother eating into your data plan when you can always hitch a ride on another person’s network, right?

David Gee, vice president, Marketing and Enterprise Solutions, webOS, Personal Systems Group, HP, says, “TouchPad 4G is ideal for anyone who needs maximum flexibility for productivity on the go. It’s particularly well suited for users who rely on connectivity in the field – from large corporations to small businesses and self-employed mobile professionals.”

The TouchPad 4G will also support Adobe Flash Player Beta, while you can keep in touch with family and friends via video calls if the need arises. Apart from that, the TouchPad 4G can also print documents, photos and other images sans wires, where it will obviously work best when connected to compatible networked HP printers.

There is still no word on pricing or availability just yet, but we do know that it will come sooner rather than later. Are you all stoked up yet?

Star Wars Fleet Commander game uses a lot of Force

What you’re seeing here is a project by Arthur Nishimoto, a grad student who at the University of Illinois in Chicago. The project is Fleet Commander, and Nishimoto developed it at the Electronic Visualization Laboratory (EVL) at the aforementioned college, and it is easily one of the coolest Star Wars games ever made.

Fleet Commander is made for a 20-foot wide multitouch display with 8,160 x 2,304 resolution. It is a real-time strategy game that allows the user to command a star fleet. This includes some big ships, which pour out a lot of little ships.

You can watch a video of it after the jump so you can see it in action, and it is some very impressive action. I have no idea if the sound effects were added in later, or if they are part of the game. Either way, it is a game that I want to play.

Fleet Commander is just one of these games that is every geek’s dream. You take command of a Star Wars armada, for crying out loud! This game clearly needs some sort of platform to be played on. Perhaps if Nintendo wanted to take a step up, they would make a console with a multi-touch display this large and forget the Wii U.

Perhaps there could be some Lord of the Rings game made so you could advance against Sauron’s Mordor armies. Yeah, that would kick the console video games market into high gear!

Move accessory attaches the iPod/iPhone to your clothes

A while ago, we covered a certain iPod nano accessory known as the iStick. Its purpose was to lock your iPod nano on your clothes, so you could listen to your tunes while jogging or whatever kinetic activity you were doing.

That was back when iPod nanos were thin and slender, but now there is a new accessory for the iPhone or iPod simply known as the Move. It is designed to hold your iDevice to your clothes without velcro, straps, clips, or magnets of any type.

It works by putting half of the Move behind your clothes, and attach the other half to your iDevice. These two pieces can then snap together to form a secure place for your iPod or iPhone to travel along with you on your attire.

The Move does sound like a very handy iPhone accessory, but it is not yet available. No, this is one of these Kickstarter projects and it is looking for about $25,000 in funding. I’m sure it is gaining funds as we speak.

I wish the creator had chosen a better name for the product. Not only is the Move too everyday a word to name a product after, but Sony has already used it for a PS3 accessory.
