The 5 in 1 Connection Kit – More of Whats Missing for your iPad

Posted: 09 Feb 2012 07:56 AM PST

Don't get me wrong, I love my iPad! I take it with me everywhere and I use it for just about everything, an address book, appointment calendar, Internet searching, entertainment… I wanted to put pictures on it, but that required a special dongle thingy. Hey, come to think of it there's quite a few things my iPad could do, things it probably should do.

So now what? Funny you should ask, you're probably already puzzled as to why there's no SD card slot, there's no way to connect your camera without buying the Apple dongle thingy, there's no USB port for charging, there's no data port for external devices, you ARE asking yourself why, are you not? Well, with the 5-in-1 connection kit you still wont know why, but it simply wont matter anymore.

The kit includes a singular iPad (original and 2) compatible dongle that supports iOS 4.0 or better, and allows you to connect your iPad to a TV for video playback, utilize an SD card for data transfer, a computer for data sync and a keyboard for data input and DC for picture and video input.

Of course with your iPad being more of a “reader” of graphics files not everything you plug into the sucker will do what you want it to, and the manufacturer also suggests that you don’t plug in more than one thing at a time

So admittedly your trusty little iPad will still not be perfect, but it’ll be just a little bit closer and do a few more of the things you always hoped for. Isn’t that nice? The 5 in 1 Connector Kit is available from usbfever.com for under 40 bucks.

Swann Helicopters with Wireless Cameras – Say Cheese!

Posted: 09 Feb 2012 05:30 AM PST

I remember flying model airplanes with my dad, filling them with fuel and running around the field with the rather large control box with an antennea on it… not to mention the little orange ribbon tied to the top of it, I guess to protect others from flying into it. I also remember our plane ending up on someone elses frequency and flying into a tree. Good times they were… good times.

My how times have changed, Swann, the guys that bring you advanced security sytems, proudly introduces three new additions to its line of RC helicopters: two that feature on-board wireless video cameras and another that is controlled by your iPhone, iPod or iPad. The Sky Eye and Black Swann actually let users record their flights as videos or you can opt for still photos all with the touch of a button and then you can easily share them with friends via the included USB cable.

The less expensive  i-Fly Micro Lightning can be operated by the included IR remote or by an  iDevice with the included adaptor and downloaded application.

Swann's helicopters feature what they call “Easy-Fly Gyro Technology” and they have trim adjustment for added stability and dual joystick controls on the infrared remote control for 6-way multi-directional flying including up/down, forward/backward, left and right turns. The helicopters are powered by a rechargable lithium ion battery Swann's RC helicopters are designed for indoor flying for ages 14+, include a spare set of replacement rotors and a bonus landing pad game.

Posted: 09 Feb 2012 05:30 AM PST

Most stuff, when miniaturized, tend to look extremely cute – which is why you have tons of toy breed dogs out there, not to mention everyone going bananas when they first watched “Honey, I Shrunk The Kids” all those decades ago. Well, in the 21st century, technological advancements have certainly made it very possible to churn out its fair share of miniaturized devices that are cute as a button – case in point, the £19.99 Music Monsters that comes in a choice of the Black Ninja, Blue Monster, Hellboy or Smiley Panda.

Not only are they cute, some of them can be creepy as well, where the miniature speakers boast the artwork of graffiti artists Pariz One and Dolaso. Definitely far more exciting to look at compared to the standard pair of portable speakers, they are also portable enough to be attached to your keys. All you need to do is plug your compatible device into the Music Monster’s posterior, followed by hitting the Play button, and you are good to go, letting the built-in 2.5W speaker rip for portable audio. The integrated rechargeable battery will deliver approximately 4 hours of playing time.

Swann HD PenCam and PenCam 4GB does discreet video surveillance

Posted: 09 Feb 2012 04:00 AM PST

These days, many of us carry at least one video recording device – the smartphone, and whether we use that or not is another matter altogether, as different smartphones have varying hardware crammed inside that will affect the output quality. As for the tablet, the same principle applies, and holding a tablet is far more unwieldy compared to having a smartphone nestled in your palm comfortably. Well, either way, they are not exactly the most discreet method of getting things done, which is why Swann came up with the HD PenCam and PenCam 4GB.

Yes sir, these two devices conceal a miniature video camera and DVR within what looks like, and works like an actual pen. Yes sir, this means you can still get your John Hancock down when the situation calls for it, and also capture a recording of your married colleague flirting with the office secretary as a form of blackmail, so much so that he has to bring you donuts and coffee every morning to keep his dirty secret safe. Let us take a look at what the HD PenCam and PenCam 4GB are able to offer in closer detail right after the jump.

First of all, the HD PenCam is able to shoot high definition AVI videos at 1280 x 720 resolution in addition to spiffy JPEG images, while the PenCam 4GB does both high resolution videos and images as well. What separates the two is this – the PenCam 4GB comes with a static internal memory count, so you are limited to just 4GB of storage space (which is the highest capacity for a PenCam to date), while the HD PenCam comes with a microSD memory card slot, so that you can record videos and shoot photos as long as there is still space left on the 16GB microSD memory card.

Either way, the videos recorded and photos shot can be shared on sites like Facebook and Youtube without the need for any post-processing, and they will play nice with PCs and Macs. Date and time-stamping makes the authenticity of the videos and photos unquestionable, and they can be charged up via USB – the same way that data is transferred over to the computer as well. Interested? The Swann HD PenCam and PenCam 4GB will retail for $99.99 and $69.99, respectively.
