I like to keep track of my stuff, let it be said that nothing is more infuriating to me than having someone help themselves to something I worked for. So imagine running a school, business or hospital where you are in charge of keeping track of assets, equipment, computers or even people? Check out the L4 tag, a small flat unit designed to be plugged into your laptop or tablet’s ExpressCard slot. The tag works with the Ekahau RTLS system which can track and manage the tags anywhere in a campus or office complex that has Wi-Fi coverage. Designed for use primarily in hospitals and large office settings the technology could be used to protect personal assets as well. The L4 has an internal rechargeable battery that is recharged directly from the laptop ExpressCard slot. When the laptop is turned off, or the battery of the laptop is depleted, the L4 will run for several weeks on its internal battery. The L4 can even detect and report the power status of the host laptop as well. The L4 is a part of an entire line of asset protection and communication devices that operate off an existing Wi-Fi network. These devices include simple trackers, badge tags that can send and receive messages and wearable tags that allow both people tracking and emergency communications. Everyone knew a Smartwatch was coming. Somehow I expected it to be Apple’s. I remember reading somewhere that a Smartwatch was on Steve Jobs to do list, and I am aware that Cupertino is working things up as we speak. On the surface it seems like an awesome idea and a gadget I would like to own. Then I got to wondering, would the screen even be big enough to have any real usefulness, check this out and let us know what you think. First of all, the palm-sized Kaossilator 2 phrase synthesizer will feature 150 built-in sounds which can be played back in a jiffy, courtesy of its X-Y touchpad interface. Gestures can be recorded and stacked infinitely so that you can come up with complete musical phrases. Not only that, users are also able to record using a built-in mic, or plug a music source into a dedicated mic input. It is made out of a miniature speaker and sports optional battery power, allowing you to use the Kaossilator 2 when you travel. All performances can be stashed away on the integrated microSD memory card slot. As for the Mini Kaoss Pad 2, this is one tiny effects processor which will also come with a self-contained media player. At first glance, I must say that the Edifier Prisma Bluetooth speaker system does look prety cool, boasting elegant aesthetics, crystal clear sound reproduction and Bluetooth connectivity so that you get to enjoy a cable-free environment, at least on the part of a speaker, leaving you with one less way of tripping over. Let us dive into greater detail where the Prisma Bluetooth speaker system is concerned. Apple's quest to be the coolest gadget received a boost…of sorts…yesterday. Apple had previously filed suit in London High Court claiming Samsung's Galaxy tablet infringed on their intellectual property. But yesterday a judge ruled that the Galaxy did not infringe. His conclusion about the Galaxy? "They are not as cool,"and Galaxy tablets "do not have the same understated and extreme simplicity which is possessed by the Apple design," stated Judge Colin Birss in his ruling.
