Sporting Sails – Do they make Ordinary Sports More Fun?

Posted: 03 May 2012 12:54 PM PDT

First, lets get out of the way the fact that I am not very sporty, I don’t run unless someone is chasing me with a meat cleaver and I try not to lift too much, unless whatever it is has fallen on my foot. I think all forms of quick and intense movement should be reserved for the zombie apocalypse or a wild animal attack. So my next “cool gadget” is probably more for you than me. We’ll have to see.

Check out Sporting Sails, developed to enhance any number of sports, like skateboarding, skiing, or surfing, this cool, multi purpose parachute-type device attaches to your ankles and wrists, and allows you to not only look like a super hero, but instantly allows you amazing stability and speed management super powers.

Developed by two brothers who found a similar device in their grandpa’s attic (developed long ago for skiing) the guys decided to adapt it for use by skateboarders and its been… well, when I say “downhill ever since” you understand that as a good thing, right? They got a patent for this unique device that attaches to your body with Velcro straps and nylon hand loops and takes quite a few sports to a whole new level.

So pair your Sporting Sail with any sport that involves downhill descent or gliding on water, and you’ve got an awesome new way to control your flow, just by harnessing the power of the wind. You can get your Sporting Sail complete with a lifetime guarantee from Sporting-Sails.com for only 79 bucks. Are you feelin it?

Filterless 540′ sq. Air Purifier

Posted: 03 May 2012 08:00 AM PDT

When it comes to air purifiers, most of the time, just like vacuum cleaners, we would have thought of these to come with a built-in filter of sorts. You know, to trap all the unseen nasties, that when enough of them congregate, you will end up with a really large mess on your hands. Say hello to the $299.95 Filterless 540′ sq. Air Purifier which is slightly different from all the other air purifiers in the market, and I am quite sure that even the dimmest bulb in the room is able to tell why from the name alone – it has no filters for you to clean.

Yes sir, the lack of filters means there is no need to top up additional money to replace them filters from time to time as they get all clogged up. Instead, the Filterless 540′ sq. Air Purifier will be able to emit billions of harmless electrons which will attach to air impurities, converting them to negatively charged ions, so that the invisible pollutants will gravitate and bond to the positively charged collection tube, while the larger dust particles will end up flat to the ground. So far, an independent testing laboratory has shown encouraging results, where this device could remove airborne dust, pollen, pet dander, and smoke particles as small as 10 nanometers – which are 100 times smaller compared to the average bacteria.

Sushi Popper – Fresh Fish on a Stick

Posted: 03 May 2012 07:03 AM PDT

I am a huge foodie, there is nothing I love more than trying new foods, going to different countries and sampling unusual cuisine. I have tried a tremendous number of really weird things. I have eaten boiled cartilage in Italy, Crickets in Korea, Blood sausages and Kangaroo meat. The point is I would consider myself an adventurous eater, but maybe not adventurous enough.

Check out Sushi Popper, a portable tube of fresh, pre-sliced sushi that is pushed up from the bottom and eaten from the top of your cool Popsicle style tube. YUM! Do away with chopsticks and save millions of trees, the recycled plastic popper will serve your sushi up in style. Made fresh daily using a specialized technique that allows them to be frozen, you simply leave them out for 2 hours before you’re ready to eat them. You’re thinking this is a joke, right? Well I can assure you, it’s not.

Sushi Popper rolls come in the most popular flavors, like California Roll, Cucumber Roll, Spicy Krab, Cali-Mango and one of my personal sushi favorites, Spicy Shrimp. Before you panic, there are no raw ingredients, they are naturally low in sodium, gluten free and can keep in your freezer for up to 4 months.

So there, I tried to be impartial, I admit I have not had the pleasure of trying a Sushi Popper so I cant comment on taste and consistency, but if I ever do, you guys will be the first to know about it. If you’re feeling extra adventurous you can get your Sushi Poppers from SushiPopper.com, delivered straight to your door, fresh-frozen and shipped on dry ice for under 70 bucks a 12 pack.  Ganbatte kudasai! Let us know how it works out.

Jawbone BIG JAMBOX portable wireless speaker

Posted: 03 May 2012 06:00 AM PDT

If you love carrying your music with you wherever you go, then getting a great pair of headphones should be at the top of your agenda. Unless, of course, you are the type who would love nothing better than to share the kind of music you have on your playlist with other people around you, strangers even. If that is the case, then toting around an old school boombox is not going to cut the mustard – you will need something else that has kept up with the times in terms of design, where the Jawbone BIG JAMBOX portable wireless speaker would certainly fit the bill comfortably.

The Jawbone BIG JAMBOX portable wireless speaker is the latest addition to its portable wireless speaker line-up that was specially designed to deliver powerful, rich sound experiences, never mind if you are in a large indoor room or somewhere outdoors. Similar in nature to the top selling JAMBOX speaker from Jawbone, the BIG JAMBOX will be able to hook up to any Bluetooth enabled device wirelessly, streaming music, movies, games, and even phone calls over, although I would think that movies and music would be the better choices, as you would not want to broadcast your sensitive phone conversations for all and sundry to listen to, would you?

Tipping the scales at a mere 2.7 pounds, the BIG JAMBOX is capable of pumping out rich, loud sound which will be disproportionate to its diminutive size. Right under the hood, there lies an airtight enclosure that features proprietary neodymium drivers as well as a couple of opposing passive bass radiators. There is also the availability of advanced digital signal processing and dynamic equalization technology to make sure that all audio, regardless of whether it is music or from movies, will sound great whether you are indoors or out, at any volume.

An integrated rechargeable lithium-ion battery is capable of delivering up to 15 hours of continuous playback and 500 hours of standby time on a single charge. If you are interested, it will retail for $299 a pop, coming in Red Dot, White Wave or Graphite Hex shades this May 15th.

EchoStar has slimmest digital TV recorder on the market

Posted: 03 May 2012 05:00 AM PDT

When it comes to modern consumer electronics, it does help not only to be able to keep up with the Joneses where system specifications and features are concerned, but design also plays a very important role. Why else do you think the iPhone as well as iPad from Apple literally has the whole world in its grip (most of it anyway, with a fair number of fans on the Android platform as well)? Having said that, the niche market of digital TV recorders is not exactly the most exciting one, but EchoStar decided to take the plunge by advertising their latest Ultra Slim Box (HDT-610R) to be accompanied by a superlative – touting it to be the world’s slimmest digital TV recorder (DTR), where it will play nice with the UK’s Freeview service.

Just how thin is it? Well, all the relevant electronics and circuits are packed into a sleek, 14mm aluminium chassis, and you can already place a pre-order from Amazon, John Lewis and Maplin from May 4th onwards.

According to Rhod Williams, Senior Vice President and General Manager of EchoStar Europe, “We pride ourselves on challenging the status quo to create truly inspirational products. We’re already inviting consumers to watch their TV anywhere and now we’re offering them the opportunity to own the slimmest digital TV recorder in the world. The Ultra Slim Box represents the coming of age for the DVR and is the perfect complement to the latest range of ultra slim TVs”.

The Freeview+ HD Ultra Slim Box will offer you the choice of subscription free TV, being able to access up to 50 high quality digital channels in addition to four of them being in High Definition (BBC One HD, The BBC HD Channel, ITV1 HD and Channel 4 HD). Not only that, you are able to pause or rewind live TV, as well as record a complete series using a single touch of the button thanks to Series Link.

Being slim and compact does not mean it is short on features – no sir, under the hood you will find a high capacity 500GB hard drive which is said to deliver up to 300 hours of recording goodness, while a twin tuner allows you to view a solitary channel while recording another without missing a beat.
