Battlestar Galactica Flash Drive

Posted: 06 Aug 2012 06:30 AM PDT

There are many USB flash drives around, where they all come in different shapes and sizes. Well, for the science fiction fan, here is something that you might want to check out – the $44.99 Battlestar Galactica Flash Drive. Sure, you can say that this a whole lot more expensive than it really is, considering it comes with only 4GB of storage space, and one good thing about this would be its compatibility – it can be used by both humans and Cylons alike, regardless of which side of the fence you lean on.

While the Battlestar Galactica Flash Drive will not be faster than light, but at least it is capable of holding your fair share of memory and files wherever you go, and at a glance, you are able to share your love for your favorite science fiction series with but a single purchase. Do you think it is actually worth more than the actual price, considering how it seems to have been jacked up just for the sake of taking advantage of Battlestar Galactica fans.

Remote Controlled Armored Drink Carrier

Posted: 06 Aug 2012 06:00 AM PDT

Summer is in full swing for those of us who live in temperate countries, and it makes perfect sense for you to enjoy your favorite drinks to cool you down in the sweltering heat. Ice cold drinks, to be more exact. While some of us are lucky enough to be able to have the kind of fortune which enables us to employ a butler, here we are with the $99.95 Remote Controlled Armored Drink Carrier that makes quite the statement the next time you decide to throw a party.

This particular Remote Controlled Armored Drink Carrier will come with built-in defense mechanisms of its own, being capable of discouraging potential thieves using a squirt from its water cannon. I suppose you can always opt to replace water with ink that leaves a permanent stain, but that would clearly make your friends shun you some bit afterwards. Recessed wells in this drink carrier can hold up to a quartet of 12 oz. cans, never mind if they are alcoholic in nature or not. It works within a 250 feet range, and boasts of independent left/right wheel control for nimble 360° turns.

Epson E200 wrist watch pulse monitor

Posted: 06 Aug 2012 05:30 AM PDT

Now here is a piece of medical machinery that you might want to check out, assuming that you are right now in the market for a pulse monitor of sorts. Granted, most medical devices are not as cool as what we see in the movies (especially those science fiction ones), but thankfully companies do realize that it is quite important to come up with something that looks really decent even for everyday use, such as a hearing aid for instance, without letting the wearer or patient look and/or feel awkward.

As for pulse monitors, wearing one of these might even make your kid or those in the neighborhood wonder whether you are a Ben 10 fan, but with the Epson E200 wrist watch pulse monitor, things will look a whole lot better on your wrist. This simple-to–use wristwatch-type pulse monitor is said to come with the company's advanced sensing technology, and it intends to be the stepping stone for Epson to grow its healthcare device business.

Just how does the Epson E200 wrist watch pulse monitor actually go about to get the job done? For starters, it will rely on an Epson-made sensor which is capable of measuring one's pulse rate through contact with the wearer's wrist. The presence of an LCD display is not there just for aesthetic’s sake, but rather, it will inform you on the amount of exercise that you need in order to achieve a fat-burning heart rate. Right now, it is said that the Epson E200 wrist watch pulse monitor is sold in Japan on an exclusive basis, so keep your fingers crossed that there will be sales plans for other markets as well sometime down the road.

The Epson E200 wrist watch pulse monitor saw Epson fall back on their 20 years of experience in pulse sensing technology in order to come up with the E200 so that it can meet customer demands for a pulse monitor that did not have too many require. In fact, the E200 will be able to take advantage of the light-absorbing property of the hemoglobin in blood so that it can measure the wearer's heart rate as accurately as possible. The monitor itself directs a harmless LED into the skin, relying on light-absorbing elements to measure the amount of light that is not absorbed by the hemoglobin and which is subsequently reflected back from inside the body. Are you going to shortlist this on your shopping list?

Angry Birds can be played sans touching your display

Posted: 06 Aug 2012 05:00 AM PDT

I would assume that even Rovio themselves did not realize what a huge hit they have on their hands when they first released Angry Birds onto the market. Just like Michael Phelps and Usain Bolt, there is no stopping them at all once they have gone off the starting blocks. Angry Birds has certainly grown to be a powerful franchise du jour, although there is no telling whether Angry Birds will have the same kind of staying power as that of Nintendo’s Mario and Zelda which has transcended generations past.

It is safe to say that Angry Birds has appeared on just about all mobile platforms – BlackBerry, iOS, Android and Windows Phone, in no particular order of importance or paying attention to the timeline of said releases. The thing is, the Angry Birds franchise has even grown from being just limited to games, touching industries like theme parks and the more-or-less guaranteed money spinner, merchandise. This time around, we are talking about Angry Birds making the leap to your Samsung Smart TV, and to make sure you need not wipe smudges off the TV’s screen each time after you play, it is controlled using nothing else other than hand gestures, now how about that?

Yes sir, with the Samsung Smart TV, you are able to send your feathery friends flinging through the air with the poise of an Olympics gymnast, and this is made possible thanks to Samsung's unique motion control feature found on their Smart TV. Not only that, it comes with a relatively generous display and offers crystal clear images for your eyes to enjoy, as though you were in the game for real. Some even said that it is approximately “97 times more fun playing it on TV”, and I guess you cannot quite dispute that when playing on Samsung's 55-inch ES 8000 Smart TV which is approximately 97 times larger compared to the Samsung Galaxy S2′s diplay.

To enjoy some Angry Birds goodness on your Samsung Smart TV, you will first need to select the Angry Birds app in the Smart Hub, and once the game loads up, you are good to go. Activate Motion Control works as you face your palm towards the camera, and wave it slightly from left to right. There is no need to exert your energy or be too close to your TV, but do make sure you remain no further than 4 meters from the camera, otherwise the Samsung Smart TV is unable to recognize your hand.
