For some reason, I seem to be reviewing gadgets that would be great gifts for those who love the outdoors. I’m sure there is a better name to describe that audience, but I think you will see that they would enjoy the Drift HD Action Camera.

The Drift HD is designed to be on the same level as the Go Pro cameras for those point-of-view shots that you see on video-sharing sites. In this case, the Drift HD is designed to travel on the side of the head of a biker, skier, or other extreme sportsman (or woman) for action shots. It comes with a lot of straps and mounts to make this easy to happen, too.

I don’t know how it relates to the Go Pro, but it comes with a cool remote control that you can flip on and off when you got the shot you want. Think of it as an easy way of editing the boring stuff you won’t want to film. If that isn’t enough, there is a playback LCD screen so you can see how the shot went, in case you have to do it over again.

I got a chance to try it out, and I will recommend it to the audience that I mentioned before. Just make sure that the LCD screen is on the left side, like you see in the picture. I found the shots came out with a fisheye type view, but they were clear. I also found it easy to rip the video off the microSD card, and connect to my TV with the HDMI cable for 1080p footage.

You should be able to get it for about $369 online, but perhaps you can look around to see if you can get a cheaper price.

Joy Factory’s Klick Desk Stand for the iPad 2

It seems like any good mobile device always needs to have a stand, and Joy Factory’s Klick Desk Stand is a good fit for the iPad 2.

The design of the Klick Desk Stand reminds me of something out of The Jetsons, where televisions were mounted on curvy beams like the neck of this device. At the end of this neck is a swivel mount for the iPad 2, which clicks easily into a detachable back cover. This allows the iPad 2 to have “720 Rotation” so it can spin on an axis in two directions.

In addition to the swivel at the end of the neck, the stand is a sturdy base that can swivel as well. You will definitely find the optimum angle for viewing with this.

By the way, if you have one of those Smart Covers for your iPad, the cover that the Klick Stand provides will not get in its way. The back cover and the Smart Cover will make for extra protection when you take the iPad 2 on the road.

However, the real purpose of the Klick Desk Stand is to avoid “possible injures from prolonged usage of the iPad 2 with improper postures”. That sounds good to me. If this sounds good to you, feel free to head to the Joy Factory site and pay $59.95 for it.

Colonel Littleton’s No. 46 Phone Holster

Remember how I talked about the Mo-Tool being the perfect manly gift? Well, I still think it is, but if you have someone on your list who likes quality leather goods as much as his smartphone, then you might want to look into the Colonel Littleton’s No. 46 Holster.

The holster is designed to protect the iPhone, iPod, MP3 Player, or any other small device. There is a vertical belt loop on the back that can accommodate most 1 1/2 inch belts.

Colonel Littleton takes more pride in his work than Colonel Sanders. The holster came with a card explaining how his leather goods are “American vegetable-tanned steer hide that has received a minimum of alteration”. You check out the good Colonel’s website if you want to here more about that, and I highly recommend looking at some of his other products as well. For some reason, I can’t help but think that Colonel Littleton’s products are a perfect gift for steampunk enthusiasts.

Even though the official word on the Griffin site is that the No. 46 holster can accommodate “taller phones”, but it didn’t quite fit my Droid X. I am guessing that any phone with a larger than 4 inch display might not fit either.

The No. 46 Holster can be purchased on Griffin’s site for about $65.00, and it is available in both brown leather or black.

Lightnight Reaction for some shocking gaming sessions

If you want to develop lightning quick reflexes, training with an enraged snake (the more poisonous the better, since it will up the ante) will definitely do that, but for a far less risky venture, you might want to check out the $29.99 Lightnight Reaction. This particular shocking party game will see the losers get a nice zap to their hands, definitely not a feeling that any of us would like. I guess it is also a deterrent for those who have hatched plans to perform some nefarious deeds down the road which might result in the electric chair, no?
