iCrystal iPhone Dock

Posted: 10 Jun 2010 03:30 PM PDT

iCrystal Dock looks more like something you’d see in a science fiction movie rather than in your house.  Which depending on your taste, could be good or bad.  Frankly, it makes it a whole lot more appealing to me.  Plus for those of you that like options, there are a few different colors that you can choose from when you’re purchasing the dock.

This iPhone dock from Speakal is definitely unique with the two spheres with an illuminated teardrop that lets off a pretty blue light.  In my opinion the blue really stands out the best on the red set of speakers, with the other colors it looks a whole lot more subdued.  If you’re not that into bright red, don’t worry this also comes in black as well as white.  To keep it powered it requires 4 AA batteries.  It also has a 3.5mm input that lets you plug in other devices.  You can purchase this for $79.99.

Mini Countertop Spin Dryer

Posted: 10 Jun 2010 02:30 PM PDT

Gadgets are obviously just cooler with they’re miniature.  After all, that is why for the most part gadgets get smaller and smaller.  Well now you can even have a mini clothes dryer.  It’ll mean you can dry out your clothing just about anywhere you like.  Even if you’re out of town at some random hotel, you’ll still manage to get your clothing nice and dry.

This dryer is a spin dryer, which means that it extracts more water from your clothing than a normal washing machine.  This compact dryer could be paired with the Wonderwash Mini Washing Machine if you prefer to do all of you laundry directly on your countertop.  This dryer can handle about 1-2 pairs of jeans per load, so it can’t exactly handle a whole lot.  You can purchase the tiny dryer for $77.89 through Amazon.

Ecotek Energy Wizard saves energy

Posted: 10 Jun 2010 01:30 PM PDT

A lot of appliances currently created are a lot more mindful of their energy usage.  However, for those of us using old appliances or ones from companies that just don’t care about that sort of thing, there is a bit of hope.  The Energy Wizard is intended to make sure that your appliance doesn’t suck up quite so much energy as it normally would.  Of course these Ecotek Energy Wizards are only going to help out those with a standard UK 3 pin plug socket.

It could reduce your consumption by up to 10%, just depending on how badly your appliance leaches power.  It works by making sure the alternating current and voltage works a little more smoothly.  The voltage and current rise and fall together.  By forcing you appliance to do that it makes it run much more efficiently and will bring down that energy bill.  You can purchase one of these for £23.50 through Amazon.

Japanese Sky Cycle roller coaster is pedal powered

Posted: 10 Jun 2010 01:15 PM PDT

Some of you might remember when we reported on the Kolelinia, a way of making travel by attaching a bike to a rail and pedal over the traffic.

I bring this up because it reminds me of this Sky Cycle roller coaster. It is located in Japan’s Washuzan Highland Park, and requires the passengers to pedal through it.

I have a video of it if you want to see it in action, but this isn’t a roller coaster with super loops or anything. However, you have to admire the side-by-side pedal powered cars, and even the cute pink baskets.

I wonder if you could do a roller coaster that is pedal powered with loops. I once heard that the loops in roller coasters are gravity powered anyway, and that passengers stay in the car out of centrifugal force rather than the bar that holds them in.

In other words, I look forward to an extreme pedal powered roller coaster, but I know that there would be safety concerns. Maybe they should get Lance Armstrong to go on it first.

Yeah, I don’t think that extreme pedal-powered roller coaster will ever see the light of day, any more than the Kolelinia. However, it is never in vain to dream.

Trimtab 3×3 Three Wheeled Vechicle

Posted: 10 Jun 2010 08:15 AM PDT

This is not the first time that I have reported on a three wheeled vehicle before. Usually, my source calls them three-wheeled tricycles. I don’t know why they don’t call them just tricycles, but I guess that just brings up mental images of something small and red. Maybe they should call things like this “BIG Tricycles”.

Anyway, this is the Trimtab 3×3 by designer David Parrott. It is a tricycle, but not the type that a child would ride.

A child might like learning to ride a tricycle like this. Apparently, the Trimtab 3×3 has no handlebars. Apparently, you have to lean to make a turn on this, sort of like a Segway, I guess. There are also some sort of hydraulic levers for tight corners.

Also in the back is a storage compartment that can somehow stay upright no matter what kind of road you are taking. I wonder if this is on a gyroscope or something.

Did I mention the acrylic windscreen? Just the thing to keep bad weather out. Most tricycles and bicycles don’t have something like that, let me tell you.

Unfortunately, this is one of those concept products, so there is no release date or price at the moment.

Mi-Sport headphones are waterproof

Posted: 10 Jun 2010 08:00 AM PDT

We’re in the heart of a hot summer in my part of the world, and I can’t wait to go swimming again. I’m not one of the types that has to have their tunes everywhere, even in the water, but if I did, I would need to get the Mi-Sport headphones.

The Mi-Sport has a 4GB media player that has a 7 hour rechargeable battery. It is made to support MP3, WMA, and AAC files.

This isn’t the first time that I have seen headphones that you can take around the water, but the Mi-Sport is designed to be in the water. Yes, it is not just water-resistant or splash-proof, but actually water proof.

My source even says that you can hear these underwater, which usually isn’t the case with most “water resistant up to x feet or y meters” products. Yes, the pads by the ears are water-blocking sponge earplugs just so when you take a dive, your tunes will not.

You may notice that there is not a display on the Mi-Sport, but it makes up for it with voice navigation, which allows the user to have their names of tracks or playlists read to them.

Sadly, there isn’t any word of when this product will be available. That is a real shame. Didn’t you read my introduction, Mi-Sport? People want to go swimming now!
