Posted: 23 Jan 2012 05:30 AM PST I still remember those old pictures that were drawn using ink (because there was no such thing as a camera yet), featuring monks of yore writing tome after tome using ink-based quills. Well, we have seen updates to old technology such as a cassette-to-MP3 converter, so here is another future update that features a writing implement instead – the $17.99 Inkless Graphite Quill. This is a unique graphite sculpture that allows you to “pen” down your thoughts without smudging the page or your fingers, which is a vast improvement over the original. It is said to be able to last up 9 years with daily use – and I suppose in this day and age where the only thing we pen down would be our John Hancocks on a credit card bill, owning one of these should virtually last far longer than 9 years – double that number, even. Coming in a handsome gift box, this might make for a decent gift for one who is just about to enter the world of school. Definitely a writing instrument that will be different from all the other pens and pencils that the rest of the students carry, don’t you think so? Posted: 23 Jan 2012 05:00 AM PST Students who sit in the back half of the classroom have a higher tendency of playing pranks on others, as well as perform other acts which tend to incur the wrath of teachers, will definitely want to check out the $4.99 Katapult Pen. This is one pen that would make all of the other pens look pointless, not because it can write far better than the other pens, but simply because of the fun factor attached to it. It will be an impromptu catapult, and all you need is some rough paper to tear into pieces and fold it up into “bullets”. Measuring 7″ in length while letting you write stuff out in blue ink. I do question the idea of it being made out of plastic though, since in your zeal of shooting the rest of your colleagues or classmates, you might actually exert far more strength than required and the plastic might end up brittle after a couple of years, breaking into pieces instead. What do you think – would metal be a more formidable idea? Check out the Coolest Gadgets 2008 Gift Guides, Christmas shopping made easy. [ Katapult Pen copyright by Coolest Gadgets ] No results. |
OtterBox releases special edition LIVESTRONG product Posted: 23 Jan 2012 04:30 AM PST When it comes to the ultimate form of protection for your range of gadgets and gizmos, the name Otterbox definitely needs to be considered. After all, it has a proven record in the past, and this time around, OtterBox has yet another goodie lined up for the masses – the special edition Commuter Series case for the Apple iPhone 4/4S which will support LIVESTRONG proudly, where it can be purchased exclusively at RadioShack and OtterBox.com. Needless to say, since it is connected to the LIVESTRONG name, you can be sure that each purchase of an OtterBox Commuter Series LIVESTRONG case will see a portion of the profit being channeled to the Lance Armstrong Foundation, which was set up in 1997 by the cancer survivor and champion cyclist Lance Armstrong in order to assist those affected by cancer, and to help them take positive action against the one of the world's leading cause of death. Just what kind of protection can you expect from the OtterBox Commuter Series LIVESTRONG case? For starters, this particular case will boast a double-layer design, where it merges an inner silicone skin alongside an outer polycarbonate shell that will deliver a sturdy case configuration with substantial protection, making it ideal for those leading active lifestyles. You will not find yourself short on style either, as the Commuter Series will have plugs that cover all ports in order to protect from dust and dirt, while a self-adhesive screen protector will make sure that minor scratches and scuffs will not be a cause of disfigurement to your favorite phone. In addition, the case comes in a pocket-friendly form factor, and was specially built for a highly-connected lifestyle. Definitely something to look into if you feel that your iPhone goes through far more than the average iPhone on the street in terms of wear and tear, so why not give it a decent form of protection? Posted: 23 Jan 2012 04:00 AM PST When Resident Evil for the Sony PSOne was released, that game gave me sleepless nights. There were moments when I played the game (with all the lights turned off and curtains drawn to get that extra creepy effect), and the events in the game literally caused me to jump out of my skin. Well, since then, there were other subsequent Resident Evil titles released, where they comprised of hits and misses. Capcom, having seen the relative success of the movie transition, decided that the world has enough appetite to have another go at zombies, hence confirming the latest installment of the franchise, by announcing that Resident Evil 6 will be heading towards home consoles this coming November. Now, November is still a good 10 months away, but that does not mean the groundwork cannot be laid down now. Resident Evil 6 is already in full development and scheduled for release on the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles when November 20, 2012, rolls around. As for those who use a Windows-based PC as the gaming platform of choice, you will need to hold your horses since a version for that platform will arrive in time after that. Merging the genres of action and survival horror, this latest instalment is said to be the most ambitious, immersive and feature rich title yet, and Capcom has already whet my appetite by claiming that this will be the dramatic horror experience of the year. I wonder whether they can live up to their claims – do you? How about the game’s setting? Resident Evil 6 throws you into a world where an escalation in bioterrorist attacks worldwide has led to widespread fear among the population. In order to quell the panic and curb bioterrorist activity at the same time, the President of the United States decided to speak to the nation, but unfortunately, the very location of the address itself came under attack, throwing the world into despair as the President's safety was compromised. You will see series favorites Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield join forces to face this unprecedented threat, where they will be joined by other new characters, and each of them has a role to play as you attempt to weed out the threat of terrorism (and presumably, zombies).
