Babysitting Mama for the Wii

Posted: 29 Dec 2010 04:30 PM PST

We have reported on gaming accessories that required dolls, like the Baby and Me Special Edition.

Now there is Babysitting Mama, which is related to the very popular Cooking Mama game franchise which is at 6 million games and counting.

Like the Baby and Me, the Wiimote is made to be put in the doll itself, and the user can play all sorts of baby games like feeding, putting baby to sleep, burping, changing diapers, massaging, or even dressing. I’m going to assume that this is done through some interaction on the screen and the motion control in the Wiimote itself.

I’m sure that you can probably see what audience that this is for: little girls. I think one of the most interesting things about this toy is that the packaging can double as a cradle. Most toys come in impossible packaging to break open and it is completely broken and useless after you get it out.

As you can see, the doll looks like an anime character. I wonder if there is any plans for other stuffed toys or dolls to be put through the Nintendo Wii treatment. The price of the Babysitting Mama kit (for lack of a better word) will be about $54.90.

How Disneyland combats long lines

Posted: 29 Dec 2010 03:55 PM PST

I realize that Disneyland is the happiest place on Earth, but there is something at Disneyland that everyone is unhappy with: long lines to the rides.

Fortunately, Disney is “on this”. According to my Source, there is some sort of command center located underneath Cinderella’s castle that has figured out how to eliminate as much downtime as much as possible.

This Think Tank factors into some interesting figures like the average number of rides ridden per visitor and team tracking of wait times. They can then do all sorts of things like re-route traffic to less populated areas of the park like with a mini-parade or something. They can even liven up Pirates of the Caribbean line by sending in Jack Sparrow.

I wonder who are the guys who can figure this stuff out? Apparently, they look forward to a day when there is some sort of memory built into the characters, so they really keep track of you, even your name. Perhaps they can liven up Star Tours by giving their stationary robots of C3-PO and R2-D2 facial recognition ability.

I realize that’s sort of crossing Big Brother with Mickey Mouse, but like they say in Vegas, what happens there stays there. At least it had better.

The LG Xnote P210

Posted: 29 Dec 2010 03:31 PM PST

LG has been putting out a lot of interesting products just in time for CES 2011. I’ve heard in advance that they are going to unveil a lot of 3D TVs, and it looks like another grand product that will be on display is this particular notebook computer.

This is the LG Xnote P210, which has the world’s thinnest bezel. Yes, I am not certain how thin it is, but it has a 12.5 inch screen that fits in a 11.6 footprint. I still don’t have an exact number figure on the bezel.

Other features of this notebook computer include a 1.33GHz Intel Core i5 470UM processor, Intel HD integrated graphics (which I’m told is pretty weak if this user wants to play AION), 320GB hard drive, and DDR3 RAM.

Of course, I don’t think that there is any entry in Guinness Book of World Records about the thinnest bezel. I think many people are concerned about the largest or smallest screen, but the bezel tends to get avoided as far as the largest and smallest are concerned. Heh-heh. Bezel. What a funny word.

It certainly is a very pretty notebook PC, and the Xnote P210 should be available in Korea in February for about $1,135.

InFocus announces IN5120 series of projectors

Posted: 29 Dec 2010 02:59 PM PST

Projectors do not really make headline news for one reason – they aren’t terribly interesting, with the only notable improvement being the brightness level as well as the recent availability of stereoscopic 3D or perhaps even wireless capability. Well, that doesn’t mean we should shove the projector category aside, as some corporate suits as well as home theater buffs do want to read up on this from time to time. Today, we have the new IN5120 series of projectors from InFocus, where they will comprise of the IN5122 (XGA, 1024 x 768) and IN5124 (WXGA, 1280 x 800) models. Both of them are capable of offering life-like colors and a deep grayscale depth thanks to inorganic LCDs, with the IN5120 series deliver organizations of all sizes high-performance projection and impressive connectivity and collaboration features – all with a price that will have your superiors smile at your savviness in making purchases which offer the company a great bang-for-their-buck.

To sum it up, “affordable LCD capability” is what these two projectors offer, being easy to install and boasting the ability to be maintained in a wide range of conference rooms, training rooms and classrooms. Both the IN5122 and IN5124 can be installed on a wall or ceiling in a jiffy thanks to their low-profile design, while sitting on a table or media cart is also a snap, and since they’re easy to move around, it makes them even more cost effective if you’re running on a really tight budget at the moment. Both horizontal and vertical lens shift are thrown into the mix, not to mention corner correction that enables the IN5120 series to project crisp, square images in nearly any room.

The new IN5120 series will come with 4,000 lumens of brightness, creating bright, high-impact images up to 110 diagonal inches (2.79 m) that makes them suitable to use even in well-lit rooms. In addition, a couple of IN5120 projectors can be stacked on top of each other for nearly twice the lumens, now how about that! Having a 5,000 hour lamp life would mean years of worry-free operation, which by then, it should be due for an upgrade anyways. The IN5122 (XGA, 1024 x 768) and IN5124 (WXGA, 1280 x 800) models can be sitting pretty in your organization or home for $2999 and $3999, respectively.

Mirror Wall Clock with Temperature Display and LED light

Posted: 29 Dec 2010 02:30 PM PST

Wall clocks are just that, right? They’re meant to hang on the wall, blending in with the rest of the environment without calling any attention to itself since it ought to be seen only when required. Well, the Mirror Wall Clock with Temperature Display and LED light turns the tables around, as this $149.95 is most likely to capture the attention of just about anyone who enters into your home, especially when dusk falls and all the lighting around you goes soft. Not only does this device tell the time, it also lets you know of the current temperature and is a snap to hang despite looking like it is extremely complicated. All lights are built in onto the inner area of the clock that will then glow upon turning the switch, and the temperature will show up in the middle as the time runs around, providing you with an accurate room temperature reading. Doubling up as a regular mirror, you can also use it to check whether there’s anything stuck between your teeth or not – it really is your call. Guess that means hanging it on face level, eh?

Posted: 29 Dec 2010 02:15 PM PST

For those of you who have are looking out for a heart rate monitor, chances are you would have come across a fair number of models that aren’t as small as the one you see here. In fact, this one is so tiny in comparison, it will fit into your pocket all too easily, leading you to lose it in an instant as well if you aren’t too careful. We’re talking about the Heart Rate Ring, and since it is called a ring, why not slip it over your finger for convenience’s sake? After all, this is where it is meant to be – to be as unobtrusive as a class ring while providing pulse readings without the need for an uncomfortable chest strap. The device will slides on your index finger in a jiffy, displaying an EKG accurate reading on its LCD with the touch of a button. Of course, another advantage of this device would be to have it set to an audible alert whenver your heart rate exceeds or falls below a preset optimal beats-per-minute target zone, letting you know when to increase or decrease your pace. Powered by a sole CR2032 battery, it is also capable of calculating calories burned, steps taken, and distance traveled. This makes for a nifty clock as well, and might be one of the better $49.95 you would have spent to date.
