Golf Ball Launcher fires Titleists Posted: 28 Dec 2009 04:41 PM PST I’m not the type who is really into golfing. Heck, I’ve never even hit a ball on the driving range. I can imagine that it must be difficult to hit a tiny ball on the ground with a small pole with a wedge on the end of it. I’m sure I would get frustrated with it really fast, and I would probably want to shoot something. (Something not alive, just so no one thinks I’m crazy!) Maybe this is why someone invented the Golf Ball Launcher, a gun that can shoot a golfball at about 300 yards. I’m not certain if the $795 pricetag is worth it, because this thing is just plain fun. Too bad they don’t make a rapid-fire version of this, because I wouldn’t mind spraying a few things with it. (Things that are also not alive, by the way.) By the way, the Golf Ball Launcher actually has a warning on it that warns the Golf ball shooter not to use it on a driving range if the course does not respect it. Man, I wouldn’t think you would need a warning label like that. Perhaps a better warning label would be: “don’t shoot anyone with this”. By the way, just because this involves golf and a device that can inflict damage, doesn’t mean that I need to tell some weak Tiger Woods joke. Bloxels glow-in-the-dark interactive blocks Posted: 28 Dec 2009 04:15 PM PST Bloxels aren’t just any blocks, but they can change color and glow. Of course, it uses the power of technology to create this luminous and colorful effect. Think of it as some colorful Legos, and each of the blocks has a transmitter so you can make some beautiful designs. Bloxels are not just some glowing cube, but the Bloxels work by obtaining its color data from the lower level Bloxel. Somehow the data is transmitted through a series of infrared high-speed flickers. Bloxels are the creation of Jinha Lee, who had a vision of pixels that “escaped the monitor screen and became controllable by people”? I suppose the name Bloxel comes form a combination of the word “block” and “pixel”. Each Bloxel consists of two full color LEDs for display, nine infrared LEDs for data transmission, a photo detector, battery, and micro controller. As I mentioned before, this is from the creation of Jinha Lee, but there doesn’t seem to be any toy companies in line to purchase this. I suppose that it could be sort of educational, and maybe they could figure out a way to make the blocks in all sorts of building block shapes. Of course, there are a lot of batteries to be sold separately here. Tech Cult – We cover the latest tech news, but always with a funny twist. Single Handle LED Glass Sink Faucet Posted: 28 Dec 2009 09:29 AM PST LED lights seem to show up in the strangest places, including the faucet for your sink. This one changes how water pours into the sink. Instead of your average type of faucet, this pours through a very flat looking piece of glass. Making washing your hands a miniature light show every single time. Don’t worry, despite that this sink is quite a bit different from the normal faucet, it isn’t too outrageously priced. The faucet is said to have an extremely easy installation process, even for those that have no experience installing faucets. Although these faucets feature LED lights, it doesn’t appear that these change colors at all. The faucets have proven to never leak thanks to its durable ceramic valves. You can purchase this Single Handle LED Glass Sink Faucet for $65 a piece from Shop Kami. Source: ChipChick Check out the Coolest Gadgets 2008 Gift Guides, Christmas shopping made easy. Round 2 of Crazy Earphones from Solid Alliance Posted: 28 Dec 2009 08:32 AM PST There’s nothing quite like owning a pair of earphones that make it appear as if you have a mushroom growing out of both ears. You’re bound to turn heads, but you may cease to turn the heads of the opposite sex in a way that you’d prefer. Instead of a come hither look, you may begin to receive that social leper look. However, if you can ignore all of that, you’ll have some of the most unique and hilarious earphones around. These Crazy Earphones will be released next month. It appears that it’ll only include four different versions. There are the mushrooms, the arrow through an apple, a miniature ear and then a katana. Each one begins one one ear and makes it appear as if it goes through to the next. Each pair will cost you $22. Although they’re only being released in Japan, so it may be difficult for those outside Japan. Source: Crunchgear Coolest Gadgets UK – For all your UK centric tech and gadget news. Cydle to offer new devices at CES 2010 Posted: 27 Dec 2009 08:28 PM PST
New technology employed includes GPS with HD Traffic Update, where one is able to receive Live Traffic updates up to 10 times faster compared to its competitors. The new T43H from Cydle will feature integrated HD Radio, where one will receive free HD Traffic. Inside the T43H will also feature both internal and external antennas, where they will refresh automatically to include the most up-to-date information concerning accidents, traffic speed and road construction areas. All you need to do when behind the wheel is to key in the destination and receive real-time alerts as they go, but do use some common sense as well since it has been proven that not all GPS maps have been updated to reflect real world conditions. Other features of the T43H goes include a high-resolution 4.3″ screen, audio and video playback alongside support for a wide variety of multimedia file formats. You can also use this to flick through photos of your favorite memories, although we would recommend you keep your eyes on the road instead. Retailing for $299 a pop, there won’t be any hidden costs or subscription fees attached to the Cydle T43H. No idea on when the exact release date would be alongside the markets it will be rolled out in, but we guess that more light will be shed when CES 2010 rolls around. Angle Tracking and Location at Home System (ATLAS) bimanual rehabilitation glove Posted: 27 Dec 2009 08:19 PM PST
This is one ATLAS that might not enhance your geographical knowledge, but it will definitely be a boon to those who can’t drive to the location themselves to receive proper physical therapy or find it just too expensive. At least you can rehabilitate yourself in the comfort of your own home, where a series of sensors within the ATLAS offers resistance in hand exercises. Virtual reality games are displayed on a computer which is synchronized to the glove, making the entire rehab experience all the more fun minus any drab. We’re hoping that the final product would be a low-cost virtual-environment based glove system which can be utilized by all and sundry to be used for motor retraining of the arm, hand, fingers and thumb in patients. Of course, where low-cost is mentioned here, it more or less applies to developed nations, where those living in emerging countries might find it a whole lot more expensive due to their lower purchasing power. No pun intended, but if this were to be released, it would win the other rehab options hands down. Source: MedGadget Coolest Gadgets UK – For all your UK centric tech and gadget news. Posted: 27 Dec 2009 07:52 PM PST If you’re the type who love standing out from the crowd and yet don’t want to jump aboard the branded items bandwagon, the Metro Pink Cosmopolitan phone might be just the handset for you – assuming you’re in the market for one, of course. This unique dual SIM swivel screen QWERTY handset is relatively affordable at $100 a pop, where it will come unlocked, while boasting a design that looks totally different from what you’ve seen on the market. It is impossible to classify this as a candybar or a slider, but more of a square-slider. Each handset works across all four bands, where each purchase will come with a free 2GB microSD memory card. Something tells me that the user interface isn’t going to be as sweet as the design though. so caveat emptor applies here. Coolest Gadgets UK – For all your UK centric tech and gadget news.
