Kaleidescape is a name that is associated with movie servers, and today they take a slightly different route with the M300 and M500 Blu-ray players hitting the market. Of course, reading on further will reveal that they are not just Blu-ray players per se, but are media players of a higher level. Both models will be based on the company’s proprietary M-Class architecture, where this next generation of players are more than capable of delivering a new and improved onscreen user interface alongside Blu-ray support. To up the ante, the M500 Player is capable of copying Blu-ray Discs, DVDs, and CDs onto a server, while both models enable imported content to be played back instantly, making this more or less the first multi-zone movie server for Blu-ray in the world. Copying Blu-ray Discs would definitely be a concern to movie studios who are wondering whether Kaleidescape is on their side, or on the side of pirates. Well, they definitely are with the former, since it requires the original disc to be present when playing Blu-ray content from the server. Basically, you would still need to make sure the Blu-ray Disc is in the tray of an M500 Player, which doesn’t really make much sense logically though (assuming this is an Utopian world and everyone who owns a server copy has the original stashed away somewhere), as you might as well watch the movie straight from the disc itself, eh? To make sure one experiences the full Kaleidescape experience for Blu-ray, the company is working on a disc loader that will keep a large number of discs present within the Kaleidescape system. It will also offer bulk import that makes life a whole lot easier when it comes to finding and retrieving a disc. Kaleidescape has also enhanced its onscreen user interface, where the Kaleidescape Movie Guide is touted to be the largest and most comprehensive of its type with over 135,000 titles, including more than 3,300 Blu-ray Disc titles. Patent pending video bookmarks as well as control triggers that automatically adjust screen masking, lighting and curtains during playback are also thrown in for good measure. This was not a first, as The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess did that. I don’t know if that was the first time that was done, but using the Wiimote as a sword has now become a convention. What isn’t a convention is the controller from Dragon Quest Monsters Battle Road Victory. Yes, that is a very very long name, and this is the Wii version of the controller. This controller looks like something that you would pull out from a stone and become the next king. Apparently, this the controller set up for the original arcade game. In all honesty, I didn’t know they even still made stand-up arcade games anymore. It makes me long for the days when every stand-up arcade machine had its own unique controller. I suppose this is what putting video games on the television has done to us. I suppose it is easier to create a standard controller for all games than make a new controller for every one. So, if you want to get in on this special controller action for the Dragon Quest game, it will be out in Japan for a price of $137. Remember a while ago, when it was on Coke Zero cans? Users could put their soda in front of the camera and see one of those tricked-out helicopter ships from Avatar. I believe that there was even Avatar toy action figures that could do the same thing with this technology. I have included a video of Adidas technology in action. You will find it interesting that the augmented reality is actually on the shoe itself, not on the box. No, the augmented reality code is right on the tongue of shoes themselves. Placing them in front of a webcam and running special software turns the shoe into something akin to a miniature virtual neighborhood. From what I can tell, it looks like users can click on the virtual image and access some interesting online things. I looks like that virtual augmented world has the Death Star as a moon. The Originals Augmented Reality Adidas come in styles of Superstar, Stan Smith, Forum, Nizza, and Samba models. According to my source, this is a concept design from India, and their marketing department wants its release in 2015. I suppose by that time we will all be over the whole touchscreen, and we will want holograms. Hence the HOLO 2.0. As you can see from the illustration, this is a mobile device that you wear around your writs, and then project holograms of whatever operating system that you are using. Call me stupid, but I don’t know of any mobile device that can do holography, unless you are going for 2D images projected on a solid wall. I suppose that would be HOLO 1.0, wouldn’t it? After all, why call this HOLO 2.0? Okay, I think that we all know that we are headed for a future where everyone has a do-it-all mobile device. Some believe that it is the iPhone, but I think it is more of a convenient device that you wear on your wrist. I think we also know that holograms are the wave of the future, but we don’t quite have the “Star Wars” feel on them just yet, do we? This has to be the most simple way to decoratively hang things in your home. With this you can stick with your ordinary nails, it just manages to hide the nail underneath a cute little cap. The best part is that this can be used time and time again in all different areas, unlike the decorative hooks you’d normally pick up at the store. Hooks will eventually wear out and become difficult to screw into the wall. These are at the very least the most happy hooks I’ve ever come across. They are featured in all sorts of colors. You can use them for anything from hanging your car keys or as a quick way to keep hats and sweaters off of the floor. Sadly these are just a design from Jung-Woo Lee for Ek Design. It would be difficult to not have come across the several crystal covered gadgets that are available. Well if you’re just not into using something so fake like crystals, now you can pick up a set covered in diamonds. You get all that wonderful shiny goodness at well over the price of their crystal look-alikes. Sure it doesn’t upgrade the quality of sound at all, but it’s pretty. Actually you can get this set in crystal too at $90 a pair, which is much less than the diamond versions. Those will range from $4,500 on up to $60,000 a pair. Solar gadgets are usually a little more on the practical side. This one doesn’t even serve a real purpose like the solar garden lights. Instead, it’s purely decorative, but that’s plenty good enough. It’s a great modern twist for those that enjoy stained glass hanging in their windows. When it is bright outside the lamp will shrink up and allow for sunlight to stream through it. Then after dark it will bloom into a snowflake pattern and show off the LED lights. Morning Glory was designed by Wendy Legro, who is graduating from The Netherland’s Design Academy of Eindhoven. That sadly means that this hasn’t been created just yet for mass production. At least so far it’s still a concept design, it’s possible it’ll eventually become more though. Some of you may remember when we reported on the Kolelinia the first time. It is a concept device that allows bikes to travel above the streets with two cables. One cable is under the wheels, and the other is located just under the handlebars. This allows ordinary cyclists to bike on air. Watch this video after the jump so you can see what is next for the Kolelinia. As you can see, no bike is involved. All that is necessary is to put this backpack-like device and then attach it to the cable-like roads. Whee! You are down the street like a zip-line. Oh man, if kids were ever city planners, then this would be what the streets would be like! Can you imagine a world where the roads are actually like this? Man, I would hate to be the guy that is blocking traffic. How in the world would you tow him off the cable? Yeah, I suppose that the chances of this become reality in my lifetime is about the same as Dwayne Johnson becoming a state governor. However, if I were to say the same statement ten years ago and use “Arnold Schwarzenegger” instead of The Rock, I’d be eating my words now. What matters about this concept is that this method of transportation does not require any polluting petroleum products to use. In other words, it puts the planet above its methods of transportation. The technology uses a multiple mirror system to achieve this special effect, and the material is a reflective polycarbonate that is useful for two reasons. The first reason is the material makes the helmet lighter, which means that it won’t feel like a heavy weight on the rider’s head. The second reason is that the material is more durable than what is on most helmets. My Source mentions something that I think is very pertinent. Just imagine trying to drive a car with the same view as the image that you see here. I suppose you could call the backward view a large rear-view mirror, but can you imagine if you accidentally got the images mixed up, even for a second? Yes, that could be the second that causes your accident. However, the company who makes this product says that most riders can get used to his point-of-view quite easily, and not having to turn around is something riders want to adapt to. If you want to break through the great wall of white noise, then I suppose you could use these Speech Bubbles. Designed by Edinburgh product design student Elaine McLuskey, these are two joined spheres that two people can wear to achieve some degree of quiet privacy in the midst of a loud public place. You know what they remind me of? The “Cone of Silence” from Get Smart. In the original TV show, they were plastic domes that caused the characters to yell at the top of their lungs and never be able to hear each other. The Steve Carrell movie version updated the Cone of Silence with a force field, and it was still the same gag. These speech bubbles look about as silly as that Get Smart gag of both generations, but if there were a lot of them, I can see them being practical. After all, just imagine the level of intimacy you will have if you can actually get someone to talk with you in a speech bubble. Perhaps loud public meeting places will one day have special speech bubble privated areas. No, that sounds like some sort of sixties science fiction set decor, doesn’t it? Sure, we’ve all seen augmented reality done for advertising products before, however, I’ve never really seen anything like this until today.
Okay, this device is definitely on my “I have got to get me one of these” list.

For folks who have an extremely large yard, you will definitely feel relaxed in the presence of it with soothing greens calming your nerves after a long, hard day at the office. I’ve never been a motorcycle rider, but I can imagine that it must be difficult to look behind you. The Reevu helmet is a unique piece of work that allows the rider to see in front of them and behind them at the same time. 
I’m not the kind who hangs in overcrowded bars, but that is because I don’t like all the noise. It isn’t like the movies where characters can carry on a distinct conversation.
