Sanyo Rechargeable Body Warmers

Posted: 09 Sep 2010 04:00 PM PDT

Bundling up can only keep you so warm, sometimes you need something to really burn the frostbite off.  Sanyo is creating a line of rechargeable warmers that’ll keep a couple of areas of your body warm.  One is even subtle enough that it won’t even be visible if you want it hidden from sight.

There is one for the waist that could easily be concealed underneath of a coat.  It comes in medium and large sizes.  As of October 7th they’ll be available in Japan for $96.  Then around your neck you can use the other warmer.  It comes in ivory and black and will be available on the same date as the waist warmer.  You can purchase the neck warmer for $84.

Plumen Designer Light Bulb

I like how long compact fluorescent bulb last, but I’ve never really liked the look of them.  As busy as the coils are I’ve thought for a while that there are certain lamps it looks really strange used within.  Apparently I’m not the only one to feel that way, because this bulb was created this way just for the looks.  Plumen 001 is the world’s first designer low energy light bulb.

It will work great with or without a shade, although I can’t say that I see the point in using a designer bulb and then hiding it with a lampshade.  Like your average low energy bulb it’ll save you a bit on  your energy bill and will last 8 times longer than a standard light bulb.  One bad thing is that it won’t work at all in the US, but those of you in Europe can pick one up.  You can purchase one for £20.00 or about $30.

No gadget invented is ever complete without having a tiny version.  It’s in the rule book somewhere, but you absolutely must have a mini version available.  Thankfully digital camera creators have definitely read that rule book.  Along those lines is the Takara Tomy D-Pods Digital Camera.  It’s small enough to keep any fan of tiny gadgets very happy.

It comes in blinding pink with black accents as well as a more subtle black and white version.  It can take pictures and short video clips.  It also has a 15 second self timer that’ll let you take pictures with your friends.  It comes with the usual items like a USB cable, a manual that will require you know how to read Japanese and a CD-Rom.  You can purchase one for ¥5,750.00 or right around $68 through Geek Stuff 4U.

Toshiba recalls T Series Notebooks

Posted: 09 Sep 2010 12:02 PM PDT

The versions of the Toshiba Satellite T130 series notebooks are being recalled.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of Toshiba Satellite T Series Notebook Computers due to potential burn hazards.

The recall affects 41,000 Satellite T135, T135D and Pro T130 Notebook computers sold between August 2009-2010 for around $600-800 and involves an overheating of the plug/AC adapter posing a potential burn hazard.

To date, Toshiba has received 129 reports of notebook computers overheating and deforming the plastic casing around the adapter plug and 2 have reporter minor burn injuries as a result. And while a burning hazard is possible, the recall points to a threat of mostly property damage.

Users are advised to visit the Toshiba website and download the latest version of Toshiba’s BIOS computer program to their notebook computer at http://laptops.toshiba.com/about/consumer-notices. The BIOS update will detect whether the notebook computer is overheating, and if so, disable the notebook computer’s external power and display a message directing the consumer to contact Toshiba for a free repair.

Consumers who do not have Internet access should contact Toshiba to arrange for installation of the updated BIOS.

For additional information, contact Toshiba at (800) 457-7777 anytime or visit their website.
