A Bed Head Savior?

If you don't have it, someone you know has bed head. Beloved bed head, That condition where after a night of sleep hair looks like something straight out of a modern art museum. No particular direction or purpose. Sort of like some of the Hollywood mop-top/unkempt looks  – Joaquin Phoenix, Kate Bosworth, etc. And trying to brush out bead head proves virtually impossible. Nothing but a full submergence in water seems to work.

In the past we highlighted products from Thanko, the Japanese company who came up with cool – but maybe not necessary – devices like the silent keyboard and USB lunch box. They are back again to help bed head-i-ans of the world. Since water tames bed head, Thanko thought they should put it into a hairbrush. Meet the USB-powered, self-misting hairbrush. Plug into any USB port to charge up the unit. Then fill the 15ml tank with water. Flip the power on and a fine stream of mist comes from the top of the handle. The reservoir will enable about 30 minutes of uninterrupted misting – though you would probably be soaked by then. Recharge after every couple hours of use to keep misting. The device is available via Thanko's website for about $75 US. Hhhmmm, dampening the brush in the sink is certainly a less expensive alternative. But if you prefer to brush and dampen at the same time, check out this device and defeat bed head with technology.

911 for Christmas Lights

"It's the most wonderful time of the year" as the song goes. Most of you have probably put the time into decorating the rooms of your house, tree, maybe even the outside of the house. I am willing to bet some of you out there let out a few curse words when testing your Christmas lights too. And then proceeded to spend hours trying to determine what bulb was bad. Times like that make investment in sets of longer-lasting LED lights quite appealing.

If you have reached the end of your proverbial Christmas light rope make sure Santa gets one of these gadgets in your stocking for future use: the Light Keeper PRO, $26.99 on Amazon. Since miniature Christmas lights are wired in a series when one goes that whole batch goes. This gun shaped device contains a voltage detector which determines where the flow of electricity stops. Simply scan along the strand and the audible tone will alert you to the bad bulb. Once you find the culprit use Light Keeper to test the fuse and bulb. If the light 'shunt' is at fault simply pump the gun a few times to send an electrical pulse to clear the shunt and let electricity flow again. The Light Keeper PRO contains an LED headlight for repairs in dark places and a spare bulb storage compartment too. Don't spend hours this holiday season determining which bulb is on the fritz! Let Light Keeper PRO do the work.

Smartphone Controlled Insectoids

They say that "there's an app for that", and just to make sure of that, have you ever figured out that your smartphone is capable of controlling tiny robotic toys? Perhaps you have heard of a remote controlled car by a smartphone before, but the $19.99 Smartphone Controlled Insectoids work slightly differently for some creepy crawly fun right there and then. After all, with the slew of small helicopters, cars and robots around, things get boring after a while, so a change in scenery is always more than welcome, and the Smartphone Controlled Insectoids provide just that.

Offering 8 directional controls for realistic scurrying action, the Smartphone Controlled Insectoids will be compatible with iOS as well as Android-powered devices, be they smartphones or tablets, although I would like to believe that a tablet delivers a less comfortable controlling experience due to the size. Still, that is but a small matter of personal preference, let us focus on the Insectoids instead. The Insectoids are infrared bugs that requires you to plug the infrared transmitter into your headphone jack before launching the Insectoid app to begin "playing." The on-screen joystick is where all the action's at, while you can also opt to use your phone’s accelerometer or the power of your voice to move your bug, now how about that? A quartet of frequency bands will let you hold Insectoid races with your mates.

Sleep Assisting Music Headband

What is the most precious thing to you in the world? For some of us, there is nothing quite like having a good night's rest – after all, sleep is a gift, and there are millions of insomniacs out there who would agree with that statement as they try method after method to just get some much needed rest at night, only to fall asleep when there is just one more hour left on the clock before the next day at work begins. Well, if you happen to fall into that category, I am quite sure you are willing to see whether there are other alternatives out there that you might have missed. Perhaps the $49.95 Sleep Assisting Music Headband could help send you to slumberland sooner than you have counted past ten sheep.

The Sleep Assisting Music Headband is a soft headband that features built-in headphones, making it a snao to listen to your favorite tunes while you prepare yourself to fall asleep. It works differently from slippery ear buds and bulky headphones, as it remains comfortably in place the whole night through. Sporting 20mm diameter flat speakers which are embedded within the cozy fleece, it delivers a full 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range. There is a 48″ audio cord that comes out through a pocket in the back so that you don't end up in a tangled mess the next morning.

Nintendo Warns That Wii U Network IDs Can Be Transferred During Repairs

Nintendo, after being requested for far too many times by their users, has finally shared and admitted up front that the Wii U network IDs can actually be transferred from one console to another. Just before that aghast face shows up, bear in mind that this will only be able to happen at a repair facility. Of course, this is a very different story from the assumption that many folks have, where a Wii U owner’s online account, accompanied by the range of eShop purchases and membership information, will be tied down to a specific console.

When approached by the folks over at Kotaku concerning further details on the transfer of Wii U accounts between different Wii U consoles, Nintendo replied, “Nintendo of America’s repair process includes the transferring of the Nintendo Network ID to a new Wii U console if a replacement system is needed.”

As a Nintendo Wii U owner, what do you think you can expect from the entire scenario? We do keep our fingers crossed that Nintendo would announce future plans for their network in due time, but at the moment, it might be more prudent to postpone any eShop purchases, no matter how strong the impulse to make purchases are. After all, locking up your Wii U in a protective cage or box could also work, although that would lean more on the extreme side, but at least it would do its bit in preventing any unfortunate accidents from happening.

On the other hand, the transferrable data is a good thing when you think about it. Should the particular Wii U console fail to work, Nintendo is capable of recovering such information, albeit taking a specific and unclear manner. I guess there are some secrets that need to be kept by the Big N just in case of an emergency, don't you think so?

CataCoffin Offers Music For The Dearly Departed

Do you believe in life after death? Well, whether you do or not, you might want to check out the CataCoffin, which is the brainchild of a Swedish company known as Pause. What does the CataCoffin offer? For starters, it will come with a CataCombo Sound System that will boast of a custom-built 2.1 amplifier and will be accompanied by a pair of 2-way speakers, tweeters with external cooling, as well as an 8-inch subwoofer that has been specially tuned to the coffin's acoustic space. Now, I do not know of any living vampires, and just in case you get walled in your coffin alive due to a wrongful diagnosis at the hospital, at least you have your favorite tracks to keep you company until the end comes.

The CataCoffin will be paired with the CataTomb tombstone, where the latter has an upgradeable music server that runs on a 2.5GHz Intel processor and a 4G wireless connection, letting the playlists be managed online. This would mean anyone with access can keep you tuned to the latest tracks, now how about that? A 7-inch LCD display will also show the currently playing song, plastered right beside your epitaph. The CataCoffin will retail from €23,500 upwards, and surely looping Justin Bieber tunes would end up in a zombie apocalypse worldwide as the dead arise.

What do you think of such a sombre set up? Do you think of it as gross, as the dead will need to be accorded the proper kind of respect as they are finally laid to rest? Well, I guess there are different strokes for different folks, and sometimes, just sometimes, you can afford to be a wee bit more flamboyant in death. After all, let the kids learn the ropes of life and work hard to earn their own money – you have gone through the school of hard knocks, and deserve a little something fun for all your hard work after you have gone on to the next world.
