For example, I could say “Live Long and Prosper” with this Star Trek Bluetooth headset, but that is actually the name of the model that you see here. I will go with the next choice as it is “logical” (think Mr. Spock) that someone would make a Bluetooth headset with a Star Trek logo. After all, Star Trek is considered by some to be “Geek Mecca”, and this is an actual quote from Wil Wheaton, who played Wesley Crusher on Star Trek, The Next Generation. It just makes sense to put Star Trek on a piece of tech and expect sales from geeks who love both tech and Star Trek. So how is the Bluetooth headset? It is really going where most Bluetooth headsets have gone before, with its one-button controls, USB recharging, 120 hour standby time, and Bluetooth v2.1+EDR. I got a chance to try it out, and it didn’t really stand out from other Bluetooth headsets that I have tried. This is not a negative review, as I am saying that it can do its job. As someone who is somewhat a fan of Star Trek, I will have to say that Bluetooth headsets are not a representation of Star Trek, the original series. It was Captain James T. Kirk that introduced us to the world of cell phones with his flip-up communicator. I can only assume that those guys on the Next Generation were using a Bluetooth device that fits on their badges. But I’m beginning to sound like the Comic-Book Guy from The Simpsons. I could geek out on Star Trek all day, and if you can do the same, feel free to head to the Earloomz site and lay down $30. Just to let you know, that is a Black Friday price, and I don’t know if it will be the same by the time this article posts. The purpose of the RumbaTime watch is not just to tell time. However, it does have a stopwatch, alarm, and backlight mode like normal watches. What makes it different is that this watch contains your medical information and allows you to make wireless payments. You heard me right. All you need to do is go to the official RumbaTime Go site and set up an account using the 8-digit VITAnumber listed on each watch. From there, you enter in vital medical information that can be scanned in case of an accident. You can also set up an account for wireless payments on certain types of payment scanners that are becoming quite popular now. There is a video after the jump so you can see how the process works. By the way, you will have to wait for the chip to come in the mail before you can use the watch’s wireless features. Still, I think products similar to RumbaTime Go are the future. I wouldn’t be surprised if similar chips like these end up in cellular phones. You can get RumbaTime Go on the official RumbaTime site, and they come in many colors, styles, and prices. I got a chance to try it out for myself, and I was pretty amazed at the sound. The official site states that “don’t let the small footprint fool you”, and that also applies to the big sound coming from its small size. The Time Command Mini is really designed for those who have an iPod/iPhone dock by their bed and use it as an alarm clock. Once an iDevice is connected to the Time Command Mini, the time on the clock syncs with the time on the iDevice. This is very cool. The user has a chance to download an app known as Stem:Connect. The App allows for customizing multiple alarms and saving them for use at any time. You can also choose from custom alarm tones or music, and many other features as well. All in all, the Time Command Mini from Stem Innovation is quite an iDock. You should be able to purchase it from the Stem Innovation site for about $79.95. The Air Flo Controller is capable of retaining all the essentials with the PS3 controller, including the dual rumble function, responsive buttons and reverse analog sticks. In fact, a jail that is located in the eastern city of Pohang intends to run a month-long trial, where a trio of such automatons will enter into action in March 2012. I suppose if the automaton would be like the Destroyer in Thor, prisoners will definitely toe the line, don’t you think so? After all, if Frost Giants would shiver in fear (pardon the pun) at the sight of the Destroyer, it makes sense for us puny humans to feel the same as well. To know more about these robotic prison wardens, head on after the jump. These robots’ main function is to monitor inmates for any form of abnormal behaviour, and according to researchers, this will further help in reducing the workload for the other guards. South Korea, after all, has the aim to be a world leader when it comes to the field of robotics, and business leaders do think that this particular field has plenty of underlying potential to become a major export industry. These prison guard robots are not intimidating in size at all, considering how they are stand 5 feet in height. The robots involved in the prison trial are the handiwork of the Asian Forum for Corrections, which is a South Korean group of researchers currently specialize in criminality and prison policies. These robots will move around on four wheels, and they will feature cameras as well as different kinds of sensors to help them in their primary task, that is to detect risky behaviour including violence and suicide. Human guards will be alerted in case problems are discovered, and according to Professor Lee Baik-Chu of Kyonggi University, who is the leader of the design process, “As we’re almost done with creating its key operating system, we are now working on refining its details to make it look more friendly to inmates.” It would be interesting to see if this particular model of prison monitoring will be replicated in other prisons around the world.
