This House can become a Fortress

Clearly, a man’s home is his fortress. I believe that “Fortress” is the appropriate name for this house/compound, which can transform better than Optimus Prime.

The architects, KWK, say that it can shift with a touch of a button, and it looks like a steel garage door covers one side and slabs cover the windows. This is the house that you want to live in if you find yourself in a situation like Will Smith in I Am Legend.

However, if you are not in a zombie apocalypse, you still have to go through several security codes just to get through the front door, and there is enclosed concrete bunker just to be let into the house.

All you need is a good enough food supply, and you are probably set for…whatever. I suppose that this is the new bomb shelter. Yeah, I believe that whoever lives here has serious security issues, but if there ever is a riot, I have found my safehouse, provided I get let in.

I like how this Fortress is set up. It has a facade of glass, which will bring in a lot of fresh sunshine. Yes, it is a glass house, and people can throw stones at it, provided the button gets pushed first.

Lego Audio Book Helmet can read to kids

Since the beginning of recorded audio, there has been books written to work in tandem with a record, cassette, CD, or digital file so that children can be read to.

This concept helmet is by Jonathan Robson, and his helmet allows a child to hear a story by plugging a Lego Brick USB stick in back on a USB slot in the back. On the Lego bricks/USB sticks are stories that go along with Lego comic books, and I believe that the child is supposed to read the comic, while the helmet provides the sounds.

I’m not certain how the technology of that would work, nor what would power this (presumably batteries or some USB charging of some type). I think it is interesting that it is shaped like a helmet from a Space Lego minifig, and made so the kid is in a private world of narration.

I believe that the comic books would be available by subscription via the mail, and the info on the Lego bricks will probably be downloaded via some iTunes service of some type. However, it is still in its concept stage, but we’ll see if it ever comes to pass at the Lego catalog.

The S1 and S2 Android Honeycomb Tablets from Sony

Sony has just unveiled some interesting tablets that can do Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) and Qriocity media suite that integrates music, video, ebook, as well as other services. They look very different than most tablets.

One of the most interesting is the S2, which is the tablet with two screens and a hinge down the middle. The screens are at 1,024 x 480 resolution, and they can be used as two individual screens, or one. This sounds exciting for those that want to multitask, and I can imagine it will come in handy for the keyboard. With the hinge, the S2 could work like a laptop.

As far as the S1 is concerned, it has a 9.4 inch screen (1200 x 800 resolution), and an “off-center of gravity design” that makes it easier to hold. The S1 has access to the Playstation Suite games and can work with Sony Bravia’s line, along with DLNA support. As for memory, it has 32 GB and 512 MB of RAM.

So far, there is no word of any price an availability. I realize that the tablet market is getting more and more flooded every day, and these tablets might not get any notice any more than another new e-reader. I suppose that we will see, but I can’t wait to get my hands on them, especially the S2.
