Not even the classic pogo stick could be overlooked when it comes to giving it an update to suit a new generation. It’d be absolutely dull for kids to play with the same toys generation after generation. Thankfully, toys can be altered just a touch and given a little bit of an upgrade. This anti-gravity pogo stick will allow for kids to bounce into the air and feel superior to the prior generations.

The nice thing about the pogo stick is that it’s very parent-friendly. Unlike the old models this one won’t scuff up the floors thanks to a non-marring base. It’ll handle a bouncers weight as long as they’re 66 to 132lbs. It’s made to balance easily with the wide base for those that aren’t exactly coordinated. You can pick one up for $76.21 through Amazon.

Special Door Designed To Protect You During Earthquakes

If you regularly deal with earthquakes or anticipate that there will be a big one within your lifetime, you’ll appreciate this new design. It was created in anticipation of a 7.6 magnitude earthquake possibility hitting the city of Istanbul by the year 2030. This door will not only keep you safe during an earthquake, but it also will prolong your life should you become trapped in your home.

Should an earthquake start you can just run to the doorway, which is where you should be anyway. Then to save yourself from any falling debris the top of the door folds to cover you. The bottom of the door stays braced against the floor to offer a little extra support. The most surprising, but smart addition is the hidden cabinet within the door frame that holds a wind-up flashlight, bottles of water and medical supplies. This was done by MA design student, Younghwa Lee from Kingston’s University. Hopefully the door can be put to use soon and save at least a few people from any extensive injuries.

Double Solar Lamp Post Light

Lamp posts are a much more attractive way to offer outdoor lighting. They’re far more classic and interesting than just having an ordinary porch light. The down side is that it means you’ll be running wires if you do want a lamp post. That is unless you pick up a solar powered alternative, then the set up would be a whole lot faster.

They are made to look like a traditional street lamp, so it won’t stand out as a cheap solar powered light. This will charge up during the day and then at night will run the 2 lights for 8-10 hours. Of course it’ll only run that long if it gets the full charge it needs. The glass is created to look like some old fashioned gas lights. It has an aluminum base that won’t rust and the whole thing is weather resistant. The lamp can be purchased in either black or white for $265 through the Outdoor Solar Store.

Hands on with the Looxcie

What you are seeing to your left is not a Bluetooth headset, but a camera. This is the Looxcie (pronounced Look-See) and it made a prominent appearance last night at Pepcom’s MobileFocus, an event-within-an-event at CTIA Fall 2010.

Looxcie is a wearable camcorder designed to fit on the ear, and is always gathering video footage. It is linked via Bluetooth to your smartphone, and you can use your phone as a viewfinder. I have a few pictures of it after the jump so you get an idea of what it is like.

If a user wants to “capture a moment” on Looxcie, then he or she simply presses a button on the device itself, and it saves a clip of the last thirty seconds. With the smartphone app, the user can view, edit, and even share this “Looxcie moment” on Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter.

I think that devices like the Looxcie could be the start of a new movement of online life in which all of our lives will be recorded and shared. It’s like Looxcie could turn everyone into a reality show where the user is the director and the star.

Looxcie should be available in the holiday catalog of Neiman Marcus and amazon.com for a suggested retail price of $199.99.

Earzee Wristband Bluetooth headsets

What you see here in this obviously touched-up photo is a man using an Earzee. This is a product from Fish Phonics that I encountered at CTIA Fall 2010, and I believe that the purpose of its design is to prevent radiation.

Well, the words “reduce radiation” appear on the flier for it. I also believe that this Bluetooth bracelet is made for those who don’t want to have “that thing” in their ear all day.

The Earzee comes in three forms. The one that you see in the photo is the Stretch Earzee, and the user essentially grips the tiny listening portion of the device in between their fingers, and talks into the bracelet. When the call is done, the user just lets go, and the Stretch Earzee becomes a fashionable and decorative bracelet that looks like an old-school phone cord.

The Zip Earzee is essentially the same concept, but instead of having a phone cord, it looks like it could be a watch. The user still grips the listening portion in between his or her fingers, but it is designed to automatically retract.

The last is the Neck band, which is a set of headphones that connects around the neck. It is a design that I have seen on other pairs of headphones.

I don’t have a price on any particular model of the Earzee right now. The current status I have is: “Austrailian Innovation Patent, Foreign Patents Pending”.
