The GameCom 777 is apparently designed for games and movies for a laptop, and it has a USB adapter that can convert any 2 channel audio source to a virtual 7.1 surround sound device. From the moment I plugged in the adapter and the headphones, the sound was magnified incredibly. You can quote me on those last two words, as I do’t know any other way to describe it. It also has a noise-cancelling microphone that can bend up into the headphones themselves. It has an in-line volume which I will have to warn you: it will usurp your laptop’s volume control. In other words, your computer’s regular dial will not work as you have use the one on the 777. That is totally acceptable. The specially designed ear pods can redistribute pressure for maximum comfort, and they feel pretty light on my head for something that looks heavy. I found that the the cables were durable, so it can take a lot of yanking. Not that you should be yanking the cord, of course. You can watch a video of it after the jump, and you can see that it has a very unusual folding ability. The folding is perfect for city parking places, where space is an issue. Just think how much less room these cars would take up in comparison to full size cars of today! The folding also serves a secondary purpose as it allows the driver to get into the car standing instead of that acute or obtuse angle that one does when getting in the driver’s seat of ordinary vehicles. In addition to these amazing abilities, the CityCar can turn its wheels at extremely odd angles. You can see in the video that the wheels can turn inward so the vehicle can make “O-turns”. Oh man, I can just see a future where big cities are full of cars like these! It would be like everyone owning a SmartCar, but smaller. This would make a mini-van seem like a semi with these kinds of standards. Right now, my mind is filling with images of science-fiction future cities, without the dystopian shadows. If you are wondering why you should want to put your flexible tripod on wheels, then you need to think like a film director. Just think of how cool your DSLR video will be when you do arcing shots, sliding shots, rolling shots, and any other shot that is in dynamic motion. I would imagine that you have to do some interesting straightening and bending to get some of the more tricky shots, but something tells me that the final cut will be worth the effort. I’m sure that even now, Warner Brother is planning how to use this technology for the next Matrix movie. I’m kidding (I hope). This is once again a Kickstarter project, and it is required to have a certain amount of funding before it is ready to market. By the way, it has already met its $20,000 funding goal. The complete system should run about $350, but a pledge should be about $275. The kit comes with the wheels, a BallHead X joint, Gorillapod Focus, case, and cleaning cloth. We are talking about 802.11 b/g/n connectivity being thrown into the latest FX90 model, where it will carry a 24mm ultra-wide LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMARIT lens with F2.5 brightness. Why Wi-Fi support? Well, everyone’s so social these days, and want to be up-to-date with the latest happenings, so to upload instantly shot photos on the spot to your social network page makes perfect sense, and I’m sure reporters who want to be discreet with their subjects would do better with a smaller camera such as this. Apart from that, Panasonic has also introduced the Lumix Club, which is a cloud-based service that can be accessed over a smartphone and a computer browser. Lumix Club enables one to upload photos which were shot with the LUMIX FX90 to Facebook, Flickr, Picasa or YouTube – simultaneously, of course. With each Lumix Club account comes a free, dedicated application known as Lumix Link, where it will play nice with iPhone and Android-powered smartphones, letting them share photos by connecting the Lumix FX90 to their compatible smartphone, relying on the carrier network to send those photos online. What else is there to say about the Lumix FX90? How about a 12.1-megapixel Hi-Speed CCD sensor that also delivers Full HD video recording capability in AVCHD format? Not only that, you will get additional goodies such as automatic shooting modes, Active Mode in MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilization), Motion Deblur, Face Recognition, Face Detection, AF Tracking, Intelligent ISO Control and Intelligent Scene Selector and Intelligent Exposure. The whole idea behind this? To make sure you are awake enough to be able to turn off an alarm clock, whereby in the process you won’t go back to sleep, of course. Would be nicer if you could replace the image of the car with a photo of your nemesis, no? This particular purchase might cost you a bit more than usual in the long run, especially when you need a trio of AA batteries for the alarm clock and a couple of AA batteries for the toy gun. I got a chance to try out the GameCom 777 and I was pretty impressed when I heard them. 
MIT Media Lab showed off this particular CityCar at a conference lately, and it is very good. Just to let you know, it is still a concept, but it should be full-sized and in production in about 2013. 
We have reported on the Joby Gorillapod before, on many occasions. It is a flexible tripod that attaches to a camera, making it look like a War of the Worlds Martian. If you ever wanted to put some wheels on your Gorillapod, you can do it now with Cineskates. 
Staying connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi is more or less a given these days, and with many more devices hitting the market that come with built-in Wi-Fi, it goes without saying that to see a compact digital camera carry such functionality is not such a huge surprise any more these days. Of course, there is always another method to retrofit Wi-Fi connectivity into your camera, and that is by using an Eye-Fi SD memory card – but you need not do so with Panasonic’s latest Lumix FX90, of course.
Stem has just announced their iZON Remote Room Monitor – which does look like some sort of modern day droid who was programmed to watch over the room with its plethora of sensors. Actually, it isn’t (sorry for the disappointment!), and R2-D2 need not worry that he would be out of a job anytime soon. In fact, the Stem iZON Remote Room Monitor is actually an app-controlled video camera that will deliver live streaming of both audio and video to any iOS device from Apple – we are talking about having it sent to anywhere in the world.
