I have seen my fair share of paradigm shifts over the years, for starters, everyone did not mind driving fuel guzzlers in the past as they were some sort of status symbol, not to mention low fuel prices helped in the situation as well. However, over time, we have gotten more and more environmentally friendly, which has led to a change in vehicles and driving habits – smaller, more fuel efficient engines are now the way to go, in addition to hybrid vehicles that offer more bang for your buck in terms of mileage than ever before. Lensbaby Composer Pro targets Micro Four Thirds cameras

When it comes to digital cameras, there are those who use the standard entry level to mid-range digital cameras, while serious enthusiasts as well as professionals decide to fall back upon the DSLR. However, in recent years, there has been a new category that cropped up along the way – the Micro Four Thirds segment, and it has been embraced by Panasonic, Olympus, Sony and Samsung. I am then pleased to announce that camera accessories manufacturers have not overlooked this particular new segment of the digital camera market, and Lensbaby fails to disappoint with their latest Composer Pro which targets Micro Four Thirds cameras.

The Composer Pro is Lensbaby’s popular SLR creative effects camera lens that will now play nice with Panasonic’s Lumix G Micro System range, Olympus’ PEN series, Sony’s very own α NEX, and Samsung’s NX shooters. Basically, the Composer Pro for mirrorless cameras will also play nice with the Lensbaby Optic Swap System, where it will ship with the Double Glass Optic installed.

The original Composer Pro for non Micro Four Thirds cameras first rolled out in March last year, helping refine and enhance the popular and award winning Lensbaby Composer through the simple upgrading of the swivel ball and focus mechanism in order to deliver a professional level of performance. The Composer Pro will come with a metal swivel ball design as well as refined focus mechanism in order to offer ultra-smooth focus and tilt control. This particular updated focus mechanism sports a fluid and accurate dampened focus ring that can be compared to the focus mechanisms of the highest quality professional manual focus lenses.

As for the Double Glass Optic, it is a 50mm f/2 selective focus optic, which is more than capable of churning out a Sweet Spot of sharp focus that photographers can move around the photo simply by tilting the Composer Pro's swiveling lens body. Expect the Composer Pro to be compatible with the slew of creative optics in the Lensbaby Optic Swap System, such as the Edge 80, Sweet 35, Fisheye, Soft Focus, Pinhole/Zone plate, Single Glass, and Plastic. Individual optics can be swapped into the Composer Pro so that you end up with a different creative effect.

Just how much will the Composer Pro for mirrorless cameras cost? We are looking at a $300 price point.

For those who are not in the know, the phenomenon known as dubstep has more or less taken over the rest of the world, where one is unable to even sneeze without having someone else remix it. The Dubstepladder offers something different, as it will enable you to come up with your own original dubstep tunes as you climb up and down it. There are pressure-sensitive rungs that have been specially pre-programmed to play a 5-second burst of grimy, bass-heavy gibberish each time you decide to put some weight on the step.

Last Alert – Find your Phone even after it’s Dead

The alarm goes off in the morning and everyone scrambles. Right about the time we should be getting in the car to get my daughter to school, the inevitable happens…Wheres my phone? And the search is on. Yes, I know we should just put our phones in the same place every night. Yes, I know all this unpleasantness could be avoided, but how many of you have misplaced or dropped your phone somewhere and couldn’t find it? Come on, a show of hands please.

So I want you to check out Last Alert, a neat new app designed to help you find your lost iDevice, even if (horror of horrors) you know the battery is dying. Last Alert not only emits an audible tone letting you know your battery is dying but it will actually send you an email during your phones last gasp of energy, letting you know the actual location of its demise. But thats not all!

If you have Last Alert installed on a second iDevice, you know, one you managed to keep track of, you can use the apps built in compass to literally lead you to the last known location of your phone. The tracker uses a “your getting warmer” type ping to let you know when you’re getting close.

If the app is successful, the developer plans an Android version as well. I see this as being a pretty useful little tool and I pity anyone that even thinks of stealing an iPhone or iPad these days, the probability of getting caught red handed just keeps climbing higher. Children should be given the chance to live out their childhood to the fullest – instead of being “tethered” to books, so to speak, all the time. I guess that at the end of the day, there needs to be a careful balance between having fun while learning. If your kid has an adventurous streak in him or her, then you might want to consider a pre-summer purchase of the $79.95 Child Piloted Tumbler. Yes sir, this rolling tumbler will put your little one firmly in control (and safe, too), as he/she is ensconced inside its protective inflatable honeycomb structure.

The drab part would be finding the perfect, or at least, near perfect area for one to tumble down in this. It is made from heavy-duty 1/8″-thick PVC, sporting 30 hexagonal chambers form the tumbler’s globular shape, where each end provides a 13.75″ diameter opening which will enable a child weighing no more than 100 lbs. to enter. Since there is enough room in the interior to change one’s position, a child can easily shift his or her body weight to generate momentum, and Newtonian physics will kick into play.
