Spray in any direction with the ANYWAY Spray Bottle

I realize that I’m not exactly the master of cleaning, and one of the reasons I avoid cleaning is that I hate the spray bottles that they come in.

I’m sure you have experienced this when using a spray bottle, but sometimes it just jams. Either the trigger freezes up, or it just doesn’t work no matter how many times you pump it. Sometimes, it trickles out what is in the bottle, and that just plain sucks. This would happen on times when the spray bottle was turned on an angle or upside down.

Fortunately, the ANYWAY spray bottle is prepared to spray at any angle. Click on the jump to figure out how it can do this.

It has a spray dip tube with a hydrophilic membrane that can attract liquids which make it possible to spray as long as any part of this dip tube is touching the liquid in the bottle. This is opposed to a regular dip tube that has that single hole in the bottom. The aforementioned spray bottle problems that I mentioned before are a result of the bottom of the tube not being submerged.

It’s pretty amazing that someone has invested the time and effort to improve spray bottle science, but I can’t help but wonder if this will help me clean more. Probably not.

ROCR robot can climb walls like a monkey

We have covered robots that climb before, two of them on one day, actually. This ROCR from the University of Utah can actually climb walls like a spider. It’s more like a monkey, honestly. Let’s just say it’s like a spider monkey.

I’m not certain what ROCR is an abbreviation for, but I have a video of it after the jump. As you can see, it has a tail that swings like a pendulum with every climb, which apparently holds the batteries.

It can only climb carpeted walls for now, but it goes at a speed of six inches per second. The creators of the ROCR boast of its efficiency to be twenty percent, a number derived by the ratio of work done to energy consumed.

Apparently, the next (and most obvious) step is higher climbing efficiencies and extended battery life. I’m sure there are plans to make certain that certain that it can climb more than just carpeted walls. Soon it will give Spider-man a run for his money.

Of course, I can think of more practical uses for this technology other than cool spider-bots. For example, just think of a window washer on a large skyscraper with one of these things on his back. No more of those cable and scaffolding jobs. I can’t think of anything else for this, but give it time.

Geneco’s VW Beetle runs on human waste, insert scatalogical joke here

Sure, there is a trend in cars toward electrical and hydrogen fuels, but this one from Geneco runs on human waste.

Yes, Geneco, a sustainable-energy company owned by Wessex Water, has presented us with a modified Volkswagen Beetle that runs on the compressed methane gas from human waste.

I believe that my source calls this a Dung Beetle, and that seems to be the best joke that I could think of. Hit the jump to find out more information, as well as some bad and obvious jokes.

Here’s how my source says it works:

Biogas is generated when filth from Wessex Water’s sewage works is put into a decomposition container, where oxygen-starved bacteria break it down to produce methane. The methane is then harvested and placed in tanks inside the boot of the Beetle, where it can be used to power the car’s slightly modified engine.

Okay, time for the jokes:

1) This gives new meaning to the expression “crap-car”!

2) All they would have to do is modify the car seats into toilets, and you would never have to stop at a gas station to refuel or use the bathroom. Talk about killing two birds with one stone.

I was hoping to have three jokes here, but I’ve got nothing. Maybe you would like to insert a comment here about this possible new trend in automotive power. Please keep them as tasteful as you can.

Envirascape Indoor Wind Chime

It used to be when you needed to regain your sanity you could just slip to your backyard and listen to the wind make music with your favorite wind chime. Now unfortuantely for many that’s not the only sound they’ll hear if they sit outside. They’re also stuck hearing sirens, traffic and on occasion someone having a dispute right on the front lawn. For those that would still like to enjoy listening to a wind chime in peace, there is this indoor chime.

Within the base of this little chime is a fan to make the chimes clink together, simulating a little bit of a breeze. It has 5 silver colored aluminum tubes and a circular aluminum wind catcher. Handmade PVC Pipe Speakers

These handmade speakers named, White Sea Cucumbers, keep your audio equipment looking a little on the industrial side. The name itself is more than a little flaky considering the materials used, but you can just call them PVC speakers to your buddies. It might be worth it to actually have a set of speakers that aren’t quite as mass produced as the others out there on the market.

Each of the pipes holds a 3 inch magnesium/aluminum alloy range driver. They’re said to have nice sound with a lot of low end bass for such a small speaker. The frequency response is 80-20,000. In order to get them up and running you’ll need a separate amplifier or purchase a mini amplifier through the same seller that has these little pipe speakers. You can pick up this particular pair for $199 through Etsy.

Diamond Light Bulbs

Instead of hanging up decorative lights you could just hang up a plain light with a decorative bulb. I’m not talking about those colorful cheesy lights that start blinking once they’ve gotten hot enough. No, instead go for an overpriced but very chic Diamond Light. Don’t worry it’s not a light bulb made out of real diamonds or some expensive crystals. It just happens to take the shape of a diamond.

The bulb was created by Eric Therner, but beyond that there aren’t a whole lot of details on the light. I’m hoping the bulb is long lasting considering the price for it. It’d be a shame to buy the bulb only to have to replace it within months with another one. Especially when you consider that each bulb will cost you €29.00 or about $38.

Razer updates its Lachesis gaming mouse
