Don’t Run with your iPod, Okay, maybe you Should. Posted: 08 Feb 2012 08:16 AM PST
I’ve always loved Paint Ball and Lazer Tag, they both have been around for a while and there hasnt been too much new about them, but they have always been a good weekend standby for getting a bit of exercise and having some fun with friends, but with all the gizmos and gadgets out there today, couldn’t some of our old standbys be just a little more exciting? Yup! Nerf and Hasbro have resurrected the game of Lazer Tag by adding some well known technology… your iPod or your iPhone, that’s right, just by mounting your iPhone or your iPod touch in a special holder on the brand new lazer “Blasters” a downloadable app enables an extension of the firing range to 250 feet and introduces a heads up display that shows, trajectory and gaming stats and even provides an updating leader-board for you and up to 23 of your closest friends. The app will also let you unlock more power and other rewards as you play. Cooler then that, the iDevice will also allow you to engage in single player games where the device screen acts in an augmented reality capacity allowing you to engage “virtual” enemies imposed over your real-life background, and “take them out!” Anyway, youre not going to get your mitts on these weapons of mass destruction anytime soon, they arent due for roll out until mid-summer, but with a 40 dollar a piece price tag, (and a 2 for 70 dollar special) I can see a couple in my future. That, and lots and lots of AA batteries…. By the way, the Blasters can also be used “old school” without the special enhancements offered by your iDevice… but I’m pretty sure my iPod wants to play too…. Olympus Tough TG-820 compact digital camera Posted: 08 Feb 2012 07:38 AM PST When the going gets rough, it is rather obvious that the tough get going – and Olympus subscribes to that school of thought with their latest addition, the Olympus Tough TG-820 compact digital camera. I clearly remember back in the days when owning a digital camera was considered to be a luxury item for the average man on the street, and Olympus was the only one in town to deliver a rugged digital camera – waterproof, even. While other imaging companies have caught up in this department, Olympus continues to forge new ground with their latest offering, the Tough TG-820. It is their toughest shooter just yet, being waterproof up to 10 meters, is shockproof and also freezeproof. This 12-megapixel shooter comes with a backlit CMOS sensor and the powerful image processor that can be found in the Olympus PEN range, you know for sure that your images will turn out great right from the get go, never mind if you do not know anything else about digital photography. Just how tough is it? It can withstand shocks against falls from as high as 2 meters, and will be able to dance around in the snow, although just make sure that the mercury does not drop below the -10°C mark. Apart from that, it is said to be crushproof with loads of up to 100kg. After all, since we know that you are going to embark on adventures with the Tough TG-820, Olympus has thoughtfully included Dual IS (Image Stabilization) that reduces picture blur due to camera shake and subject motion. Perfect when you are trying to grab a shot while tumbling down the hill. Preserve those moments forever with Full HD recording capability, as movies are encoded in the MOV/H.264 format for smooth and efficient playback later on a HDTV. You are able to record movies using the dedicated movie REC button, and a multi-motion function for stabilizing the image will kick in whenever you shoot while you walk. To be even more artsy with your images, a dozen Magic Filters were thrown into the mix – they are Pop, Pin Hole, Fisheye, Drawing, Soft Focus, Punk, Watercolor, Sparkle, Miniature, Reflection and the two new kids on the block, Dramatic and Fragmented. Definitely the shooter to consider if you love living out a rough-and-tumble lifestyle. Coolest Gadgets UK – For all your UK centric tech and gadget news. It’s a Bike, It’s a Scooter – NO! It’s EzyRoller Posted: 08 Feb 2012 06:11 AM PST Okay, so I admit that I’m a huge fan of electronics, obviously. My favorite things in this world are animated and have bells and whistles, but I have to say, that every now and then, I remember being a kid and I remember having fun that you used to have to work for. The kind of fun that made you tired at the end of the day, the kind of fun that made you excited about weekends. Well I’d like to introduce you to some new fangled, old-school fun, welcome EzyRoller, a low to the ground ride on toy that combines the control of a bike and the fun of a scooter. Not a luge, not a bike and not a scooter, the EzyRoller moves like a snake all without chains or pedals simply by using easy right-left leg movements. Just like in the old days there are no batteries and the EzyRoller moves and turns silently, unless of course you count the screams and giggles. There doesn’t seem to be too many things out there that are exactly like the EzyRoller, after reading several reviews it is obvious that these steel framed ride-ons are pretty safe and durable. EzyRollers use top quality materials and engineering. They are suitable for use on flat and smooth outdoor or indoor surfaces, and it is highly suggested you avoid hilly terrain. The EzyRoller is meant for kids from 4 to 14 years of age. So I think I’m going to get my kiddo one of these and see if we can get her unplugged for a weekend, I’m sure she’ll love it, and it sure would be nice to see her fall asleep from sheer exhaustion for a change… who knows, playing around outside might just catch on… Watch the videos, or buy yourself one for under a hundred bucks at www.fatbraintoys.com source: www.ezyroller.com Cool Gift Idea: Digital Picture Frames, check out our reviews. Logitech Touch Mouse M600 adds touch capability Posted: 08 Feb 2012 05:00 AM PST The regular mouse is a pointing peripheral that does nothing more than help you control a cursor on the screen to make interacting with the computer easier, but how many leaps of improvements have been made over the years? Not that many as say, TV or phone technology, which is why we are rather pleased to hear that Logitech’s latest release, the Logitech Touch Mouse M600 might just change the way we see and use the mouse. Being inspired by how one navigates on smartphones and tablets, this is a gesture-based mouse which will follow the natural movements of your hands. Mousing (if there is such a verb) would be like second nature to you, where you are able to scroll, swipe and surf wherever your fingertips rest on the mouse. Of course, having said that, the mouse itself is not a bulky device, but at least the surface of the mouse is far more interactive than ever before instead of being a regular plastic shell that we are all so used to. Not only that, it does not matter whether you are right-handed like the most of us, or are a southpaw, the Logitech Touch Mouse M600 will work just as well either way. In addition, there is the Logitech Flow Scroll software that ensures the kind of scrolling you enjoy with the Logitech Touch Mouse M600 is not too choppy, which makes it perfect for folks who tend to go through line after line of a large spreadsheet file, filling it up with numbers and figures along the way. There is also advanced optical tracking technology thrown into the mix which translates to precision on virtually any surface – I do not think that it will work with glass though, as so far as I know, all optical mice I have used in the past, even the high grade gaming ones falter when it comes to a glass table. To further cement its reputation as a looker, the Touch Mouse M600 was also named an International CES Innovations 2012 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree – so you know that it has international recognition. After all, since most of you already have a smartphone or tablet and rely on touch interface navigation, the Logitech Touch Mouse M600 is a natural evolutionary purchase in the world of computing. You can pick one up for $69.99 a pop. Introducing Foolish Gadgets because not all gadgets are cool [ Logitech Touch Mouse M600 adds touch capability copyright by Coolest Gadgets ] Related Posts: |

Posted: 08 Feb 2012 04:14 AM PST There is something about miniaturizing something that makes it cuter and more fun – otherwise, how else do you explain the number of dog breeds out there that fall under the “Toy” category? Well, sport is not something you miniaturize easily, although futsal, being a variation of football (soccer to the Americans), has certainly done well in select countries. As for the sport of table tennis, how does one downsize it? Ask the experts at Firebox, who has come up with the £24.99 Mini Table Tennis Table. Of course, do not expect this sport to end up as an Olympic event anytime soon, but at least you can get your ping pong kicks in whenever you are on the move, as the Mini Table Tennis Table can be set up just about anywhere. It will come with two mini table tennis bats, a couple of table tennis balls as well as a pop-up net so you can play right out of the box, there and then. It might be a fraction of the size of a regulation table, but that would mean you need to be more delicate in your return shots and serves. Of course, playing this while you are on a moving bus is not such a good idea, especially when the ball tends to bounce all over the place after a wayward shot or a smash, but it sure is fun to look at!
